No drastic changes on my face, the little bumps on my chin really bug me, but i guess theyre not a big.deal. My lips are getting dry and annoying... But my face isnt dry or anything. Im just hoping to get done with school so i can take a break and not be worried about having to carry around an IB in class and grossing everyone out.

Ok wait, i have almost puked because im seeing my skin's texture is horrible. Bumpy everywhere, nothing smooth, its all just lurking under my skin. My biggest fear is that it gets out of hand and not being able to do anything about it. Im scared that it will get a lot worse, and that i end up depressed. My skin has not broken out since the first pill, and i dont know what to think at this point. Its pill #13. I dont want it to get that bad :( help!

Enigma: Just take a deep breath and let things go! At this point, there's not much you can do. Worrying won't help! Maybe you won't have a breakout! Mine was pretty bearable... It was a little more acne than what I used to have, but still nothing too bad. Not as bad as I was expecting reading all the stories here. In my case, it calmed down in 10 days. I am still getting pimples here and there but they are smaller and go away very quickly. I wish you the best! Don't give up! :)

Well about two days ago my forehead was itching a little bit in one spot and I had the thought "I really hope that's not the start of a pimple!?" well this morning there was a little red spot there....now it's a full fledged painful red zit!

This is becoming a real accutaine in the ass! eh? anybody?

Good luck on the tane! I'm thinking of going back on it myself, the first time worked wonders. After 6 months I decided to combat the scarring with Fraxel, sadly - it mad me breakout and although the acne isn't that bad, Diferin cream and Zineryt just aren't getting rid of it. My face has about 6 or so active pimples with some blemishes and redness, the pimples are hideous however.

So I might call my dermatologist and go back for a second course of Accutane.

Greetings my fellow accutane warriors!

Just a note to say I am still around, still getting better, still getting drier, but I am in the throes of my final papers. I will be back on the board once this has all blown over.

I hope you all are well! Wishing you peace, clear skin, and happy holiday times :D

stop the taaane

it will ruin your body. see a naturopath and get tests done instead. You have to HEAL, not treat.

good luck to you, though.

edit:

sorry if that sounded harsh. Just saying to anyone consodering the accutane route, please try the natural first! get tests done to see what's wrong with your body.

the truth is, even if accutane gets rid of your acne, it's only masking your body's real problem. For many users, the acne cme back within a month or a year. and it came back worse than before.

My acne is almost gone becuase i did tests for food sensitivities. I only eat the foods I don't react to and my acne is pretty much cleared. It's also CURED, and not masked. Good luck if it works out, but if it doesn't, go the natural route. get tests for gut health, food sensitivities, and anything else thay might be a cause.

Medication ruins your digestive system, which is what gets rid of the toxins that end up causing acne in the first place.

Melloman: we have all started the tane so I don't see your point coming here trying to change our minds. We are all aware of the side effects and we are willing to take the chance. The thing we need now is support and positive thinking, not to be discouraged or frightened!

Hi, yeah sorry i've not been around much either recently, just been really busy. Nothing too exciting is happening for me. Both the side effects and the improvements have sort of levelled off now, I keep getting break outs on one side of my face but thats really all thats happening, the rest is just normal. Went to the dermatologist to get blood taken on Tuesday. Actually quite excited to double my dosage next week.

Let me ask you guys, how do all of you wash your face gently? I have a real fear of breaking pimples when I wash my face so I recently started using a plastic cup to wash my face...I use it in the shower too and I find it to be a really convenient way to get water all over my face gently...

Well, we have already taken the dicission to start on the Tane, so this is not much of a help. I can only speek for myself, but I have tried like every othe roption, from antibiotics, chinesiology, acupuntur, allergy tests, food intolerance tests, different diets, every skin brand which is out there and different treatments at my skin therapist... . I did see an improvement while on a strict candida-diet (because two years of antibiotics kind of give you a yeast infection), but it was just a mild improvement. So please, we have taken this decission well aware that there might be severe side effects, and now we need support instead of telling us not to take the drug.

