Can we please just all get along! Quit clogging up this thread! Isn't it enough to suffer from accutane! In the many yrs of helping those suffering I have found they will do what they want especially those who are desperate for a cure!

I think we had enough back and forth on propecia etc.....

Have a great wk everyone :)

I'm glad some of us can stay focused. Just started taking glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, HA, and collagen. Two separate bottles (one has everything besides the collagen), definitely already noticed a difference. Skin is as smooth as a babies ass. This is on top of the iodine i started taking which works great for morning stiffness and vision. HOORAH!

Your taking HA , I hope it's liquid it is the best , (BAXYL) , iodine is something I haven't tried yet does it help for the dryness or just morning stiffness and vision??? I'm glad these supplements are helping you , like I always said some supplements/herbs actually DO WORK. (=

I'm not taking any serious DHT/AR inhibitors, mainly because I'm poor but also because I don't want to risk dependency. It has mixed reactions, just like the theory of why Accutane still affects us years later and what to do about Vitamin A (I have never gone out of my way to avoid it.)

Currently taking evening primrose oil (I have low estrogen and this cleared up my hormonal acne even though Accutane didn't), MSM (hair thickening, liver detox), milk thistle (liver detox), prenatal (doctor's orders), and extra supplemental magnesium (insulin resistance, mood stabilization.) I only just started on the MSM and milk thistle about a week ago, so I'll let you guys know how it goes.

My hair is dull and brittle and every hair website says I may have too much protein and perhaps my liver can't process it all. I'm trying to back off some and eat more veggies. I avoid sugar and gluten and try to make most of my meals veggie-based. I make sure to drink at least one green smoothie (usually spinach/kale/water) per day.

I just ordered some milk thistle , let me know how it works for you , it is a wonderful herb for the liver that much I know and when the liver is functioning

properly then the whole body works better , I read it is even good for acne hmmm....

It seems like you are being intentionally ambigious about exactly what you are taking; you're not taking Propecia, but maybe you are taking Saw Palmetto? I wouldn't be worried about dependency: I'd be more concerned about a complete system shut down.

Sounds great :). What form and how much iodine do you take?

I've taken Lugol's Iodine twice for a few days each and definitely had a reaction. Normalized my circadian rhythm and changed my digestion drastically (not necessarily for the better). Also felt strange/dizzy/off. Like a bad hangover. Not sure if it actually helped or made things worse. Interestingly I have the same reaction after eating way too much coconut fat. Some kind of temporary hyperthyroidism maybe? Herxheimer reaction?

I had an abdomen-MRI last week and there weren't any gallbladder/liver issues. My pancreas has something going on, but the pictures had many movement artifacts, so don't know for sure. Got another test running for my immune status, looking for viruses etc.

I have a question to all the ladies here who suffer with hair loss and acne. Did you try to get rid of your acne post accutane with use of contraceptive pill? It seems that every time i tried a pill my hair loss was getting much worse and scalp itches like crazy.

After accutane my skin scars so easily I just want to get rid of that f..ing spots. my acne is worse now then before i took that poison and add dry skin to the picture. I read the estrogen prolongs hair cycle so it should really get better on the pill but it doesn't :((. If any of you use a pill and it helps can you tell me which one you take and the amount of estrogen and type of progesterone in it. Much appreciated. Thanks

I just listed everything I took below. No DHT inhibitors, no saw palmetto.

Evelyn-- I haven't tried the pill, but I am on evening primrose oil, which does increase estrogen, and it's cleared up my hormonal acne, but I really haven't noticed much of a difference in my hair. I've been on it for about two months-- perhaps it takes awhile to work.

No I hadn't taken the pill before accutane and I was 31 I believe! I did take the pill while on accutane and I am not sure which one it was but my hair grew thick and long while on accutane and the pill then about 3months after it all started to go downhill with the hair.

This threat is getting juvenile. Someone please post something helpful?! Thanks.

I read a few posts here... having trouble keeping up with this thread... I used to read it and post to it religiously when my side effects were at their worst and I was desperate, trying hundreds of supplements/diets/yadayada, with no help whatsoever...

Until now: please please please, everybody look into Standard Process supplements (Iplex or oculotrophin for eyes) (dermatrophin for skin) , peppermint oil, Picamilon, and burdock(burdock totally helps with ED) /dandelion tinctures...

I think on my last post I accidentally was telling everybody to buy Boswellia when I was meaning to say Burdock, so if you bought Boswellia because of me instead of Burdock I apologize profusely... Although Boswellia sounds like it could help with our symptoms as well, I have personally been taking Burdock with success.

