Hey everybody I think I have good news. A few days ago the amount of hair I was losing went down by a drastic amount. It doesnt clog the drain anymore and I can't continually pull hairs out like I used to. I hope it stays like this, but I wont get too optimistic until Im sure its over. Then again it still has to regrow for it to be fully over..
Here is a pic of my hair now after 4 months of shedding.

You know your hair looks fine dude you need to stop doing that silly shit at the front tho haha, just messin bud if it floats your boat then run with it!!
My hair still looks plenty thick enough, but i'm shedding like a beast, i really don't know how it can stay looking as good as it has really!! i'm sure it won't last though..

What do you guys plan on doing if in the end you guys go bald?I think I see some regrowth in the hairs that I lost before but Im still shedding just like how david was explaining his.
David are you on any hair meds?
my hair doesn't look bad at all. if any part of my hair has taken a hit, it's the sides of my head. the top and the back seem to be holding up well. and no, i am not on medications. i don't plan on going on hair medication for a few reasons. i'm only 19, medication for people that are balding really should not help me, and i really am not going to jump onto a medication right away because of vanity reasons. that's what got me in this rut in the first place.
also, here is a picture of what my hair looks like now. it's a lot longer then the one in my profile picture. my hair is also somewhat wet;

http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_dise..._effluvium.html
"Chronic telogen effluvium is recently recognized and not uncommon. It often occurs in women who previously had very thick hair in their teens and twenties and still have an apparently normal head of hair to a casual observer. It affects the entire scalp with no obvious cause apparent. It usually affects women of 30 to 60 years of age, starts suddenly and has a tendency to fluctuate for a period of years. The degree of shedding is usually severe in the early stages and the hair may come out in handfuls. It does not cause complete baldness and does appear to be self-limiting in the long run."
so i suppose that rules chronic TE out..

wow youre hair looks really thick.. and long.
yeah, that's what i've been saying. i've been going through this for 6 months and my hair looks no different than it did, as far as thickness. i think that my hair has been going through regrowth all along, like standard TE, where a new hair pushes the old one out because otherwise it doesn't make sense for me to not experience any thinning or receding.
who knows, i'm completely lost at this point. hopefully it never becomes noticeable if the shedding continues.
just thought i stopped back in and all. anyway, as we're in preseason for soccer here i've had no time recently to really even focus on my hair, but despite of that it still has gotten worse. I am over the 6 month mark now approaching the 7th month and the shedding that tapered off had picked right back up again. I would say that I lose around 40ish or so in the shower compared to the 20 it was down to a few weeks ago. I also recently have noticed that i am starting to get those small red bumps julius was talking about again on my head like they were when this whole ordeal started. I plan on getting on propecia right away, and I should have my arimidex to counter the sides in a day or so. overall my hair has been devastated and i dont really ever see it fully recovering at all. I'm just holding out hope that I can stop it from getting any worse for the time being.

Nah these things cant be ruled out simply from one website saying a certain thing...
They are talking about in a normal person, not someone who has been on a drug that has the potential to alter every cell in your body...i personally feel chronic TE is the cause for ongoing hairloss, how else can cases like julius be explained, because even if he has lupus the shedding wouldnt continue all the time, it normally just fluctuates with flares in the disease, it wouldn't continue growing like it has in him...
then again maybe there is a special form of accutane hairloss, fuck knows!!

I have these bumps aswell... They are slightly raised and seem to become inflammed very easily, they tend to form in almost the exact same area, that being just above my side burns, i can't see any anywhere else but i normally have 2-3 that persist, could you possibly describe yours for me? Hope your football is going well as we brits call it, i used to play alot a few years back!!
I'm month 8 into the shed.. now after about 3 months of normal 40 -50 hairs a day shed my hair started to shed again! could it be another TE episode?sory for not posting here lately i'm in the army..
i'm not sure i understand what you mean here. you mean the shedding has sped up?
ok, so i just showered and lost 33 hairs. atleast 10 just fell down while i was combing, etc, so i'm sure i lost a lot more. it seems like the ONLY time hairs fall down, get caught in my comb, etc, is when i shower. i lose a lot when i shower, but don't notice any any other time, really. i'm completely confused by this.
No idea tbh ron, one thing i am interested in though, have you been out in the sun alot?
yes but most of the time covered with a hat.
Do you notice increase in hairloss after your have been out in the sun? also, do any of your other side effects get worse after sun exposure?
Not so fast, Mark.
I'm shedding again. I don't know if it's the Propecia, the Rogaine, or what. But I'm shedding about 50 hairs a day. Long and short. I have no idea what is going on, but I am depressed about it. I'm not jumping to a chronic telogen effluvium scenario yet, because I am doing so much stuff to my hair right now. For instance, I started using Rogaine 3 months ago. So this may be a Rogaine telogen effluvium.
Anyway. Lord have mercy.
Sorry to hear that guys, i just want a break from this shed, it is crazy i dunno how my hair still looks quite decent, the regrowth is wild though but still can't keep up with the shedding i am also loosing short and longer hairs so i dunno whats going on, people do describe loosing both and still recovering so who knows!!
P.s. Andy my dad has times of shedding/regrowth but in general he is gaining more hair all the time, he is on rogain foam/propecia so...

Yeah, that's the weird thing. My hair looks much better and is getting better everyday, and yet I continue to shed. I figure as long as we don't shed as much as we're growing back, it should all even out. Right?
that's why i'm sooo confused. i MUST be regrowing everything i'm losing, because as you can see from that picture i posted a few pages back my hair looks just as healthy and thick as it's ever looked. drives me insane. i just want to stop losing so many damn hairs when i shower, which is really the only time i notice a lot of hair falling out.
Probably one of the most accurate articles on how long TE can take to recover, you have probably all read it though!!...
As the new hair first comes up through the scalp and pushes out the dead hair a fine fringe of new hair is often evident along the forehead hairline. At first the fall of club hairs is profuse and a general thinning of the scalp hair may become evident but after several months a peak is reached and hair fall begins to lessen, gradually tapering back to normal over 6-9 months. As the hair fall tapers off the scalp thickens back up to normal, but recovery may be incomplete in some cases.

Obviously for those that are fast fowarded into MPB, treatment will help.
