i'm still losing hair but i believe it's reduced. i'll loose what seems like 10-20 in the shower, which is awesome compared to the tons i'd loose, but combing my hair i loose a lot more. my hair is still pretty thick so maybe loosing this amount of hair won't make a difference, but i still want to be able to say without a doubt i've stopped shedding..

Paks i used the copper peptides for a while on my scalp and it did relieve the itching, along with the emu oil. It reduced the shedding somewhat and i do believe it helped regrow hair. The thing is it just made my hair look so messy, and now that i have topical steroids to use i only rarely use them. The topical steroids are working really well for me... i have been applying minox to my temples and the clobetasol propinate over my entire scalp and i now only shed about 50 hairs a day? which for me is amazing, coupled with the fact i am having tones of regrowth even on my hairline....

Thanks for the answer lamarr .... i will continue using CP serum along with emu oil even that i dont see a major difference on my hair condition.

The only thing i remarked after starting applying CP & emu is that im not shedding like before.. this is a great thing .. the shedding has been really reduced, but my hair is as thin and messy as before , no improvment really. My hair was almost black before starting tane.. and now almost an year apart it has a color close to blonde.. a damaged condition.

Do you think a steroid would help , or minox, taking in consideration my age as well: 18 . I know you have researched alot about this .. and thanks for your future answers dude

The blondeness as you describe it is a common feature of hair regrown in alopecia areata. We have a diffuse version of alopecia areata. Minox could be of GREAT help to you if you believe you have stopped shedding, you just need to re awaken the dormant follicles....they are not gone for good i can assure you of that...

eating healthy and giving it time is my treatment. for one, accutane has made me very weary of anything i put in my body, especially for vanity purposes. i'm also not panicking because my hair is still relatively thick after a year of shedding so hopefully i got through the hard part and it'll stop soon.

The owner of that site doesn't know dick on diffuse AA or AA btw. We don't get this shit genetically so our chances are much better than someone who does...

I need this hair shedding to stop. I am about ready to hit the 10 month mark and I am literally losing my mind. I am still shedding about 500 hairs a day. I am a female and this is destroying my self esteem. My dermatologist says that he now thinks it's hereditary because it's gone on so long and refuses to entertain the thought of it being AA. I found another derm (no idea if he will be good) but I can't see him until the end of March. I'm at a complete loss. I have lost 50% of my hair at this point and now have bald spots that are becoming increasingly difficult to cover up. How many of you here just sucked it up and tried Rogaine? I am so hesitant to try that since I will eventually want kids and would have to stop anyways.

paks, yea i just using b5 for the acne side of things it really helps reduce oil. i've almost compeltely stopped shedding, now my hair is still growing back in it will take a while but its covered my hair pretty good. i might go on minox to help more, like lamarr said.

Female pattern baldness doesn't start suddenly, female pattern baldness doesn't happened across the entire scalp. It sounds like you have a retarded derm.... You are shedding similar numbers to what i was before i was using topical steroids. My shedding has been reduced ten fold...

I am also using rogain on my temples and have regrowth there where i never thought i would see regrowth...

Keep trying gracie once you find the right derm things will be OK and being female your hair will regrow brilliantly, so don't worry.

About the rogain, there is no problem in you using it now, it isn't like with male or female pattern baldness where you have to use it continuously, you just use it to re awaken the hair follicles....

Not to push more meds on you guys, but ever consider taking propecia, helps you keep the hair you already have.

Propecia is not what anyone in this thread needs. It is used for Male pattern baldness. That isn't what anyone here has i can assure you of that.

Hi,

I would really hope that someone can tell me how many strands of hairloss per day is consider accutane hairloss?

I lost about 20 strands per day in total and that really worry me like hell.

I wouldn't consider that tane hairloss schindler. I remmeber you posting a long time ago, are you on tane at the moment? either way 20 hairs is nothing to be concerned with.

Keep an eye on it then, but do not worry in the slightest about 20 hairs...

In terms of oral supplements i recomend you guys get you b vitamins especially biotin, and you also needs a decent amount of iron but especially ZINC to reduce the inflammation and regulate the immune system.

Lamarr, how's your ex gf doing? I understand that she was on 20mg per day as well. Is her hair getting better or still very bad?

My ex's hair was recovering just fine but the funny thing is she just recently told me that she started applying isotrexin (topical isotretinoin) and her hair began falling out again. I'm sure it willl recover just as it did for her before.

You have typical diffuse AA, just a very mild version. blonde hairs and thinner on the side than on top (early into the hairloss) is typical of diffuse AA. A topical steroid would probably cure you...

The more you look at this tane hairloss the more you can see the severity of it can varey a great deal, the treatement we all need is the same though i can assure you all of this. I know it seems very bold for me to say this but i am certain of what you all have....

Sure it will help to regrow hair, but it probably won't stop the shedding!!

I personally found nizoral irritated me pretty badly after a while. Head and shoulders was good for me... baby shampoo would probably be pretty good aswell.