These supplements have cured me, and to be quite frank and honest, my diet hasn't been the greatest and I have drank a lot and smoked pot during this period of healing because I basically said "Fuck it, nobody believes me about my side effects, I have a few hundred floaters a day at the age of 24"... so I gave up but still took the supplements listed above with amazing results.

Any drug that inhibits 5ar type-II should theoretically only help androgenic alopecia.

If accutane-related hair loss is not a form of androgenic alopecia, then it is useless to use a 5ar inhibitor to try to prevent it.

I haven't really read up on accutane-related hair loss, but can anyone say if there is any information concerning the nature of hair loss after accutane?

Hi guys!

I tried so many suppliments, no result. Eating healthy with no result. Detox with no result.

My eyes get irritated 2-3 times a day, the pain its so big, its a hell. Eye drops doesnt help at all.

I lost about 80% of my eyebrows, now i only have few hairs there....looks like shit, there's not sign of new ones growing.

On the head, in the temples area, the hair is receidding alot, also in the center of the head.

I'm really tired. I'm gonna go on PROPECIA.

Has anyone tried Propecia here? does it really work for accutane hair loss? please reply me. thanks guys.

Did you ever go back to a physican and have lab work that you asked me about? such as hormones etc... I know your desperate, but I wouldn't jump so quick to propecia!

Oli Girl, i think i posted somewhere in here my hormonal results :

LH - 6.6

Prolactin - 222

FT4 - 20

TSH 1.15

Testosteron 19.09

The endocrinologist told me that, according to these results, my thyroid is fine. But i'm sure i have a hormonal problem, all the symptoms lead to hormonal problems. But what should i do?? Which tests should i do next??

Could i have diabetics? or some autoimune disease? which test should i do to check the pituitary gland?

I really dont know what should i do.....suppliments doesn't help at all....

Propecia , have you lost your mind lol... hasn't isotretionin taught you anything about synthetic drug side effects??? . If anything try Saw Palmetto like I did

I have grown considerable hair back since taking it and had NO bad side effects , none in fact only positive ones , I cycle on and off it once per year.

Saw Palmetto isn't that innocent either. Search propeciahelp forums for Saw Palmetto.

For sexual sides don't rely too much on supplements.

Try to get your metabolism up with some serious exercise and try intermittent fasts when you are not exercising.

Yah I am taking biotics liquid iodine. I do notice the jittery feeling after taking it but it subsides after about an hour and then i'm okay. It puts me to sleep and like i said no morning stiffness, which is a huge battle for me in the mornings! Also, makes my skin nice and soft as an added bonus. I don't know about long term use, but in terms of getting adequate rest, I will take it as long as needed to get sleep. So far past several nights have been about 75%. Which is a step up from 25%

love the new song. Especially the quick turnover at the end, really tugs at the emotions, like the edge is getting closer and closer.....but you BEST not jump! :)

Maynerd,

What symptoms were you struggling with exactly? My main ones are joint pain and painfully dry skin...has any of the things you tried helped that? I'm assuming dermatrophin helped with the skin...

Its Ok guys, the truth is in my heart - And I know both my skin & hair are fucked~

That's why Im here - otherwise I would be getting on with my life just like i did while I was on this poison..Anyway - I have kept a diary of symptoms as they developed over time this is all accumulative - just like this toxic poison of a drug. Shit just keeps building & building...

To those who say they cannot see the difference - wtf is wrong with your eyes? I assure you that you are either blind or the photos are not high res enough. I forgive you because you have not seen me in real ife and did see my beautiful hair & skin before.

But - You dont go from having snow white skin healthy, soft hydrated skin and thick, shiny healthy hair to skin depleted of hydration, collagen & elasticity and rapid loss/drying/ rapid greying of hair over a 2 year period for no reason?!

AND - Im not going to debate the before & after - I know and I see and feel these effects every waking second of my miserable life - This has been verified by various dermatologists and skin and hair specialists/therapists, So your personal opinions have no value here. Were all taking each others complaints at 'face value'.

Current effects of the dried out wood like skin has lead to open pores all over my entire face, deep wrinkles under my eyes that you only see in an elderly person, this has spread all over my body and my thinned skin is red and blotchy. I look aged and haggard.

I have always looked much younger than my age until this shit.

My gums are also receding from dry mouth, my eyes lashes and brow hair is brittle and falling out. My eyebrows are patchy and fucked. My nails are yellow & brittle and so thin they are transparent. The skin around the cuticles is cracked and peeling.

