i've stated this a few times in this thread, but my mother had TE hair loss due to pregnancy and then to stress. she said she lost hair for a few months and would cry about it. she also told me that the hair would clog her drain after a shower it was so bad, but that it did grow back a few months after she shed. i guess this somewhat goes with the pregnancy thing.

can you ask her if she noticed it more in certain areas, like temples?
Just had a haircut and he said he could see some of the little hairs poping up, although he didn't even look very closely. I asked him if he thought my temples had receeded and he said he thinks they look normal, perhaps a bit thinner. I would so love it if my shedding just stopped!!!
Dolph i know we automatically think thinning on the temples will be permanent, it may well not be, women even see thinning at the temples more than anywhere else... If my shedding doesnt stop in a month, i'm starting minox, which will hopefully prevent the MPB aspect from progressing, if it is even a factor...

For the record, I think we should all start on minox. Even if MPB ends up not being a factor, it's important to keep our hair as long as possible. Minox is relatively easy to use and will at least delay the onset of any more hair loss in the future.
About temples and recession: I liked the point that ithappens made a while ago, when he said that the temples and the hairline are the least dense areas of hair. Therefore, any diffuse thinning will especially affect those areas.
My guide to whether or not the hair will eventually grow back is the color of the skin where I lost hair. If it's white/greyish, then hair still resides there. If the skin is the same color as our faces, the hair might be gone.
I dont understand what you mean Andy, i know what you mean by the colour difference but surely it's just because over the years sun has not been able to get to the areas covered in hair?
P.s. tell me if i have your name wrong, i'm just fed up of calling you mypoorhair lol...

I hadn't considered that. Perhaps it is a result of the sun, or lack thereof. My impression is that scalp with hair contains elements not contained in the rest of the skin, turning it a different color. Although obviously this is not the case for body hair.
I retract my point.
And by the way, you can call me Andy. I'll try to change my handle now.
I do know what you mean though, along the very front of my hairline, if i look into the hair, i can see a lighter/paler colour skin... This will ofcourse be where the hair (hopefully) fills back in to...
I would like to start minox now, and i would if it wasn't for the fact it will likely make me shed even more!! i would just like the shedding to stop before i start minox really...

Yeah, I understand your concern, but if you're going to start using it eventually, then you'll eventually shed. But I think it's OK if you waited a few months before starting.
GUYS IM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW. I lost hundreds of hairs today and my scalp just started itching like crazy. I looked closer and where it itched there were little red dots. I dont know whats going on Im so scared.

Maybe?
Also, see here. This fits what you previously described as the hair being breakable.
Ok guys, i'm gonna be in vegas for a few weeks, leave tommorow night. Just didn't want you to think i had pissed off or anything!!Wish you guys all the best, and i hope some of you have good news when i return...
Have fun, bro.
Thanks man,
Dolph that sounds JUST like what my scalp was doing around the same point in time of hairloss as yours is. I had a few days where it was SO itchy it was crazy i also had the red dots you are talking about, but only a few. It happened on and off for several weeks and hasnt been as bad the last 10-14 days...
The only thing i could think of was either A i over used nizoral a few days earlier, or B it is from all the small hairs trying to penetrate the scalp at once... Mine has settled down alot the past week... I have just checked my head again and all along the top i have litraly hundreds of half inch hairs, it is amazing to see...
My hair also feels ALOT softer since it has had the ends cut off, which would normally make no difference as i have no split ends, but i guess the hair that was cut off today was growing whilst i was on accutane, so was very dry...
Areas effected by MPB, take longer to grow (stay in telogen longer) and don't grow aslong (stay in anagen), for the same reason...So if you have hairs are on the temples/top of the head that are growing slower, then i'm affraid they may be effected by DHT, the male pattern baldness culprit...
Im feeling a little better now. My body was itching all over but now its gone, I think the redness on my scalp was because I was itching it. I cant take this much longer though Im just losing so much hair. My hair stopped shedding for a week or two and now it started again and its shedding so much its accelerating. I try to tell people about it but they dont understand they just laugh at me because I admit my hair still looks really thick but it seems like Im the only one who notices the difference. tbh Im actually jealous of you lamar because you see regrowth so you know that your follicles werent permanently destroyed..
Thats true dolph, but i am getting worried as i don't see AS much regrowth on my temples really, also it doesn't mean the shedding will actually ever stop, julius is an illustration of this...
We all have different reasons to worry, but yeah i admit it is great seeing all these hairs pop up, if i didn't have that then i would be feeling down alot more...

hows that possible then how does a follicle get destroyed in TE if its just going into telogen phase
