Hi all,
I have a derm appointment soon and will be asking about accutane.
If my derm perscribes accutane for me, how and when can I start taking it.
In my mind there are two scenarios: 1) first appointment: doctor perscribes me accutane, get my bloodwork done, then I have to make another second appointment with derm, ie see her in person, so she can give me the green light. 2) first appointment: doctor perscribes me accutane, get my bloodwork done, the bloodwork data is faxed to my derm, I don't have to make a second physical appointment.
The reason I ask is becuase I will be starting an internship soon, and I have to plan out how many days I may be coming into work late because of my derm appointments. (none of the derms in my area are open weekends). I understand that you have to get a bloodwork done every month and you must have a monthly in person checkup with the derm, but I'm really hoping for scenario 2 at least when it comes to just getting started the first time around.
Which scenario 1 or 2 is the path that most people experience when they just got started with Accutane?
Thanks!
are u male or female?
males think little more lenient because of the whole og testing and rules
Im female and had to have a neg pg tests 4 weeks apart
I had ot go for b/w and come into the office for a pg test
IF u are a male ive heard some Dr can give script on the spot or after initial b/w is OK
wether they would have u come in or call over phone may depend on Dr
sorry cant be more helpful

Just call the office and ask them how they handle it. Explain what your concerns are.
For the record, with my office, each month we meet, they do the bloodwork and they call it in once it checks out. I do not meet with them to get the results. I would be surprised if the office you worked with was different, but like I said, the easiest way to find out is to just ask them. If you don't like their answer, call another office and ask them too.
