hi everyone,

well where do i start. I have had mild acne for me meaning maybe 15 closed comodones/ clogged pores on my left cheek on my quest to rid them and get a smoother complexion i went to my derm and she gave me tretinoin cream and minocycline and i read tons of reviews online but i was afraid to start with fear of it getting worse because of the purge. I finally just took the plunge but i did not put the tretinoin on my forehead because its not a problem area for me only my cheeks and sides of my chin which are now all covered in these clogged pores. I feel as if ive made the WORST MISTAKE EVER. i now have my left cheek covered in clogged pores and some of my right cheek as well . It looks horrible under sunlight

so i ended up going back to my derm to just have her look it over and she then perscribed me aczone twice a day and i asked her if possibly the tretinoin could be causing more clogged pores or is it bring it all to the surface? shes fired because i fired her she never took an up close look at my skin and her answer to my question was "this is all normal it wouldnt cause more clogged pores" but my question for you all is ...

Is this normal to get more closed comodones on tretinoin? I know that purging is normal but is more clogged pores considered purging?

I also read that cream retinoids can cause clogged pores should i ask for a gel?

to be honest im pretty desperate my husband is currently deployed and i just dont want him to come back and see me in this horror!

Try epiduo! It's an adapelene/BP gel that helps fight acne in two different ways. You will get a purge, and some of them will go away on their own. I will tell you I've been on epiduo for a little over a week and immediately it started to unclog my pores. It Sucks but it's also awesome because you just start getting rid of them! I had no luck with retin a, it made my face completely freak out. Epiduo is a little less intense :) you should really give it a shot!

It is to be expected that your acne worsens in intensity and/or number so don't be alarmed yet. You have to give any retinoid 3-4 months to begin working before deeming it a failure or else you're not giving it a fair shake. It is not guaranteed to work but the only way you'll know for sure is to try.

Tretinoin cream did the same to me but also gave me inflamed acne....on top of a ton more clogged pores..
