I was wondering whether my new insurance provider would provide for accutane. I got subscribed this insurance yesterday and it said they provide for isotretinoin. But will they still give me accutane if I didn't show I have taken other medications to no avail(which i did),given the fact I'm a new customer?
If you were already on Accutane and then answered no to the medication question, they will most definitely not cover your Accutane. However, if you went on a second course of Accutane in the future, they may cover it. Be careful submitting an Accutane request, because answering incorrectly could be considered fraudulent.

what if I this is my new derm(which he really is)?
I tried all other antibiotics and topicals prescribed by my former derm and this new derm finally said I am okay to start accutane.

My new derm was able to prescribe Accutane without any problems. I had tried all the antibiotics and topicals through my primary care doctor---not a derm.My records already showed that. My prescription drug company already knew that I had filled prescriptions for everything else under my name. The records were already with them, since my prescription drug company was the one who paid for the antibiotics, creams, etc. You might have a hard time if you only used "samples" from your previous derm & never filled any prescriptions.

I would start by having your old derm send your medical records to the new derm. See if the new derm will request them for you, then the new dermwould have the records and could tell the insurance company you already tried the other options.
