I have one small concern, in a few weeks I plan to go on a trip for anbout 5 days, I wont be able to take the juicer. I plan to substitute with commerical carrot juice which is refrigerated not canned, not ideal but do you think this would be OK if I follow everything else?
)
Yes, five days is too short a time for it to make any significant difference. Also, if commercial carrot juice is indeed the best fix available, then there's no point considering it any further. Finally, there will always be times when following any regime is not possible. Don't substitute one prison (the misery of acne) with another (enslavement to a treatment regime). So concentrate on the trip and don't worry about your face!
Very good luck, Im doing this too. I have been doing this for a bit over a week and its certainly not hurt me at all, I like the juice and I have high hopes.
WIshing you cler skin by your birthday!
Thank you so much
I really like the juice as well! The cleanup is not bad at all really. The Phillips one i got is pretty good mostly a rinse job - the only scrubbing is the blade/filtery bit. And the juice is really smooth. No need for ice or water or anything. Still playing with different tastes. Its fun i'm enjoying it.
Good luck to you too.
I just wanted to provide an update.
It is working!
I've been juicing and/or making smoothies every day for about two weeks. Almost every day last week I made two smoothies or juices per day because everything I've made tastes so good. So I'm drinking about 16 ounces a day. I'm also taking B5 and L Carnitine as recommended by the wise Winged Serpent I have reduced my sugar intake, but have allowed myself a bit here and there, and whenever possible have opted for artificial sweeteners. Knowing I have artificial sweetener as an option is helpful for me mentally, even if I eventually cut out all sweet foods (except for my banana, cocoa and kale smoothies!)
I'm not following WS's regimen exactly because I'm sticking with my topicals of retin a micro, moisturizer, etc. I'm also taking 50 mg of zinc piconolate, fish oil and just recently added saw palmetto to stave off any hormonal breakouts. My period is around the corner and if things start to go downhill, I'll add a dose or two of doxycycline, just to ride it out. My plan is to get clear and then experiment to see if I really need saw palmetto or not.
My results: my skin is so much less oily and it looks healthy - less congested and dull. I've had a few minor breakouts but they don't get too inflamed and have healed very nicely. This is the skin I remember having when I was younger!
I am sure the reduction in oil is the B5/L-Carnitine. I've read up on it and it is working exactly as others have described. It took a few days, but the reduction in oil and the overall appearance of my skin has noticeably changed. I literally no longer need to blot the oil off my face! My make up looks so much better. Once my PIH is gone, I will stop wearing foundation! Cannot wait!!
I didn't want to jinx myself but I decided to post anyway, because I have a feeling I won't be visiting this site any more. I'm confident that at the rate I'm going, this will be a long term solution for me. Of course, if it doesn't work out I will follow up, but I'm going to keep thinking positive thoughts.
Hopefully, this will inspire others to give this a shot. Also, I've learned a few things that I want to share:
You don't need a juicer to make juices!
Blending green smoothies works well if you want something sweet, like with bananas and mangos with kale, spinach. This makes a great breakfast because you are getting the fiber as well which is very beneficial to your health.
Otherwise, if you want to make something that is not sweet, I recommend juicing. I like to juice greens, like kale, cucumbers with something low sugar, like apples or pear. Adding a lemon cuts down on the bitterness. This makes for a very mild and refreshing drink, especially served on the rocks. In fact, my boyfriend and I went crazy this weekend juicing everything we could find and adding a shot of gin. Best bloody mary's ever!
I think juicing lots of sugary fruits, like pineapples and oranges, isn't the best idea. Fortunately, I've never had much of a sweet tooth so the green juices appeal to me. And if you use a blender to juice, you can literally juice anything. At first I thought I was going to have to buy a fancy auger type of juicer in order to juice greens, but the blender has worked really well for me. Anyway, there is so much advice out there on juicing - I advise you to read up on it! It truly is a way of life - I want to convert everyone now!
Finally, a big huge gigantic thank you to Winged Serpent for the advice and inspiration and calm and rational guidance.
Take care all, and good luck!

