He simply said (in my case) he isn't suprised at all that my hair is falling out, but that again in my case it should begin to slow down after three months, due to the fact mine started 5 weeks after i finished. He has seen people loose hair to accutane and it has always return to normal eventually... He hasn't seen vast numbers with accutane induced hairloss mind you.
What did he say about timeframes for this kind of problem in general? I am so close to the 6 month mark, but I am increasingly doubtful I will see regrowth then.

He didn't go into specifics on regrowth, he just said nearly all of his patients have seen it return to normal/near normal and that he believes mine will also. It's good though because he doesn't lie to me, he has even said this high fever i have had along with the vomiting could cause further hairloss, our bodies are still in a fragile state after accutane and i believe it's gonna take time.
How long did your shedding stop for? least you can pretty much rule out chronic TE, do you see any regrowth at all? because it won't be significant for a while yet...Your shedding now will be due to minoxidil stimulating healthier hair follicles, i'm sure of that (three more months and you will notice regrowth, i'm willing to bet on it in your case).
They say 6-8 months for the shedding to stop and year for it to return to as normal as it will get without treatment, even then that's not to say that minoxidil/copper peptides/propecia can't improve on where you end up at in 6 months from now. It's a pain in the ass though and all i hope for is that i don't get any recession along my hairline.
I can see your reading the thread david, how are you holding up mate?
hello im new here, and i would like to state that i am also in lamarr and others situation with the hairloss, it happened about 1 month after tane and but i have been off tane for 4 months now and take away 1 month from the tane actually leaving my body so about 3 months 2 to actually off tane, and hairloss has basically stopped. I am using Biotin supplements and flax seed oil(with omega-3 fatty acids) heard it was good for your hair so i guess thats helping my hairs texture is improving slightly nothing major yet, but can't wait till this summer is over so i can see if this is permanent or not if it is then propecia it is and rogaine, then a hair transplant. I will keep updates and let you guys know what's up with my hair.
yea im glad it has basically stopped as well, I wish I would have done something like taking biotin supplements when I first noticed hairloss so I might have stopped sooner. Because now you can see my scalp when I wet my hair so im avoiding pools/beach(which is a major bummer for me) but when my hair is dry you can't really tell, you can only see that my hair is a different texture than it was before, my hairline is still intact so im glad for that, Also if anyone is on head and shoulders please stop and is trying to help their hair by using head and shoulders stop, because it drys your hair way too much and increases hairloss. Also try a protein shake, hair is protein so that is def going to help, i am on one now. Also i've read, i know it might not seem healthy but, try eating fatty foods, like pizza and stuff, i know this was a nightmare before accutane because it would cause me to break out but i also noticed when i would eat more fatty foods, my hair would have more grease as well as my face hence where the pimples come in, but accutane has stopped the pimples from forming after eating fatty foods but still i noticed an increase in hair grease which is goodbecause that means my sebaceous glands which is the cause of my hairloss they are not producing enough grease for my hair, are working and not dead. but yeah those are my tips hope they help if anyone has got some good tips please share.
also, guys trying rogaine, I've read that it causes you to lose your hair then after you lost your hair it regrows a kind of peach fuzzy hair., can anyone back this up?, scalpmed so far i havent read anything bad against scalpmed so I might be going to that soon if my condition doesn't improve.

I think the peach fuzz from rogain is mainly seen in men with MPB, on areas which they already had no existing hair!!
that's probably true, let's hope so because i plan on getting on some minoxidil type of treatment like rogain or scalpmed and i don't want that peach fuzz crap. but yeah, has anyone seen some improvments in their hair in general and what are you using to help your hair?
I'm using just the Rogaine. I started only about 3 weeks ago. It really dries out your hair.
Other than that, I've been on and off (mostly off) the biotin. I'm just not convinced that it really helps.
I agree that peach fuzz only applies to MPB, by the way.

hey, do you have some photos of your hairloss?
Yea I been wanting to go on the rogaine but its such a hassel afew times a day? and has to be everyday, that's why im lookin at scalpmed, its says it only needs to be used 1 time every so often. can you tell me if your seeing any improvments with the rogaine and how many times do you use it. thank you

No success yet. I use it twice a day, as directed.
I will post pictures soon. I hope this weekend.

