Hi everyone

new here

thought i might share my story

bare with me, english is not my first language

im a 32 yrs old male from canada

had acne since i was a late teen - young adult

did 2 courses of accutane

both time...acne came back ONE month after stopping (yes! One month)

then i was on antibiotics for years (mynocin, doxy, dapsone ....) ... The effects were amazingat first

then i started to become resistant

30th birthday i went to my derm

he said i would have acne until my 50s

Great

he had been nagging me for years about low dose accutane...i always said no

how could 2 pills/week work when 2pills/day failed ???

ButWe were starting to run out of antibiotics to try (lol....not)

ok fine lets try low dose

he tells me that i haveto stay onit for at least 5 months

ok fine ill try it

I start 2 pills/week

its december

january...february...march...april....no result

go back to my derm

i wanna stop

he tells me to keep taking it

ok fine

may...nada

june....oh wait whats happening????

july....what?

august....wow!!!

so glad i stuck with it

im starting to think the dosage wasnt the problem : onlythe time i was on it before it started to work

ive been acne free for almost 2 years now

But now i have terrible joint pains

frequent injury to bone/joint

sometimes i can barely walk

i read so many horror stories on the web about people still having side effects after stopping accutane

is this permanent? Do i wanna risk it? Destroy permanentlymy bones, joints and ligaments???

i dont know

yes it does work but at what price?

i have to make a decision

So tough

I was on 6 mnth of tane and never stopped getting spots the entire treatment

Prior to tane i had a few spots every month but they were LARGE and caused massive scarring

Now I get 3-5 small tiny spots a week that clear in 1-3 days

My derm mentioned another course low dose tane

BUT I still have eye dryness, joint paint and lethargy..scared of going back on and long term side effects
