Hello all,
I recently finished my 8 month course of accutane 5 days ago where I reached 240 mg/kg cumulative dose. Skin is looking pretty good, no active pimples (some really really small red bumps on eye line and around chin/mouth). Anyways, I have two questions:
1. When do you think I could start using this peel from jack black? Link is here: http://www.getjackblack.com/Products/DIY-Power-Peel-Multi-Acid-Resurfacing-Pads-with-UGL-Complex-and-Niacinamide__2017O.aspx I want to use it to help red marks and improve overall skin texture. How long do you think I need to wait, and how often should I use it (weekly basis, a few times a week, etc)
2. What is the best way to address small pimples? I'm thinking using some on the spot benzoyl peroxide at night would be a good way to target specific spots without drying my entire face up too much. What do you guys think?
Thanks
Goodjob you went through a very strong course of Accutane it it most likely cured you for life now from Acne.
But please after 240mg/kg are you seriously wanting to buy exfoliants and peels?? Your skin is probably pretty severely dry from all that accutane and the red marks will fade away if you dont touch them and dont apply any stupid cream that irritates it.
If the red marks really irritate you then use hydrocortisone cream or ointment on them and they will fade away in like a week. But dont overdo the hydrocortisone as its not safe long-term.
DO NOT USE BENZOYL PEROXIDE, you just finished your course 5 days ago seriously... If you want to use a cream then use skinoren which is way better for your skin especially after accutane when its really effective, also skinoren doesent dry out your skin like benzoyl peroxide and it also helps with scars and redmarks.
I recommend hydrocortisone cream with 1-2% solution for red marks but only temporary use.
Follow my recommendations and I promise you will not regret it, Skinoren you need a prescription but its easy since it has zero side effects and lastly over the counter hydrocortisone cream or ointment for temporary use on red marks!
Im just trying to help you with all sincerity, together we stand against Acne!!! Congratz on your success with accutane and I hope you never have to worry about acne again.
I finished my course in December. I also had a cumulative high dose. I stuck with the cetaphil cleanser and acne.org moisturizer for a month afterwards. When I saw a big nodule appear, I felt helpless and ordered the acne.org regimen. For me, I need to have a product on hand to use instead of picking. I do a reduced version of the regimen. One full pump of each product, only using the bp at night. At first i was concerned about over drying my face, causing irritation, and springing myself right back into acne, but my face is not dry at all. The products work well together for a nice balance. I also use the acne.org aha which has been amazing for hyperpigmentation. I'd stick with the safe products... Acne.org, cetaphil, cerave. You don't want to aggravate your skin with products and undo all your hard work! After that nodule, I've had one cyst appear below my jaw line, but that's it!

I agree with avoiding benzoyl peroxide, but I don't think skinoren is a good option for me. I was on azelaic acid in the past, and I absolutely hate the stuff. Makes my skin itch and burn, not good.
Bump. Does anybody else have an effective way of treating pimples after accutane?

Ohh damn I love Skinoren, shots fired....
It made me itch and burn for the first week but then was amazing reduced red marks and lowered inflammation. But every1 has different types of skin I guess.
Have you tried taking 500mg b5 a day with some zinc, magnesium and vitamin d3? That is really good post accutane.
