So I just started Differin 2 weeks ago and am beginning to go through the initial breakout. I have just a ton of pustules all in the same area and obviously would like to get rid of them. Is there anything I can do to dry and decrease them in size or redness? I have been icing them every once in a while because that's supposed to stop the swelling. If I apply Differin on them, would that irritate them more, or make them go away more quickly? Should I stop putting Differin on them altogether until they are gone? Or should I do it every night or every other night?

Start with Differin every other night. Make sure to use a gentle cleanser before and follow (after about 20 minutes) with moisturizer. You want the differin to increase your skin cell's turnover. Are you using a topical antibiotic or benzoyl peroxide in the morning to help treat the acne as it surfaces? This can help reduce the severity of the initial breakout.

I am not taking a topical antibiotic or using benzoyl peroxide, but I do take Amoxicillin twice a day by mouth which I was prescribed by my dermatologist.
