Hey guys.
I just got back from my first derm. Appointment
She put me in doxycycline 100mg twice day
Finacea 15% gel in the morning
Clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide at night.
Does anyone have any advice for me on how to apply these creams or how they did on any of these medications? Did any of you have initial breakouts?
I'm vey nervous about taking all of this and I just want my acne to be clear. Thanks!
Im on Oracea (almost the same as doxy) But my dose is only antinflamatory not antibacterial. Take on an empty stomach 1 hour before any food. Take with a large glass of water (important)
Also I use finacea 2 times per day and have used for months. Will never ever stop using it. Found that its more effective when going very easy on the skincare. I cleanse with cerave hydrating cleanser (half pump) and litterally rub it on my face for 8 seconds and wash with only 3 hand cupfuls of water. Seriously.... do not overwash your face. Let my face airdry. Hour later i apply finacea all over. I dot it all over and pat (not rub) into the skin. Make sure to pat it in till there is no wet residue from the topical. After im good to go as i do not apply moisturizer (my derm said so, but also it makes my skin very irritated) or use makeup (sometimes). If i do need something to cover i take a q-tip and dot my foundation on a scar i have but thats about it.
Im gussing the Bp/Clindamayin cream is acanya? I used to use that- found it pretty good.
Also- I feel you, i really do. My skin has been a struggle (even now)
Drink a lot of water - i actually gave up everything besides water. I only blend fresh veggie juice in the morning and eat quinoa porriage with almond milk. (Intolerant to oats)
Good luck!!!

Did you go thru an initial breakout with any of them?

Honestly i dont even remember an i.b from any of them. My fav of the two is deff the finacea. Your face seems very calm after using it. Also, this is pretty important.. idk why i forgot it in the above post. The finacea on application will (if you have never used it prior) feel like itchy- its an odd feeling. But this goes away like a week or two into treatment. But dont be scared the first two weeks if you see a bit of a change in your skin. Wether that be a small breakout or whatever- it takes more than a month to see improvement. Obviously the medication should be stopped right away if you have symptoms of an allergic reaction.
Also with the doxy what is your dosage? Last time i was on straight up doxy (errr about 2 years ago or so) I got sun poisoning because it makes your very sensitive to the sun. So get one of those boho floppy hats to shove on your head if your outside for a long time. I usually wear a hat when im out cycling- i stay away from sun creams because im allergic to half of them. I just cover my skin the best i can. Also if you have any feelings of light headness, or you feel like..... weirrdddd on doxy stop taking it or call your derm. Because i was put on too high of a dose and i felt like bob Marley.
Also like i said go easy with the cleansing because it allows the topicals to do its work better.
Good luck!
