Accutane not working

I'm new here but I was wondering why accutane is not working. I'm on 40 mg twice a day for the past 4 months. My lips get severely dry but my face is still oily and full of cystic acne as well as tons of little bumps all over. The oil on my face has doubled since starting accutane. I also use cetaphil oil control like the dermatologist recommended and it's just more oily.

I didn't clear until month five, so there's still time!

in all honesty, I really don't trust the use of moisturisers whilst on accutane - especially cetaphil. My derm reccommended no moisturizer unless it's neccessary and that's what I did.

i didn't use my cetaphil unless I went out - and even then just put it around my mouth and the corners of my nose. Cetaphil is VERY very heavy and thick.. It's possible your skin isn't oily and it's just the product and it's residue.

the point of accutane is to dry out your skin, and that's what I did - and it worked. :)  i think lay off of the cetaphil unless you're in pain.

Hi Savannaham, I agree with Lore91......my Derm also said not to use moisturizers on my skin! I would reduce the amount of cetaphil to are using and see if that helps. I'm taking a low dose (20mg a day) of accutane to control over active glands and very oily skin and noticed my pores shrinking and my skin starting toproduceless oil after about 4-5 weeks...You might find itsthe moisturizer you are using and that it is too thick/heavy for your skin.....Kind regards
