Dont be, its okay, i know im probably not in the best position to advice, given my low dose, but we all knew this was gonna be a battle since the start. accutane is not a miracle! But it will make you clear.

Everytime i see my face and sont like how it looks, i do this battle cry in the mirror and curse on those pimples, swearing theyll die. It helps. Hahahah i know xD

Anyway, i have noticed that my skin is smoother and the old hyperpigmentation scars are fading fast! So excited! But not going to let this believe it will be like thos always.

Have a wonderful day

Two weeks today! :) I have to say that I'm not sure what to expect from the IB. I do have one huge cyst now, which is unvcommon for me, and a pretty big pimple Close to my ear (hurts big time!), but otherwise it's just like one of those bad periods I'm sometimes having. My doctor told me that if the IB got really bad I could take Prednisolon, since this would heal the inflamation (ironic though that prednisolon normally causes pimples. Oh, is it called Prednisolon in the US? Cortison?) Perhaps something to keep in mind if your breakout is bad before saturday?

I see that the rest of my skin is slowly getting clearer, the pores are shrinking, but the huge zits that remain/pops up seems to be all I see when I see myself in the Mirror anyway.

I personally don't think the moisturizer and powder caused your break out Kim, more the Tane. But yes, my skin is a lot more sensitive. It's normally pretty sensitive, but this is a whole different world. My toner and cleanser is for sensitive skin, so it's kind of good to put it on (From the Matis range), and then I use the Decleor rose orient serum mixed with their New serum for dry skin. Decleor is not for everybody though, since it has got these Oils and the smell is strong, but my skin likes it.
I'm also using this, which my doctor recommended: La Roche Posay Effaclar H soothing moisturiser. Iy's ok, but I have to use a serum underneath it.

So far I have to admit that the side effects are not as bad as I feared, there are hardly any difference, apart from me not having a glas of wine in the weekends. And my upper arms are itching like crazy when I work out. ApparentlyI'm prone to eczema my doctor said, so I Guess that's why.
Read somewhere about someonegetting terrible muscle pain when they started with 60 mg, but they solved it nicely by taking 20 mg in the morning, and 40 mg in the afternoon, and that actually made the pain go away. Any thoughts?

Are any of you taking any vitamins? I read (think I've soon read ALL there is about this treatment...) that some doctor in the US recommended to take Milk Thistle during the first months of the Cure? It's supposed to support the liver, and I've been taking it before with great sucess (typically after a period with lots of social events and lots of wine).

Hi, sorry I haven't posted in a few days.

My skin went from the worst i've seen it in a long time to the best i've seen it in a long time in a matter of days. Crazy how fast it cleared up. Still getting a few new ones appearing, but they are healing/disappearing a lot quicker than the used to. Also my skin feels a lot softer and more healthy. Overall pretty happy at the minute.

Side effects are just the usual dry skin/lips. I've been getting a bit of a sore back, especially when working out, which is a bit annoying but is nothing that i'm going to let effect me or my workouts. For those asking about nose bleeds, I got a really small one the other day. I've been told they can happen quite a lot.

Don't really think theres going to be too much news from my end until I go up to my full dosage in 2 weeks time.

Thanks for all the suggestion

I actually just picked up rose water from whole foods...sure not as heavy as a serum though

Ive heard of the effeclar H before but thought that was out of the states only?

As far as vitamins I am taking C and a multi as well as hydraplenish and biotin

THANKS for the mil thistle suggestion will have to check it out

Happy things are going well over al on your end

My Dr that I spoke with last night said alternate dose

So maybe 40 one day 60 than back to 40?

Instead of a jump from 40- right to 60

hope that made sense

oops forgot to update on myself..Im sure u are on the egde of your seat

I took 40mg last night

had some brewing bumps, red irritated skin...skin def looking its worst has I head into day #17

The blip on my chin I over-friend (spot treated) so it shrunk and is little open and red

think I am just going to leave it aloneeee!

