My dermatologist prescribed me a tretinoin cream and recommended the following regimen:
- glycolic acid wash daily
- Neutrogena multivitamin moisturizer with AHA
- tretinoin cream at night (every night or every other night if skin too dry)
I bought the Neutrogena cream but I don't like how greasy my skin feels when I use it. My skin is also peeling a lot so I want to make the following changes:
- glycolic acid wash in the morning / gentle wash at night
- gentle face moisturizer
- tretinoin cream at night every other night
- effaclar serum (AHA) on other nights
How does that look like? Is this going to be still too harsh?
Thank you in advance!
Hey, I would say if you are new to tretinoin then keep all the glycolic items on hol for now and just wait to see how your skin responds to it. A lot of people, myslef included have redness, itchiness and irritation as well as a few extra breakouts to deal with when starting this topical, so just take it easy.
Use a gentle cleanser and moisturiser without any fragrance as this reduces the chance of irritating your skin further, and be most gentle on your skin. After a few weeks your skin should start adapting to the retinoid and then you can start adding other things into your regimen.
Hope this helps.
