I'm wondering if I should just give up on clindamycin and go back for retinoids. My acne has improved but I am still constantly breaking out and always in the same spots. It has been almost two months with very little improvement. How long do I give clindamycin before I go back to the dr for something else??? I'm nervous retinoids will make everything worse!

clindamycin never really worked for me. I had to use something along with it. A retinoid is probably what you need or BP. Your right though retiniods may make it worse in the beginning. You have to commit at least 3 months to see results.

Thanks! I think I will look into retinoids since BP never really helped my skin.

I agre, the thng with topical antibiotics is that it WILL lose its efficacy so you need to use it with a retinoid. I found Atralin to be the least irritating and it did not give me a huge IB

Good Luck

Retinoids do take a long time to work....

I have been on retinoids for the past 4 months (retin a and differin). After 2 months of hellish purging they cleared me up like 95%, but I still have a few clogged pores that come and go. I was wondering if continual retinoid use will always causes clogs to some extent because it is continually exfoliating and drying the skin. I used to have a lot less clogged pores and I only used differin as a spot treatment, which I know is not how it is prescribed, but it worked that way for me for years. Does anyone else have any experience with long term retinoid use?