My skin is so fucking dried out that if I rub under my eyes or on my eyelids it drags like its going to tear my entire skin texture has changed and as I sit here typing my eyes are in agony as if I could just pluck my eyeballs out of my head. I cannot believe what I am seeing. My eyelids have dropped,

My lips are so permanantley dried out nothing I put on them has any effect - exact same as my skin. even my neck is painfully dry and is getting deep creases as well as my wrists and shoulders. The skin all over my body burns and has changed to a yellow mottled colour, and I get covered in chicken skin ALL OVER my body. My back, my butt, my legs & arms, neck are covered in acne that does not heal and everything leaves a scar. I stretch my knuckles and the skin tares its so thin. I had acupuncture and a week later you can still see all the

My nose, mouth, eyes etc are painfully dry. I feel AND LOOK like the walking dead.

I cannot let the sun touch me for even the 15 min drive home from work, it burns instantly.

Supplements Ive tried to date in an effort to undo the damage to my dry and/ shedding hair & bone dry skin (thats done sweet FA):

mega boosted nutrition including fruit, veg protein. Purified water. Elimination of shit foods, sugar, dairy etc.

A vast array of supplements over the last 1.5 yrs - ie. Vit C, Vit E, Folic Acid, iron,Vit D, Milk thistle, hyaluronic acid, flax seeds, EPO, liquid silica, collagen powder, hair skin & nails liquid formula, biotin, coconut oil, rosehip oil, about 20 different moisturizers, manuka honey, avocado masks, every possible hydrating mist/mask/treatment you could imagine.

Water fasting is fucking useless. Last thing our stressed out systems need, but I did it anyway now Im sick as hell but I haven't had an appetite in 2 years anyway.

So hear I am, spent another 280 on Sothy's products over the weekend sure they'll end up on the shelf along with everything else. Spent 130 on acupuncture does nothing 'wellbeing' my ass, um I wish I could leave this body behind, every night I pray I dont wake up tmrw but at 4am bang Im awake.

All my joints pop, crack and burn these days so I guess I also have arthritis to look forward to at a nice young age now.

Fucking awesome.

Supplements will not help, Ive tried everything. Diet nope, I work and I rest thats all I do and my body cannot heal.

To those who say 'dont stress' - my life has been ripped away and I cannot function to be a wife and employee, a normal fucking human being - and your telling me not to stress?

Im angry, angry & fucking tired and Ive had enough.

MY hair loss got worse after the pill...just came off of it. Still losing hair...can't say if it's slowed after going off of it, but i definitely feel a bit different.

I may have found another piece to the puzzle-- one that is incredibly disheartening, at least for me.

I found out that most of the "healthy" foods I love contain oxalates, which may increase hair loss. I had most of the symptoms: painful stool and urination, cloudy urine, frequent urination, brain fog, eye pain, insomnia, anxiety... although I know Accutane had a hand in most of these symptoms, I may have made it worse by eating oxalates.

Spinach is the worst offender. (I ate it almost every day... wow!) Other vegetables: rhubarb, beet greens, okra, leeks, collard greens, sweet potatoes, parsley... Kale is okay.

Basically all nuts are off the table. (Ate a lot of those, too, for protein against my hair loss.) Some kind of beans, like black beans and white beans, are much worse than lentils, garbanzo beans, and lima beans.

Other stuff to avoid: soy, chocolate, miso, poppy seeds, tahini, bran, anything whole wheat, grits, cornmeal...

So let me get this straight:

I can't eat sugars, since they are converted to glucose quickly and spike hormones.

I can't eat gluten, since it hinders digestion and has antinutrients.

Most oils upset the Omega 3-6 balance.

Carbs block absorption of minerals and spike blood sugar, which spkies hormones.

Nuts have lectins.

Lactose and casein are nearly impossible to process.

Soy has harmful phytoestrogen.

Caffeine and alcohol are diuretic, spike hormones, and stimulate excretion of minerals.

Dairy and meats have antibiotics and hormones.

Too much protein overloads the liver.

And now I have to worry about oxalates...?

What am I supposed to eat now!?

Maynerd - When you say cured, do you mean of everything?

Hair-loss, dry-eyes, fatigue, etc?

Was Peppermint oil for digestion?

And I've not heard of Picamilon. What's that for?

I'm glad some of us can stay focused. Just started taking glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM, HA, and collagen. Two separate bottles (one has everything besides the collagen), definitely already noticed a difference. Skin is as smooth as a babies ass. This is on top of the iodine i started taking which works great for morning stiffness and vision. HOORAH!

Sounds great [Edited image out].