I really like your attitude towards things at the moment mate, i hope things are going as well as they can for you!!
Hey guys- I have been keeping up with this thread but never posted in it. I am experiencing hairloss after accutane but I don't think it is that bad. In the normal day I will not see that many hairs falling out. I maybe see 8-10 fall down in front of me or on my shoulder or whatever throughout the whole day, sometimes less than 8-10, occasionally a little more. However I usually try and avoid seeing my hairs fall because it is stressful so I never touch my hair or anything, and I avoid inspecting it closely in the mirror. However when I do inspect it in the mirror I can always find a couple loose hairs sticking out, and when I did both my hands into my hair and pull out I usually get between 1-4 hairs on each hand. Many say they lose 30-40 or 50-60 or whatever it is, but is this with just leaving your hair alone and those are the ones falling out right in front of you, or do you lose that many by looking in the mirror, finding loose hairs, running your hands through your hair, ext. ?? Also is it possible that I just have a mild telogen effluvium where there is not a massive hairshed but simply a little more hair shed than usual. By the way I am just about 2 months post accutane and noticed increased shedding in my last month.

Hey man, I think we all guesstimate slightly with the hairloss, best way to guage is in the shower... I would say i loose between 60-100 hairs a day, with about 35 ish being in the shower. Now you will know what is normal for yourself... I can run my hands through my hair every few hours and get several hairs...
Remember TE is an increase in telogen hairs (resting), so before you may of only been loosing 20 hairs a day, now you loose 80... Some people can loose 100 a day and still not see a change in hair density, due to this being normal for them...
Yes it's definenetly possible you have a milder form of TE, mine is definently not as severe as it could be....but i feel this is due to me normally loosing no hairs before this started, for me i used to never see any hairs anywhere, in the shower or anything!! You may be the same as me...

I have been shedding almost exactly 2 months, some days it seems to slow down then others the same as usual....
I rub both hands all over my hair twice during my daily shower, count hairs both times and on both hands, i loose about 30-40 hairs (in total) this way EVERYDAY, i also loose about 15 on my pillow on average and about 30 throughout the day(atleast) so i would say you are loosing very little compared to the rest of us!!
General rule (although it can last much longer) is that shedding should begin to subside after 3-4 months, can stop sooner, sometimes much later...
And for mypoorhair, all forums talk of the minoxidil shed 'instructions for Rogaine 5% warn of a shed between weeks 2-6 and it is perfectly normal and taken as a good sign'
So there you go mate, keep your head up, stay strong and try to enjoy life, I'm of to las vegas in a week and will be doing my best not to let this hairloss get to me!!
Ok it's been about 4 months since I got off accutane and for a month my hair loss stopped but now I think it's started again, I'm losing a lot of hairs they're all over the bathroom and they have a bulb at the end but also a white sheath, is that still a telogen hair? As I was typing this a hair fell down into my eyes
by the way guys I swear I jinxed it by posting a while ago about how my hairloss had stopped..
I Sent you a pm a while ago dolph, how long did you shed for in total? i know it started 1.5 months into accutane, but how long did you shed for and how long were you on accutane in the end?
One thing i have read is that accutane can make you shed in a cycle for the rest of your life, this is not to say you are loosing more hair than you would of done, but just means you shed it all in one go, then it totally stops for a while. I would think yours will stop again in a few weeks...
Hi everyone,
A few updates:
I think I've stopped shedding again (I think!), which means that the second shed was indeed caused by the Rogaine. The Rogaine website says the shedding stops after 3 to 4 weeks, and indeed it has.
I am experiencing a strange phenomenon, where my hair is easier to comb and feels thicker than usual. I can poof it up again. That said, it still does not look normal when wet. That's my goal: to be able to come out of the shower, not comb my hair, and look normal. This problem is getting more depressing by the day.
Here is a question for you all:
Do you think the hair comes back all at once or in parts?

Lamarr is referring to "chronic telogen effluvium," which is rare in males. I wouldn't worry about it.
I think, Rogaine or no Rogaine, a second shed might be a good sign. You know how a lot of people say that shedding is a sign of new hair growing in? Well, I don't necessarily believe them, but I do think their scenario is more likely in the later months of the problem.
