I'm 40 and this is happening to me right now. I just moved into an apartment that used to be a factory and believe my apartment is above what would have been the boiler area. There is a strong chemical smell (I assumed it was the paint). What state were you in? I also believe I may have neen exposed to mold.

Its been quite some time since I have visited this site. I apologize for not seeing this post. I am in NY. Since my original post, I believe that I was exposed to a chemical, possibly something being emitted from the old heating system. As I said before, I was above an old boiler room. My apartment had steam radiators that seemed to emit some vapor even when turned off. I did not identify the toxin causing my reaction. By the time I followed up with my doctor my symptoms had already been clearing and i thought it would be unlikely to determine the cause at that point. My best advice is that if you think something in your environment is affecting your health move ASAP!

Gosh, I'm so glad you moved and are on the road back to good health.
