I had a look to the pictures of my first two months and oh god I prefer the point where I am now... no more monster ugly zits, just very small ones. Actually, I'm worrying mostly with all the red marks (my right cheek is quite horrible). At least, I suppose they will fade with time, but I have to expect at least a year before having an okay looking skin without any make-up, and that is if I stop having acne. Let's hope for the best everyone!
AMEN
My cheek blip is going away but i woke up to a BRIGHT red semi-raised bump/whitehead on the side bridge of my nose
the bridge of my nose is very very bumpy WTF?
My forehead is smooth, sides of my face and chin..so for that I guess I will try and be grateful
Just odd to have to deal with this when I never ever had issues in the past and was thinking when my main area of breakouts were 'fixed' I would be smooth sailing..NOT
Im hoping this goes away soon
I have an event Friday!!!
Happy Monday!
Im having such a TANTRUM RIGHT NOW!
My skin is tight and bright red
The blip on my cheek was peeling so I peeled the flaky skin off and it looks worse
and the thing on the bridge/side of my nose looks bigger
hahahahahah
Im done
I just took 50mg tonight of tane..so 75 total
wth does it matter look like shit anyway!
Im starting to think If i took more maybe i would be in a better situation or if not at least I will be done sooner and than stop breaking out?

For my part, nothing new for a couple of days... But I'm NOT going to celebrate.
today I saw a girl in the bus that I use to see from time to time, who was suffering from really severe acne and her skin was so beautiful!!! I am sure she took Accutane and it made me hopeful again. She used to have her face totally covered with big cysts and she had just a couple of fading red marks. I was so happy for her even if I don't know her at all. We must stay positive everyone!!!
Hello All,
New to this forum and just kind of wanted to join in. Just started taking the tane on Saturday. 60mg a day so far. Having some dryness and slight headache but nothing too terrible. The thing that freaked me out the most is Tuesday after I took my morning pill my face got very red/flush and felt warm. It kind of freaked me out! Does redness fade after accutane? I'm hoping it does but read horror stories out there that said it never goes away... Sometimes looking for answers on the Internet does the opposite that you were hoping for.

Welcome Dmstein! I can't tell about the flushing since I haven't really experienced it so far. Today is my last day of month 4... Can't believe it! I had no pimple at all for a whole week... It feels so good.
I lied!! A couple of minutes after writing my post, I realized a small one by my jawline... It's just that they are so small now, and they don't inflame much and I have so much red marks that it's actually hard to tell. But just one new in a week is the best since I started Accutane and it still feels good!
YEAHHHHH DERP/Mary and WTH has been going on with this site..I dont need this added stress on tane
I already feel wacky!
Anyway Im trying to up my tane
I really want to be done in 2 mnths (tomorrow is my 4mnth anni)
same old here...small little blips or red spots...
BUT the side/bridge of my nose is the most congested part..like that makes any sense since before tane I never gave this area a second thought
my worst absolute worst area of my face by far was right side ..I dont think Ive had a breakout there in 2 mnths
I guess my big IB in december took care of it all
IDK?
what else...eyes are dry but not too bad
My hands and arms are doing great and I dont even remember to use lotion anymore
face is dry but still not peeling...always red
the most annoying this right now are my lips
they werent TOO bad but not are literally always shedding...feels like a snake shedding skin
Ive tried everything including Dr dan..but not helping
I dont know if I am using so much lip stuff but I swear lips is swollen a little in the am and numb/tingly at times..
My other issue
is my mouth is so damn dry especially at night
wake 3-4x and need to drink water which makes me tired and cranky in the am
well thats all peeps
is it me, or do our posts sound a little more chipper than usual
i hope so!

Dear All,
I've been reading all your posts since the beginning of the topic. I actually haven't started the tane yet but I'm planning on starting in April. I need your advice please. I know that most of you have been experiencing the initial breakout. Can I just say that Im amazed, as youve been dealing with it so well. Despite the initial breakout you still leave your houses, see your friends etc. Im due to start a new job in April and I really dont know what to do. Is starting the tane and a new job at the same time a good idea? I wont be able to call in sick when my face gets all messed up.
I would really appreciate your advice.
Thanks and sorry for posting my question here. I know I havent started the tane yet but I figured that I need advice from people who are dealing with the initial breakout and side effects.
Hey guys! Totally been reading all of these posts. There's like 600 or something! Anyways I started accutane 10 days ago today and so far my breakout had been terrible!!!! My chin was in so much pain I couldn't eat right at the end of week one. Today is the first day I can open my mouth fully without much pain. I think my IB is about to simmer down. *knock on wood*. Only lasted a few days (from day 6 it started I think. I'm not very dry at all yet. Maybe around my nose. But part of my face is still oily and I've noticed a lot of blackheads. Is this normal? Anyways I'm Male 18, 5"9 135 lbs and I'm taking 30 mg once a day but upping the dose to 60 this week,
Side effects (day 10)
Sorta dry lips but not yet bothering me
Crazy IB. (My acne went from mild to severe) but I didn't pick much (I'm not a picker anyways) so I don't scar much *knock on wood*
Back pain at night (only lasts a few seconds and it's when I breath when I first lie down)
Fatigue (not much more tan usual)
And that's about it. Not too bad! Hopefully it's all better from here on out but I hear people breakout throughout their tane' I hope my IB purged everything out for good!
I went running yesterday and had no problem. I hope that continues!
Also I'd like to point out the weather here in Colorado has been AWESOME!!!! It was freakin 80 degrees yesterday! We get snow until June so this RARE warm weather won't last long so maybe that why I haven't been terribly dry!
**edit I forgot to say I was taking clyndamycin (not sure how to spell it) for about three months before accutane, and stopped 5 days before taking my first tane' pill so I wasn't expecting much purging!
Edit**. Damn I spoke too soon it's FREEZING and raining today,

Hey and welcome
It soooo hard to say as far as what is the best time to start a med like tane
Everyone reacts to tane differently and everyone doesnt have an IB...
My acne was mild and persistant and I was HOPING because i started low dose accutane and had been using retin-a for 10yrs as well as BP daily
I would somehow bypass the IB stage but that wasn't the case
I also had 3 separate IB phases as I increased my dose
My Dr said it would happen in the first 14 days or not at all but that was COMPLETELY untrue!
Its hard to say if you will even have an IB and when that will be
For some it is right away or in 2 weeks..Ive heard of some getting hit at week 4-5
There is no good time to start tane...winter its tough because of the dry heat..in the summer it stinks because of the sun sensitivity
Im a SAHM and i am thankful I dont have to worry about going into work daily etc
I have to be honest that I normally handle meds very well with little to NO side effects and was hoping tane would be the same
Ive experienced over the last 4 mnths lethargy, joint pain, DRY eyes, DRY lips, DRY mouth, DRY patches on arms/hands.
To be completely honest, It has really been a more trying experience than i thought it would be
I have 2-3 mnths left though..and am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and am hoping it will all be worth it!
as many many people say after finishing tane
I often feel a little down about the side effects of tane
Im guilty of staying home on weekends or cancelling plans because of the IB/side effects
BUT what I was doing for the years before tane and trying every topical out there as well as antibiotics wasnt working
Tane wont be forever...and it is getting better!
GL to you!
any other specific questions..LMK
