I apologize if this has been answered before, I have searched all over google for this question.

I am experiencing cystic breakouts more than i usually. I have been us Tazorac for about 3 weeks now. Why exactly is there an initial breakout? and is there a way to avoid it from happening?

Thank you.

Its speeding up the skin turn over process so your basically getting 6 months of breakouts in a few weeks time. Theres not much you can do other than wait it out.

I've been using Tazorac for a year now. It's really cleared me up a lot, although I still breakout once or sometimes twice a month. It took about three months for the Tazorac to begin working for me. I didn't really get an initial breakout. Prior the treatment, I had severe cystic acne. The acne just persisted until about three months into the Tazorac. I found a high dose of Vitamin A coupled with Apple Cider Vinegar (topical and internal) helps keep my acne controlled. Maybe supplementing your treatment, like I have, will help the initial breakout.
