I just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone. I had moderate acne on my back. I would have about three pimples on my back at any one time. They would heal, leave marks and then I would have about three new pimples. Over time, there would be a lot of marks on my back and I was a little embarrassed of them. I went to several dermatoligists. I tried various topical medications and then antibiotics but none of them worked. I continued to look for something that would work for a couple years. Finally I decided to try accutane. I was on it for six months which is the max the doctor would allow me to take the medication. At the time I came off the medication I still had some acne but over the following year the acne almost entirely disappeared. Over two years later, I am very happy with the result which is great because I thought nothing would work.

I am on my 3rd week of accutane. First two weeks for 10mg/day, and now 20/mg day. This really gives me hope because I am breaking the hell out right now so much. Thank you for this. Anyway, what was your dose in your six months journey? Hope you can answer. Thank you once again. :~)

Hi I'm afraid I can't remember the dosage but I'm betting your doctor is giving you the right one. Hang in there. I also thought my dose was too low but things turned out ok (after I finished the treatment).

Doctors should stick with a lower dosage as it has been proven that higher dosages are more prone to severe side effects.
