hey everybody ok so im 20 years old and i took this drug when i was about 17 1/2 to be exact. my acne was bad until i got into my senior year where i had no other option but to get on accutane because of how bad my acne was getting. anyhow i took this drug for 4 months at 60 gms. 2 months i would take 2 a day and the other 2 i took 1 a day. after the 4 months i was not dissapointed this drug did exactly what it was for. I was clear and i was happy! until it took a turn for the worse. around feb 2012 i started feeling pains starting off with my right abdominal side. then it was my eyesight, to my joint pains, to my fingernails, to my skin tone looking pale. Ironically i started hating life because i was never warned about those side effects. and ever since i been depressed thinking what couldve been, and been unable to focus in school and pretty much has ruined my life.

HERE ARE MY MAIN CONCERNS.

1)initially mild joint cracking, popping etc.then slowly the cracking became louder and wide spread, dry eyes were there from start but manageable joint pain back pain, grinding or churning sound when i rotate my neck etc and in just only 4-5 months every joint in my body cracks!

2) i see many halos and floaters when i look up into the sky. does anyone else have this problem??

3) my skin feels flabby. i.e when i take showers for around 10 minutes my skin and hands become very wrinkly and pale.

4) right abdominal pain. i have constipation so im sure it has to do with my colon.

If anybody has any info or can help in any way it will be very much appreciated! thanks & god bless.

#1 is fairly common, but it does fade for most after a couple months being off it. The others are less common but I would urge you to seek out your GP and get their advice, there may be some actions you can take to offset some of these, but don't delay and have your records from your derm regarding dosage when you get to your GP. They may refer you to specialists, #4 could be IBS which accutane can trigger.

I'm also one of the unlucky ones that accutane didn't work for...I had horrible side effects for 7 months, never got clear, just got worse and tons of scars from the initial breakout that never ended. My other side effects stopped a few weeks after I stopped the drug though. But never got clear skin, just 7 months of hell.

Good luck to you, seek out some specialists and get an action plan to help you.

Here are my 2 cents on this

1)initially mild joint cracking, popping etc.then slowly the cracking became louder and wide spread, dry eyes were there from start but manageable joint pain back pain, grinding or churning sound when i rotate my neck etc and in just only 4-5 months every joint in my body cracks!
