Do not stop or change brands. Just try and incorporate a 10% glycolic acid gel in the mornings and take zinc supplement/a multivitamin. I had same results using retin a. Cheers
thanks. I think I'll try the peter thomas glycolic acid hydrating gel. how long have you been on retin-a?
About 10 months now and am loving every bit of it. However, in my 8th month, started having zits again so I started taking zinc supplement 50mg and using alpha hydrox 10% glycolic acid gel in the mornings and my face has never been clearer.
When getting the aha, watch out for the other ingredients added and read reviews before buying. Cheers

was your face oily before you started retin-a? my face pumps more oil than kuwait and retin-a helped a lot, but now my face gets really oily again. Also, what zinc do you use, citrate or gluconate? Sorry if i ask a lot of questions. =D
@itsakstubimi, yes my face was very oily and still oily to an extent. I stay in a very hot region so isn't helping matters too . lol at pumping more oil than Kuwait. However, I use a clay mask weekly to control the shine.
I noticed the aha also controls oil too. The zinc I use is gluconate. I learnt its better for acne. And no you aren't asking lots of questions. Hugs

haha, thank you so much. you've been very helpful. I hope the zinc and glycolic gel will work on me. cheers
Wow, your skin looks amazing. Do you use a sunscreen while on Retin-A? Did you also get hyperpigmentation or red marks? If so, what did you do to help it fade? I'm using Retin-A too but red marks are my main problem right now.
thanks! I actually don't use sunscreen, i know... I should have, but they're too thick and greasy, made me break out before so I never used any sunscreen again. maybe they were just initial breakouts from using retin-a, but I wouldn't know. lol. I used to have persistent red marks, 2 chemical peels got rid of them, most of them anyway and retin-a got rid of the rest. you should definitely try tca. don't do it yourself though, I know someone who did it by herself and her face and neck got darker, it has been 4 months and the dark patches are still visible on her neck. keep me posted.

Me too, I never wear sunscreen although I want to try one bc it's a must when using Retin-A. But I'm scared it will just break me out, my face is not used to having a greasy feeling, I get irritated and would eventually lead to breakouts, so.
Thank you, the next time I visit my dermatologist, I'm gonna ask him if I can do treatment/peels or whatever. Because when I talked to him before about my red marks, he just told me it will fade over time. So chemical peel, huh? Did it make your breakout after the treatment? I just want this red marks to be gone, it really sucks.

no it didn't. my skin was a lot better after. dark spots were reduced, smaller pores and face became less oily. if I could only have a chemical peel every week, I'd do it. anyway, do you use a moisturizer after applying retin-a?

No, I never use any moisturizer since. Like I said, my face doesn't like a greasy feeling and besides my dermatologist never told me to wear one, so. Do you? Also, what type of chemical peel did you get? My red marks are on my cheeks, most of them are slightly fading and turning into pink. I hope it works for me, never had any treatments done before.

I don't either. lol. I had 2 30% tca peels and they were the only treatments I had. do you have a photo of your red marks? mine was more of a maroon than a red. lol

Hahaha, wow. I used kojic acid soap before and I believe it helped completely fade my hyperpigmentation problems. My acne just came back late last year, and i'm happy that i'm like 95% clear now. By the way, what's the downtime of your 30% tca peel? I'm really considering it because I want all of it to just fade away.
UPDATE:
just had my 3rd tca peel 2 weeks ago, most of the dark spots are gone except for one pink spot that loves my skin so much it doesn't want to leave. THREE box scars raised to a point that its not obvious anymore under any lighting aside from being pink. my one and only rolling scar also raised, I just hope its not because my face is still swelling. those are the good news. the bad new is, I have 14 lovely zits on my face and 2 of them are so close to each other that I think they are a couple. i think my zits are having sex... they keep on multiplying!!! I just hope that the 5% BP I ordered will help get rid of them asap.
I'm really sorry. It's been a while since I checked my account here. I was really busy with school. Anyway, my skin is already used to tretinoin. My face doesn't turn red or flake like before when I was using it for the first 5 months. I've been using it for more than a year now. But I think it's not working on me anymore. I guess it still does, but not like before. I started to get zits again, not as many and as big as before though. Anyone here who has been using retin-a for more than a year? Should I try another brand? What brand would you guys suggest. THANKS IN ADVANCE... =D
Try moving up to a hire percentage so if you were using.25% move up to .05% or.01?

sad to say im already using .1%. I went back to my derm and she told me to use 5% BP every morning and retin-a at night. I just hope it wouldn't get worse, I will never be able to handle it if my face breaks out like before.
