hello, i am a 21 year old male and i have been struggleing with cystic acne now for about a year. I got occasional blind cysts. But i mostly get these big red cystic acne on my neck and throat with zits on the corner of my nose. I probably have about 5 or 6 active cysts on my neck and throat right now and they usually get pretty big. i do not get zits, just these weird big red lumps that eventually come to a head. I am entering my last year of college in about 3 weeks and have an appointment with a Derm tomorrow to potentially start accutane. Ive tried antibiotics and creams, not really working that well. I was on accutane about 5 years ago and now have these cysts that are making their way back. PLEASE HELP!

Fears: Big initial breakouts, my cysts getting bigger, red skin, maybe it wont work

Positives: Maybe this will terminate my acne and cysts forever

Please help me with advice!

What happened your first time around? Did it help at all? Some people need multiple coarses, it seems like if you made it through ok once you should know what to expect and can make it through again.

I made it through fine with a lot of dryness. But I'm just afraid of these breakouts after a mont of being on it again. I also have cystic acne and I'm afraid cysts are going to be popping up out of no where

So your cysts were gone for 5 years and are now creeping back? If you have success the first time around I would give it another shot if you are up to it. An intial breakout would not cause as much damage as continual breaking out the rest of your life if nothing else is working.