Seems though stuff is popping up tane really helps it resolve quickly

My face wasnt peeling last night but felt dry (tin man face i call it)

Ive been using vaseline on my lips woth no trouble so I slathered it on than washed my face

i dont know if the minimal amount of time and washing it off directly after helped in the least but it was start :)

Ahh, not sure of the milk thistle thing, just read it and thought I better find out more about it!? May not be a bad thing to suppert the liver during this treatment.

Read about alot of People taking 40 and 60 mg every other day, I actually think that will be my way of moving up. Also the "take the tablets at different times a day" thing (20 in the morning, then 40 in the afternoon) may be a way to do it.

I belive rose water is soothing, and probably a good thing to put on after cleansing, to get the PH in the skin right again. I have used the serum before the treatment as well, but now it just melts into my skin leaving to trace of oiliness. I have to say that my skin is a bit less dry today than it was yesterday, but my nose it changing skin, peeling and looking a lot like rudolphs nose. Love it... .

Still freezing, even though it's supposed to be 9 degrees outside.

So happy to hear that many of you are having no side effects at all. Just need to get this IB done with now!

I must share this experience as nobody will appreciate it outside of fellow acne sufferers. so I had this monster zit on my lip and when i woke up this morning it was really dry and the pus already broke the skin..it was a weird texture thought it was hard...so i gently pulled on it and all the hard pus sloowwly came out in one piece it may have been the best feeling i have ever felt.

Neither did I..must be the tane...but it felt AWESOME

Sorry LOL

I get it

I had that red blip on my chin come to a head...it was just calling me

I promised i wouldn't squeeeze but used tip tweezers to just pick it off

wonky..anxiety release....success....LOL..all rolled into one!

Im bummed I did that and not red and looks like crap but oh well

Ive been thinking more about my dose and have gone to the other extreme

part of me says stick with 30 a bit (40 one day, 20 the next and so forth)

I took 40 last night and feel fine today :)

I didnt turn into a pumpkin...I want to get this over with and want to do it right!

I did feel a little dry today

still no peeling

but I used vaseline on dry skin...left it on for a few...

lightly brushed over with a paper towel than washed, toned, moisturized as usual

does this make any sense

Ive heard of people using vaseline as a night cream or mask on tane

too scared to leave it on over night

BUT it seems thought still tight my skin looked a little more hydrated and my powder went on nice

maybe wishful thinking

thoughts?

hope everyone is having a good one!

chilly here in the NE again

Brrrrrr

Derp that happened to me today! on my lower lip. It was great. I kinda grabbed the lip and stretched it and it just emerged, to my delight.

Has anyone had their blackheads pop out yet? I've read this before on people's accutane logs, but I was still surprised when it happened to me. Three have gone so far like this. I just found them standing straight up on my skin ready to be brushed away :D Ahhh what a feeling.

My skin has been looking awesome! Really small pimples this week that come and go so fast. I teared up today when I saw my face, it is that good. (I'm also kind of a cry baby, but still.) My left cheek is doing the best. I can actually see the whiteness of my skin, my freckles, and the rosiness of the apple of my cheek. Before it was just a red bumpy mess. I can't believe it. It's been like six years (last time I was on BCP) since I've seen that.

Kim: I used to use vaseline as a night moisturizer when I was using 10% BP, and I never broke out from it. It's non-comedogenic and pure, but it makes your face stick to your pillowcase. I'm looking for options that don't come from hydrocarbons though.

Just ordered a bunch of supplies to make my own lotions and creams! The ingredients I got that are specific to facial skin and acne are: green tea extract, niacinamide (vit B3), camellia (tea seed) oil, sea buckthorn oil, and some other stuff too. Can't wait til exams are over and I can don my lab coat and get started.

That is awwwweeeeesssooomeeeee!!!!

Ive had blackheads pop out or come to the surface but not just fall/brushed off

they are holding on..LOL

Im having a bit of a FREAKKKK OUT!

