I recently have been considering accutane for my moderate to severe acne. I have tries literally everything else to try. I have tried antibiotics to all the different topicals and laser treatments. Nothing has worked so far. My acne isn't to bad but I am just sick and tired of it. I recently spoke with one of my friends about the doctor he used for accutane. I have a consultation coming up. I want to pursue accutane. I think the doctor will suggest another topical before trying accutane. I don't want to try this topical because 95% it will not work. It will just dry my skin out and leave me back at square one. I was wondering what I should expect and how to try to convince her to not give me another topical. Im ready for the acne to be gone.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...
I can relate, I had my first meeting with a new dermatologist today!
When he saw my treatment history, (several topicals and 5 oral antibiotics over the course of 10 years), his first question was "Why haven't you tried accutane?"
I think if you just tell him what you've tried and how long you've had acne, he will be very open to the idea.

Thank you. I will tell the derm what I have been through. Are you a little nervous to try accutane? My parents are a little reluctant...
I am terrified! Especially because I have a friend who had a very bad experience with it.
I'm a girl, so I'm currently in the mandatory 30 day waiting period between pregnancy tests. I am trying to use this time to decide if I want to do it or not. I want to, because acne really negatively impacts my life, but I'm so afraid of being in that minority who says accutane ruined their life.
