Convincing My Doctor To Prescribe Spironolactone

I have been struggling with acne for ten years now and NOTHING has worked. Accutane did for a while but, alas, it didn't last. (I know this is a problem for many people here.)

So, I am assuming my acne is a result of too much androgen. I have very oily and acne prone skin that affects my cheeks and jawline primarily.

My derm has given me everything and wanted to put me back on Accutane but just a few days gave me bad anxiety so I got off.

He loves to put me on antibiotics but these don't work at all.

How should I get him to give me spironolactone? He is rather stubborn but I would really like to try this treatment. I am seeing him in a few days and I wanted to know if some people had trouble getting this prescription and what they did to get it.

If you want to cover your bases you could bring some documentation and research and studies to your derm. If your derm still refuses to give it to you theme I would recommend going to our obgyn. That is who I get my spiro from and she was thrilled to give it to me and knew all about it because she deals with hormones everyday. Derms on the other hand tend to think antibiotics or accutane are the answers
