I am a 14 year old male, weighing about 130 lbs(58 kg), and am taking claravis(Accutane) 30mg twice a day. I am around 3 weeks into what my dermatologist said would be a 5 month process. And so far, my face us a lot less oily as well as my back and chest, but it hasn't yet effected the actual acne. But right now I am much more worried about the side effects that are occurring, specifically my terrible joint and muscle pain, I play American football, and lift weights on a regular basis, so I am used to being sore, but this is just something else, like right now, my school's football camp started which is 4 days long, and it is pretty much only running, no contact at all, and I went to the 1st 2 days and after that the next morning I literally could not run, all of my toes hurt, my ankles, both my knees, my fingers, elbows, shoulders, and worst of all my back mainly my lower back. And so as of now along with the Accutane I'm talking omega 3 and calcium supplements as well as advil for the pain. But so far none if those seem to be working. And I almost forgot to mention the muscle pain which is just as bad as the joint pain, like I'm used to being sore, but this muscle pain amplifies the soreness ten fold. And mandatory football practices start monday, so I need a fix now. I drink plenty of fluids and am always hydrated so that's not the problem, but if anyone has any recommendations whether it be to lower the dosage or get a prescription pain killer or use other supplements or anything, please tell me, I need a fix now.

I would lower the dosage, yes it extends the time, but minimizes side effects, and right now you need a normal active life, and that includes football for you

so drop the dose down, try 20 twice a day, and if that is still an issue then go to 30 (20 am and 10 pm)...you'll find the right dose, and if after football you feel like you want to go back up, then you do
