Have you tried using rogaine 5%-The first time I used accutane I thought I had lost some hair also, but felt it came back over time. Good luck
rogaine and propecia shouldn't really work. considering they are there to lower the amount of DHT to fight MPB. TE has nothing to do with DHT.
rogain/minoxidil doesnt work like that mate, it increases the blood supply to the hair follicles essentially, they actually sometimes recomend minoxidil for chronic TE, that is what i will use if i end up with un desirable coverage... I will ofcourse shave my head first... I'm tempted to do it now, it will atleast prevent me from counting hairs lol!!!
nope. my derm said that i was to young (19) and that it didn't seem like i had lost in that sort of pattern. (i haven't) my regular doctor said that it could possibly be a thyroid problem, but was most likely accutane and that for all his patients he's seen with accutane induced hair loss it's gotten better. i went in to get blood tests to make sure, though.
I have also had my thyroid/heamoglobin (iron related) levels checked... It's good because i got my results within a few days as they were worried about my cholesterol, which i was already aware was high due to familia hypercholestemia....
Regardless of how shit our hair looks/may look in the next few months i think we all including ithappens, have a good chance of recovery!!!
I am taking all vitamins known to promote hair growth/health + im taking grape seed extract. I use nizoral shampoo but i will soon be alternating it with tricom shampoo (copper peptides) and use the spray that they have available also. I think scalp health is a large concern for us accutaners suffering from TE.

I'm sorry. I totally missed your question.
At my worst, I was losing about 100 hairs in the shower and another 50 to 75 hairs throughout the day. When it started slowing down, I started losing at most 5 hairs. Nowadays, I lose maybe 1 to 2 hairs in the shower. In a day, I now lose no more than 10 to 15 hairs a day.

the past week has been disasterous my hair loss had really started slowing down over the past two-three weeks and then all of the sudden it has started to pick back up again. i went from shedding maybe around 10 hairs in the shower over the past 2-3 weeks to back to about 50-60 this past week. my hair is continuting to look increasingly diffuse and very unhealthy and bad overall. it's starting to become very noticeable too because i can't really wear my hair long to cover it up anymore as there isn't enough hair in the front to cover my forehead. yes im sorry you guys get depressed when reading my posts but i'm not here to cater to anyone i'm simply stating what is happening to me and im not gonna sugar coat it, it is what it is. accutane has permanetly damaged my hair follicles no doubt in my mind. why or how i have no clue but my hair is starting to vanish faster now cause of the increased loss. i hope to God i can get through one more month, but i might not even be able to, like a deformed limb my days of having hair are over and although it's gonna look like shit im buzzing it off. game over accutane 1 hair 0. hahaha

Mines still shedding, seems to be at around 30-40 ish in the shower, not to many on the pillow maybe 10 or so, then probably 30 more throughout the day.... it seems to fluctuate(sp) for me though so...
How about yours? hows the propecia going?
It's been 4.5 months since I first lost my hair. I've stopped shedding. I lose maybe 10 hairs a day.
I have stopped Propecia, but I think I will start again soon. I had pain in the tissue of my left breast, which really really freaked me out. I was not having any either side effects.
The pain has now subsided. I am going to start again. If the pain comes back, I will probably stop for good, which is unfortunate.
Why don't you try 0.5mg? i have heard this is only about 10% less effective at reducing DHT and there is very little difference between 0.5mg and 1 mg in terms of hair re growth!!
Many people on forums use 0.5mg as an intitial dose, also pain in the breast doesn't sound like a side effect i know it can cause changes but i thought it was just tenderness and itching/swelling, pain is slightly unusual though, but im sure possible!!

yea tell me about it. when i lift my hair up in the front i look like some sort of chemo patient cause the diffuse loss all over is very obvious. my hair has thinned out so much i should really put up some kind of before and after pics as i have lost 60-70% of my hair in a matter of months.

go buy a dermaroller, some copper peptides and some minoxidil, i'm still willing to bet you will see alot of improvement over the next year...but no doubt you won't bother replying by then...

Yes, it is the most complex article I've read. I have yet to really spend the time to read it very, very carefully, but from a semi-careful reading, the problem is that the enzyme responsible for removing/metabolizing excess retinol comes from the sebum glands. Ironically, our sebum glands have been shrunk by excess retinol.
In any case, the problem is a function of the amount of retinol in our system. But I do believe the retinol in our bodies is now at a normal level.
We'll be OK, man. We just got to wait.
One other important idea: telogen effluvium in general, not just Accutane-indused telogen effluvium, is sometimes, though rarely, permanent. Just a thought.

Exactly.... I have found a good forum on hairloss, and the expert on the forum and all the people posting on TE, seem to suggest that it can become permenent from any of the possible causes, not just accutane. There does not need to be an underlying cause for it to become permanent.... The expert on the forum suggests that even though many cases do resolve within the 6 month time span, there are just as many which resolve over a 12 month period...
What we need to remember though is that most cases do resolve themselves and that it is far to early for any of us to say that we have permanent hairloss...

that site is full of good information, but wow, if my head gets like that i will be soo depressed. hopefully that is an extreme, extreme case.
