How do I tell my dermatologist that I really want accutane? I have been on so many topical things and OTC things. Plus I have tried birth control pills and also doxycycline. My deem just prescribed me solodyn for 3 months. She also gave me clindamycin and ziana. I am supposed to use these thing for 3 months but I know its not gonna work. So I got an appointment in a month to see her again. Is there anyway I can make her give me accutane now instead of the 3 months? I usually have a headache a nasuea when I take solodyn. So can I tell her I don't like the way I feel on this medication? Please help me!

Hi Jb1994,

Thank you for sharing your personal experience with acne. I would suggest that you ask your dermatologist directly if she will allow you to use accutane to treat your skin condition. I'm sure she will entertain any questions you have related to acne treatments. It is probably best if you also inform her of the side effects that you are experiencing with your current medication so she may be able to give you an alternative option. Good luck with your treatment. Cheers!

First tell her the side effects you are having with your current medication. Ask her if accutane is a possibility after the 3 months. If she says yes I would just wait out the 3 months and see if they work, if not go on the accutane. They usually require you to complete a certain amount of treatment before accutane is a possibility.
