Hey everyone!
I'm sad to say that I have to go back on Accutane. My first round of Accutane started last year in September and ended in January. So that was a total of 5 months and I was on 40 mg every second day, which i know was a low dosage. My skin cleared up amazingly and stayed like that until July. In the beginning of july, i got a million whiteheads on my forehead, which i thought was just due to sensitivity from threading my eyebrows. Later in the month I started getting more acne, just random spots everywhere and my forehead always had acne.
I went to my dermatologist and instead of going on a second round of accutane, I was prescribed tazorac, because my mom was afraid of accutane's severe side effects. Tazorac is the absolute worst topical I have ever used. Even though it helped a bit, it was as if i has a layer of dry flaky skin all over my face. Putting on makeup was impossible to as the dry skin would just show through.
I have scheduled another appointment with my dermatologist for October 15 and I am definitely going in there with the intent of getting Accutane.
My questions for you:
1. Should I ask for a higher dosage?
2. How long should my treatment last?
3. What is the likelihood of another relapse of acne after my second round?
tbh its not the dose its the total accumulative amount that is key. at least thats what i am led to believe.
since i too am on a low dose, can i ask you, did you get any blocked/white comodones whilst you were on accutane or if you had them already did they clear up/come out?
basically I am on month 3.5 roughly, at 20mg per day. I think my la roche cream has clogged the forehead up (annoyingly). some have infected when i tried to squeeze them out, only to scar... so i am not touching any more on my skin what so ever!
problem is, i do now wonder if at all or when these will become unblocked and 'come out'???

This is the exact same thing that has happened to me. I was on accutane from August-December last year, cleared up absolutely great and only over the last few weeks has my face to started to break out like crazy. In fact, it's scary how quickly I've gone from perfect skin to bad acne :/
I've got a GP appointment next week when, hopefully, I'll be able to start the process of getting a dermatology referral all over again.
