Hi,

Like the title says, I've been on accutane for 6-7 months now. Today I washed my face with betadine (iodine) with a massage. (not sure if this is related)

I just looked in the mirror and saw this:

532yip.jpg

see the blister-like thingy? what the hell man? it feels bubbly and the surrounding area is red as fuq.
oh and as you can see i have scars and the red marks are dissapearing veeerryyy slowly. i still have like 3 pimples after 6 months and it sucks bad.. after such a daily treatment you'd expect some decent result.

ANYWAY

HELP ME OUT GUYS

THANKS A LOTS

much love

That looks exactly like a hive. A hive is simply an inflammatory response to something in your environment that is allergenic or irritating. Your skin may be extra sensitive right now and anything could be causing it. This is the most likely culprit if it is itchy or if it popped up suddenly and randomly. If it begins to spread or become very itchy you may call your derm. If not - it will probably go away on it's own soon.

ookaayyyyy so could it be the iodine that could be harsh and irritating, especially when a skin is more sensitive during the accutane treatment?

Yes - I actually didn't read the part about you washing your face with iodine. It could certainly be irritating your skin. I recommend sticking with a gentle face wash and avoiding any topical treatments until a month or so after your course is over.

I'm very confused now, what exactly is Betadine and what's it typically used for? I'm just curious because whenever I've gotten any piercings done in the past it's always recomended by my piercer to do sea salt soaks on them and avoid iodized salt as it's too irritating.