And that makes me happy

I know I use this forum too often to plug my songs and videos, etc, but I can't resist doing it once more:

[Edited link out]

Please listen to my new song which I recorded at home today.

It's Accutane-related technically speaking, because most of my songs are influenced by that drug haha

Stefan,

love the new song. Especially the quick turnover at the end, really tugs at the emotions, like the edge is getting closer and closer.....but you BEST not jump! [Edited image out]

Maynerd,

What symptoms were you struggling with exactly? My main ones are joint pain and painfully dry skin...has any of the things you tried helped that? I'm assuming dermatrophin helped with the skin...

Haha, thanks. Glad you liked it :)

I've sent it off to the radio through something they're doing for unsigned artists, so hopefully they'll like it too!

I would assume that post-accutane damage something like a contraceptive pill would not be an option for most. Most adulterants of any kind hit me very hard.
@Maynerd did you have digestive issues and what did you do to fix them?
I added Camaroz to my ignore list in settings; he's obnoxious. Convenient feature.
@Livetoregret Goddamn, you've been doing a lot of smart things, with no improvement. I'm sorry the water fast didn't work for you.
What exactly happened during the fast? Nothing, a worsening? Did ANYTHING get better? Skin is not going to improve that quickly, but any digestive symptoms or mental clarity could. Fasting is much more difficult without a strict paleo diet; I'm sorry it was hard for you.
Given how many topical and targeted things you've tried, I think it's safe to say that these tactics aren't going to work. From the rapidity and ongoing nature of the change, the most likely hope that it would be reversible that I can see is if something you're eating is triggering an autoimmune reaction. My sister had fairly extreme eczema which was diet related, and it eventually started taking over even her muscles joints and mood and energy for a while. I have a similar genetic propensity to autoimmune, which Accutane mega-accelerated. It has been tremendously difficult to find an auto-immune safe diet, but I eventually did it.
Re moisturizers, I've heard good things about these:
I've also heard that Bragg's ACV applied to the face or ingested can help the skin. It's a fermented food, and includes the live culture inside.
I'd also highly recommend this: Butter Oil + Fermented Cod Liver oil
I would stop using all soaps and alcohols on skin, and start using oils instead.
If this is autoimmune, and patterned after what I observed in my sister, then it would take you longer to clear your system of whatever things you can't tolerate - perhaps a week or two. I'm able to clear in about 3 days, so I suppose I'm lucky, but then it sounds like my physical pain is much more intense than yours. Fasting wouldn't have helped her, either, because of the slower clear time, and the fact that digestion wasn't involved much.
If you'd like, you can message me for my Skype or email. I'm mostly done writing an ebook about how to follow a zero-autoimmune diet in both China and the US. We're fairly close in time zones, since I'm in China. Otherwise, if you haven't cut wheat, sugars, even fruit sugars, and processed foods, I'd do so immediately. Also you should start eating organic foods, particularly organic meat, because factory meat is highly unhealthy and likely to provoke reactions.
If I were you, I'd try this week-long experimental diet:
1. Meat: Eat only grass-fed, free range meats (and eggs) and wild-caught fish (in clean waters, not e.g. China). Exception: shrimp, scallops, shellfish, and baby squid are always safe.
2. For carbs, eat only non-enriched rice, sweet potatoes, and peeled fully cooked still-hot white potatoes.
3. Skip all the veggies for now. Plants have lots of weird toxins. Start veggie and (limited) fruit juicing on your second week.
4. (Optional) After week 1, start making your own yoghurt with probiotics, or kefir, to gain the fermented food benefit.
I sincerely hope something here proves helpful. I understand sincerely that you are suffering.
@sbowlchica The above week long experiment should answer your question about what to eat. I experienced a similar negative reaction to spinach and veggies in general. Part of my "Accutane screws detox and creates autoimmune" theory.

Smart moves, great job :)
Just want to say there are a lot of smart people here who I respect. We are making progress despite our suffering. I think we can win.

Live to regret when you are describing your symptoms it sound exactly as what has happened to me. Every single symptom you are describing is what I am struggling with every day. I used to do little bit of modelling too. I lost 70% of my hair and it falls out every day, it also changed its texture and colour. My skin is fucked. The worst thing is I still have acne which is bizarre as my skin is so dry where is it coming from. It scars so easily and my whole back is covered in spots top to bottom. I never even had back acne before accutane.

Joseph I don't think dry skin and hair loss is caused by an autoimmune response. Accutane affects hair follicles and sebaceous glands. I closes it up, that's it. I don't want to be horrible but i don't think that's reversible. That thought is killing me every day.