Let me ask you guys, how do all of you wash your face gently? I have a real fear of breaking pimples when I wash my face so I recently started using a plastic cup to wash my face...I use it in the shower too and I find it to be a really convenient way to get water all over my face gently...

Have you gotten so sensitive that it hurts to take a shower? I really feel for you :( I have changed my cleanser to one with oil (Decleor micellar oil), and it's so gentle, and I can wash it off in the shower or with cotton pads (no towel though). Have read about others buying a baby cloth to wash, or a silk cloth pehaps?

Day 21, so three weeks today! I have to admit that theese three weeks have been less of a hassel than I first thought they would be. Skin has some break outs still, but apart from two cysts it's nothing worse than it would have been on a bad day (never had cysts, just big pimples). Don't dare to think that the worst breakout is over though, it seems like you can never be sure it will not come later during the treatment?

Can't remember who was training for half marathon, but how is the running going? I had to stop using my Polar clock, beacuse it's like I can't breath properly while it's on, but otherwise good. If I've been sitting still for a long time it's like I'm having a front bone membrane inflammation when I start to walk, but luckily the pain goes away after some minutes.. .

Have a good day everyone! Clear skin is soon on it's way.

Have you tried food sensitivity? And your right. I should know better than to shove my cure down everyone's throats. It just upsets me that so many doctors give others antibiotics and medication, knowing that it messes up their body. A lot of them know why we "western diet" eaters have so many more acne cases than other countries.

Well good luck on accutane. I hope it works out. If it doesn't, don't give up. I'm sure you will eventually find the cause or problem. Remember it's a rash. Not some foreign disease from outter space like the medical field makes it out to be.

P.S.

My allergy test came back with no results as well. A prick test was way more sensitive and accurate to find my problem foods. Sensitivity, allergy, and intolerance are always confused. A prick test may be better than a blood test.

Hi everyone! Glad to see everyone is doing quite good. There are good and bad days!
Derp: when I was in my IB it was also very hard to wash my face without breaking all the pimples/crusts. The cup is a good idea!
Kim : I'm using nothing else than my cetaphil cleanser and my moisturizer. I'm trying to let my skin alone for a bit even if it's hard. I feel like it's irritated enough.
enigma: Happy for you! I hope it continues on getting better and better!
Ok a little update...
day 31 I upped my dosage to 60 mg a day. I have decided to ignore the "take it all at once" that the pharmacist told me and decided to split my dosage in 20 mg in the morning and 40 mg at night. It's not exactly 12 hours between both but I suppose it's okay? It's so hard to know what's best since there are many different opinions out there.
Side effects: my main (and only?) issue for the moment is dry skin. It's peeling a little bit around the nose and between my nose and mouth. It doesn't look very good with makeup but that's not very bad. Lips are very mildly dry but I've been using lip balm like crazy. The other morning I even woke up with my Chapstick in my hand! I had woken up a couple of hours ago and I put some and it seems like I felt back asleep with it still in my hand. I laughed so much!
My nose bleeds a little but it's the exact same situation I was in last winter and it's just so normal for me that I can't blame the med. I will buy a humidifier this weekend.
As for the body pain it's very hard to tell if my light back pain is due to accutane or not since I used to have it before the treatment. No joint pain. No other bad effects.... I wash my hair twice less often which is good!!! I almost don't lose hair at all, I wonder if it's normal. I used to lose quite a lot (I have very long hair). Nothing else to report really. Since my dosage is now so high I'm expecting the worst and I'm frightened but we will see! Okay sorry for the long post!!
Best of luck to all!!! I'm so happy that month 1 is done, can't believe it.

Mary, let us know how you get on with the 60mg a day, i'm going up to that next thursday so am curious. What benefits do you think there are of taking it spread out instead of all at once?

So its been 3 weeks i've been taking it now, week 1 was pretty bad and my skin was terrible, week 2 was pretty good and my skin was looking good, week 3 and its somewhere in the middle. Getting large spots (mostly on my neck/jawline) but they are going away quicker than they would have normally. Excited to see what the increase of dosage will do!
