Hormones take up to 6 months to balance themselves, or so I was told. So while topical treatments should be done for at least 6 weeks, I think they generally advise trying a birth control for 4 months to see which side effects it has. You can always just skip the placebo week to see if that makes a difference ![]()
I took Diane 35 for 8 months or so, it worked splendidly! My acne came back after I stopped though. As it isn't advised to take that pill for a long time I think a safe bet would be to already think about what to do after it in case your skin flares up.

Hi emi thanks for your reply ![]()
how long did you have to wait until you saw improvement?
And yes I know! I'm a little freaked out about that happening but I think I will probably going onto a less strong and dangerous pill like yaz or something (or a least I think yaz isn't as strong).
In the second month it started improving. And because it's not a topical treatment your skin doesn't dry out, so no redness! Got bigger boobs too haha. I can't remember when I was clear though... I have very thin skin, so a lot of red marks, and those last forever so I probably looked like I still had tons of acne. I attached a tiny piece of a picture of March 2011 when the marks on my cheeks had mostly faded too. I started taking that pill somwhere between August and October 2010 ![]()
