I'm new to this whole acne posting thing haha so hope I'm posting correctly!! Anyways, about a month ago I was perscribed duac for moderate acne and maybe 4 days after using it both my jawlines broke out really really bad and it is all red and itchy and stings. To this day it is still irritated and looks the same! It still gets really itchy is all red and even hurts to ouch it! I'm wondering if this was an allergic reaction that won't go away!!? Any help would be nice and if anyone has had this happen before and how you cured it!

hi, I use to use duac a few years ago how bad is your acne ? im not your doctor but I was told to just put it on my spots when I had it and not on the clear skin, I think this is because it dries clear skin out this may be why it's irritated ??

My acne was bad but after I used duac on my jawlines, which were more clear than other parts of my face, it broke out and got really bad and really irritated. So maybe it is just irritation but now a month later after using it the irritation and break out still won't go away!!:(

Hi

Duac contains clindamycin (an antibiotic) which is irritant to the skin. If your skin is sensitive the irritation will be worse. I've had a similar reaction to both duac and differin in the past; they caused severe irritation of my face and I ended up with more acne and inflammation than before I'd used them. I ended up continuing to use the differin for 10 months (regret this) because I know it takes time to work...however it just didn't work for me.

My advice is see your doctor/derm soon and advise them of your concerns. Your skin may be too sensitive for topical medications (I know, after trying many, mine definitely is).
