yesterday i got a prescription for accutane filled out and my doctor faxed over the prescription to my pharmacy. When i went to the pharmacy they told me they couldnt fill the prescription unless i had signed the ipledge form and given it to them, which the doctor should have given me, but he forgot to. they told me they'll call my doctor and later in the day told me i'll be getting a call from the doctor about the form and i didn't get the call. being new to accutane i don't know how the ipledge form works, will the doctor be able to fax the form to the pharmacy and i'll be able to sign it there and then get the prescription filled? or will i have to set up another appointment with my doctor again to get the form? also i'm a guy
*or will the doctor call me and give me a username and password for the online ipledge and i could do it from there?
From my observations, I believe the doctor has to enter your information into the Ipledge database each month certifying that he/she prescribed you the Accutane and that he/she has counseled you regarding any issues with side effects, depression, etc. The Pharmacist then checks the Ipledge database or calls to see if the doctor did indeed certify you in Ipledge for that month.
That is what it seems like my doctor does each month I get prescribed Accutane. I would call your doctor and follow up to see what the issue is though. Hope this helps.
