Using Epiduo To Spot Treat - Bad Idea?

Hi guys, just a quick question for anyone with experience of Epiduo or retinoids in general. I know the instructions say to only use a thin layer once a day but recently I've had a few new cysts coming up again and have been using it to spot treat these in the morning as well as using the Epiduo all over at night. Is this a really bad thing to do with a formula that contains a retinoid? Will it harm my skin? It's the only thing I own that seems to have any impact on these cysts so although I'd never go against the instructions and use it to spot treat ordinary spots I can't resist the temptation to do it with these cysts as it seems to stop them getting quite so big and painful.

Also while I'm posting about Epiduo anyway, what kind of timeframe did you guys begin to see positive results in? I'm trying not to be impatient but I'm really desperate to see some improvement soon! I've been using the Epiduo for about 3 weeks alongside over 5 weeks of birth control and over 4 weeks of antibiotics...

Thanks in advance! smile.png

I use to spot treat with it in the morning. As long as your also covering your whole face at night with it too you should be fine. As for a time frame. by week 8 you should see good results and end of month 3 is when your going to be able to tell if its really working for you.

Thank you so much for the reply! Hopefully it won't cause me any problems then. I am making sure to treat my whole face at night as well. 5 more weeks seems like a long way away but it's good to at least have a timeframe in my head so thank you for that 🙂 I'll give it a good 3 months before deciding if it's working too.
