Hello! I am 16, I have had acne since I hit puberty at 8. It hasn't gotten any better. I've tried every antibiotic, every topical, and BCP. Antibiotics were only temporary and could never suppress my Nodular acne, they also made me feel quite ill. Topicals did so much nothing I'm actually shocked. BCP made my skin so much worse, my acne is definitely not hormonal.

My skin is extremely oily, I heard accutane can help with this as well. I'm going to my derm today, hopefully she will write me a prescription. I plan on using abstinence and none as my BC since I had such an awful reaction to BCP and am religious anyways. Will my derm have to still wait a month for me to get accutane? Or does she decide when I get it? I'm hoping to go on a high dose for three to four months since my acne isn't that bad.

Do you have acne like mine? Did accutane work for you?

A picture would help us better to assess your situation. Your derm can decide to put you on accutane on your next visit but you need to fill out the paperwork that day, go for a blood test in 30 days, come back for a 2nd pregnancy test and then get your script. You would then have to sign into ipledge once your dr does her end of it answer the questions and then take your script to a pharmacy that will hopefully have it in stock. It's a lot of hoops but worth it if your acne doesn't respond to other means.
