Splitting Accutane Doses (Is 10Mg Daily = 20Mg Every 2 Days?)

I'm seeing my dermatologist next week. Initially he wanted me to start accutane, but I opted to try out Retin-A. During this appointment I'm going to try and have him prescribe the accutane.

My question is, I want to try low dose therapy (either 10mg or 20mg daily). If my derm doesn't believe in low dose therapy and is only willing to prescribe me the full dose (40mg, 60mg, or whatever), can I have the same effect as low dose therapy if I take the accutane less often?

For example:

Is 10mg/daily = 40mg every 4 days?

Does this have the same effect as the low dose therapy I want? I'm not sure of accutanes half-life btw.

Thanks

I have no idea but you shouldn't have a problem starting out with 20 mg. That's what mine started me with. Good luck.

Well just got back from the derm and he says he would only perscribe me a regimen of 80mg/daily and thinks low dose therapy isn't worth it. If instead, I took the 40mg pill every OTHER day would this be the same as taking 20mg/daily?