I had that blip on my chin..tried to ignore it...spot treated..wore since starting taneso i cant really complain

this am it was a small whitehead so I took tweezer to it...

tonight whitehead again...so did the same thing...it did NOT want to go quietly.

sO I squeezed the crap out of it

Its still kinda small..ok i made it worse..but because of the location think by saturday I can do a decent job concealing

Ive been so much better at picking/squeezing...always crack after 2-3 days

I already took my 20mg tane but threw caution to the wind and downed another..thats right!

40mg, 2 days in a row

F this..I want off this crazy train..lets just get this over with!

I noticed this happened yesterday after 40mg but sort of ignored it and it went away

BUT my nose..I kid u not, is BRIGHT red

looks like sunburn..I resemble rudolph..it actually hurts a little

I hope it settles down over night

did this happen to anyone else?

Now im concerned with sticking with 40mg

also for those taking 40mg and up

did your dr rec one dose..or split am/pm..my Dr said it didnt matter ..whatever i prefer

wondering because of this fun reaction might be better to space it out?

hope everyone is doing well

Day #18

dieeee acne dieeeeeeeee

Thank you!! My derm prescribed doxycycline for the three or so months I had to wait to start zenatane, and my skin really improved during that time, so I started with a leg up. Here's what my skin looked like a month into the doxy: Eek. Argh.

Kim: I take 20 mg in the morning and 40 mg at night. My doctor didn't say why he prescribes it like that, though. And you could put some vaseline on that angry lip spot. It's great for healing stuff! I say stick with the 40 mg.

Derpface: Oh, I only just had a zit like that on my chin. Popped itself when I got out of the shower. A monster-zit With several heads. So happy it happended while I was home. alone. It looks strange and red now..

Ham: So happy for you! :) can't wait to get there myself :)

Kim: My whole upper face got reada couple of days after I started (on 40 mg), but it calmed Down after a few days. So thankful for my green concealer :)

Day 15: No New big surprises when I woke up this morning, but I'm just waiting for a huge break out.. . My back was painful when I started running yesterday, but after a few minutes it went away. Nose is dry, but bought a nasal spray from iHerb containing moisturising acid (Hydro something?). SO thirsty. I mean; I think I drink 4 liters of water a day, or perhaps even more... . Crazy.

Hey Everyone,

glad to be back...i have been cramming for finals and i just had my last one this morning...feels good to be done with this term, although before i know it I will be back studying till 2 in the morning.

seems like everyone is in pretty good spirits which is awesome..i am also in a good state of mind right now.

update on me;

#Day 25

-im now officially super dry..i have to moisturize my face like 5 times a day and my lips every 30 mins it seems like. I think im starting to improve..it definitely hasn't gotten worse sense i started which is nice..and my breakouts are oh so gradually reducing in numbers and size..i think its hard to notice improvement when its so slow and you see you face like 5 times a day

-i have noticed a few more possible side effects; for one my skin all over seems to be super sensitive..like i got a good scratch on my arm yesterday simply from running it across the fabric on my chair at work...ive had a little stomach pain but that may or may not be due to the drug

**I was wondering if you guys have any advice for a moisturizer to use before bed?.. i use cera ve and it works okay during the day because i can keep putting it on as need be, but while im sleeping it wears off to quick and I am super flaky in the morning.

Hope everyone has a good day

Hi all

What a day!! :)

massacred that blip damn chin
now red raw hard cover..haaaa
*pulls hair*

I normally would have stayed home to pout
but went out and got hair colored..nails...eyebrows
I got threaded
I know waxing is a no no..scared
hurt little more but seems ok
still red not as bad

so think today and tomorrow go back to 20 until sunday,,than ill suck it up
I dont want to go.party looking like a super red clown..Im bringing fireball dont want to look like one :)
skin so much drier after only 2 days 40mg...boys aches, espcially lower back

as far as mositurizer i read about vaseline and the only think to keep flakes away

u could wash put a thin layer vaseline on face..gently wipe off access with wash cloth or paper towek and add moisturizer on top...might help flakes and seal in moisture

and yes my skin is not smooth

it was the first week but now days #17 its bumpy

Kim

Gotta run
