I can understand that Andy, but the two things are closely related if you have a look into it...So im certain that is what Ithappens has aswell.

As Andy said, Happy New Year everyone, hopefully we won't be dealing with this shit by the next one :P

My hair is falling out all over my head. It falls out from the top, back, side, etc. It looks the thinnest on top, but I'm thinking that this is because hair on the side and back of the head is angled downward and thus is easier to camoflauge. I've been off of Accutane for two months now but am really starting to worry about my hair. I exercise a lot and have been drinking water with lemon, hoping that these will help clean out my liver and my system of the Accutane.

i completely agree with the two hair cuts comments. my hair looks like shit one day than the next it looks thick as ever.

The same thing happens to me. lol

How many months off tane passed ? Im 7 months off but my hair condition is still a mess.

Also when i wake up my hair looks very weak and thing and after a few hours becomes stronger;

I will try getting some emu oil and jojoba and some others , mix them and put it on my hair ; Lets see how it goes.

I, too, have the experience of my hair becoming stronger over the day. I think it's the hourly build-up of sebum which makes that happen.

Also, my head is really itchy a lot of times. Is this just the feeling of new hair growing in? Also, will doing thing to detox my system, like drinking lemon water and exercising, help me to get rid of the hair loss quicker?

It's my personal opinion that detoxification won't work, because the Accutane is out of your system at the latest a month after you take your last pill. Also, hair grows in inflexible cycles, so nothing can necessarily speed that up.

I think it's best to assess the situation at intervals of 100 days. Here's what happened to me, for example:

100 days: Stopped shedding.

200 days: Noticed regrowth. Started shedding again.

300 days: Shedding stopped again. Noticed my hair felt 70% thicker.

We'll see what the next 100 days hold in store for me.

Sorry if this has been stated elsewhere but what was your dosage and how long were you on it for? I'm just soooo sick of this shedding and it's making my hair look really bad. I was on 40 mg for 2.5 months (75 pills exactly). I stopped taking my pills around October 25. I'm really worried this hair loss is going to be permanent

I remember how worried I was at two months into the problem that it would be permanent. I'm still worried. But it's HELL at the beginning.

I took two 40mg pills a day for 5.5 months! Ahhh! I was 160lbs.

Ahh this is just a sucky problem because I feel like I have no control over it except to sit and wait. It's the most frustrating thing to just have your hair fall out.

Yea guys I totally agree with the 2 hair cuts. I feel the smaller spikey hairs on my scalp. the rest of my longer hair is like weak and stale almost, I figure that my scalp isnt as visible as it used to be in the mirror because of the new spikey hairs filling out. but yeah I hope this means new hairs to stay. if you want to try a detox you should i mean it cant do you harm if you go on the right one, plus it will help cause it isnt just accutane that you should be detoxing for. it should be for overall health. Also instead of lemon water try apple cider it does really good job of makin you feel good.

Have people found that this problem does resolve itself for the most part? It sounds as if people are somewhat optimistic in this thread? And is it generally just a diffuse loss that fills itself back in?

People with itching of the scalp generally have diffuse AA IF you don't have any dandruff to go with it.

I actually think there is some logic behind detoxing because it has been shown that isotretinoin can bind to receptors for many years. But how you would rid your self of it i have no idea, maybe a certain form of detoxing does work to slowly rid of it, but then again who knows.

Hey everyone.. I have been inactive in this forum for several months. The reason is because since I got on the Tane, my acne stopped immediately.

I'm on month 5, taking 20mg/day. It's a small dose, but since i responded very well to it from day one, my derm said there is no reason to increase the dosage.

Anyway, the last 1-2 months i started noticing some hair loss, not in any specific area of the head though. I think there never was an MPB problem in my family. My hair is thinner now. Oh, and i don't know if this is important, but before accutane my skin was very very oily, hair too.

Since i started it, i'm dry as the desert. Also, my haid feels itchy.

I think that my hair loss is provoked by the drug, but I would like your opinions too.

Thanks in advance,

Marios.

ps: Happy new year!

I don't want people getting hung up on the itchyness thing. Chances are if your still on accutane and experiencing a slight itching it is just down to dryness and unless your looseing a significant amount more than usual i wouldn't worry about it. just keep an eye on it. For instance mine and blazed itchyness is more like burning and i would almost describe it as a twinge sometimes, it isn't just a mild itchyness...

Your also on a low dose which is another thing on your side!!

I'm like freaking out about this hair loss. I had no signs of hair loss before this. My hair is so thin on top and it appears to be thinnest back at the crown area. Is this normal for it to look thinnest on top of the head near the crown area because there is the least amount of hair there to cover it? I'm considering just buzzing it all off...

Thats pretty normal for either TE or diffuse AA. if you don't mind buzzing it off then i say do it, especially if you have done it before. I was gonna buzz mine off and thought i would need to, but 9 months into this i still don't....

lamarr:

I'm about almost half-way into month 6 on dose and one of your posts caught my attention.

I've thinking whether hairloss could've been caused by stopping accutane too abruptly so your system is finding it hard to cope with the sudden loss of the drug (bear in mind accutane has a lot of unknown systemic effects)?

Do you think it would it be wise to taper it down gradually like in oral steroid therapies?

that could be a good idea, and i see no harm in doing that. the thing i find most interesting is that some people have said they have had homeopathic medicen made for them. the medicen itself is made from isotretinoin, they take a tablet send it off to be concentrated, yes concentrated, they then take a few drops per day under the tounge and claim to see great improvement over time.

who knows maybe it is all in the mind, but this stuff is very wierd shit and i wouldn't be suprised if it did work.

i think tapering off slowly is a great idea, no harm whatsoever.

Nah, I think it was a copyright worry. I quoted Radiohead lyrics. Who knows.