Its easier to clean if you use a toothbrush, at least on my model. Maybe because its new but Im really having fun making the juice, giving it to my husband and son also (OK he only likes ones with fruit but its a start).
Hi,
Another member recommended your system and I'm going to give it a shot. It seems to be one of the very few things I haven't tried at 31. I have a fructose malabsorption issue, so I guess I should research the fructose levels in all the veggies. In the process of trying this, did you ever notice certain veggies were harder to digest or more difficult to palate?
Thanks for putting up such a comprehensive post. I really appreciate it.
Shay
Hello Shay,
The best thing to do is to check out some juicing websites. I've never really been into juice recipes since I'm not too bothered what it tastes like, I just want to get the maximum skin benefit, and I don't mind too much if it's not that palatable.
However, I can tell you that cabbage, leeks and onions should be used in only very small quantities, if at all, as they can quite easily render a glass of otherwise pleasant juice completely undrinkable! Also, certain green leafy vegetables, if overused, such as kale, can also make a drink overpowering. I've had a couple of instances where I felt quite nauseous after overdoing some of these strong vegetables, so it is wise to take it easy at first until you know what you can tolerate.
People often start juicing carrots to start. I'm not a huge fan of using lots of carrots since they are very high in sugar. It is far better to use sweet potatoes mixed down with something neutral like cucumber or courgette (that's a zucchini for you guys in the US) and a pepper to give a broader spectrum of nutrients with less sugar content.
I will update the FAQ in the near future with some of these general observations about recipes and some links to juicing sites.
Good luck with the program.
Hey.. quick question. Do you think its better to drink the juice on empty stomach?
hi just wanted to add my update, Ive been doing this regime about 16 days so far, and while I still have a few actives on my face, pretty much all my body acne has gone. I had slight acne on my shoulders and occasionally my chest and its clear. SO far so good! I aldo feel healthier in general.
One warning, the sweet potatos and yams must be different, I tried juicing a yam and it kind of burned my lips and mouth a bit, irritation of some sort. I dont be doing that again lol. The best juice for me seems to be carrot, celery, cucumber, romaine lettuce, beet and parsley or some combo of those.
Hey winged thanks for sharing your experiences. This site came to my rescue 8 years ago and have been using the same regime as the founder twice a day ever since. The BP works amazingly, but I cannot come off it- if I miss a session it backfires!!
So I figure its time to replace my daily redbull with something a little healthier- got my juicer today and started juicing straight away!!
Hey I just wanted to post a little thank you! I've been using this regimen for about 2 weeks and honestly, my acne never looked better than it does now! I've added zinc supplement to the mix too, and I take that and the other supplements with my carrot/sweet potato/orange/cucumber/celery juice every morning. So again, thanks for so generously posting and following up this great thread! I would just like to reiterate to anyone thinking of trying this, make sure you check how loud the juicer you're about to purchase is. I got the cheapest one I could find for under 30 but it's driving my roommates/neighbors crazy.
Also, I was wondering to anyone who has been successful, did you have hyperpigmentation/marks? Did you find that the regimen helped your skin heal faster naturally or did you have to topically apply something? My acne is nearly all gone but my skin still looks bad from the marks

No-one can guarantee that any drugs/supplements will be entirely side-effect free. What can be said is that I was unable to find reports of side effects with this level of supplementation. And, if you read the FAQ on page 1, I am hardly strongly pro-supplement!
However, one's fear of possible side effects (in this case, hair loss) may be so significant that they outweigh the potential benefits. If this is the case for you, then it should be a fairly simple decision not to take B5. There is no point having clear skin if you wake up everyday scared to see hair on the pillow! That is the bottom line.
Don't forget, you may well be able to gain significant benefit from the juice/sugar elimination steps only, without B5.

You're welcome. I'm pleased to hear it's helping you.
Unfortunately, centrifugal juicers are by their nature noisy.
Your pigmentation marks will disappear in time. L carnitine is very useful for that. The younger you are, the quicker they will fade, but it is important to keep them out of strong sunlight. Since I live in London, that was not generally difficult for me (although having said that, it's a beautiful day today) but it might be more of an issue for you over there in California!
Hi Wingeserpent and THANK YOU for the vegetable juice idea. I had never heard of it but after reading your post for about 1 month ago I bought a juicer and started juicing vegetables every morning. I've been juicing mostly potatoes (regular) and carrots, trying to get better from my gastritis (read somewhere on the Internet that potato juice is alkaline and good for stomach ailments) and guess what! My mild acne is completely gone (it took about 10 days), my blackheads are 90 % gone ( I had a LOT of them) and my skin looks better than ever. I am 39 years old and I have never had so clear skin! My skin is still very oily but the acne is completely gone, and my energy level is amazing. Wish I knew about this years ago! My kids drink now apple-carrot juice every morning and I will keep on juicing!
Greetings fr Portugal
I just wanted to provide a quick update.
I now know that the saw palmetto is what drastically reduced my oil. I stopped taking saw palmetto after my period started, and the oiliness came back after a few days and I got a couple of pimples on my jawline which indicates hormonal acne. I took one 160 mg pill, and my complexion became matte again.
I'm intrigued by what saw palmetto is doing for me, but I am not willing to stop the b5/lcarnitine + juicing regimen. The science behind it makes sense, and I feel good doing it. Besides, I haven't given it enough time to say whether or not it works. I did notice that it helped my chronically chapped lips and my skin is much softer.
As for saw palmetto, it seems like it works really well for me, but it also acts as a sedative and makes me extremely dehydrated. I wake up in the morning feeling groggy and completely parched. I kind of like that it makes me tired, so I'm taking it at night now and I'm drinking a ton of water all day. So for now it's bearable, but I'm reading that others who have used it eventually had to stop because of "brain fog" and tiredness. It does inhibit the absorption of iron, so perhaps long term usage is associated with anemia? Who knows? There isn't much info on saw palmetto for acne on this site, or at least it's buried. I definitely plan to research this more. Maybe my fantastic results are because of the saw palmetto working synergistically with the b5/l carnitine? It's hard to say. But I do know that juicing helps give me energy and low sugar is just a good idea for general health.
Anyway, I'm grateful that I've found something that seems to be working. Best of luck everyone!
Wait a second, isn't it because of all the vitamin A that this diet works so well; I didn't even know that sweet poatatoes contain more vitamin A than carrots do. Accutane is all about vitamin A, so it makes sense that this diet would work well for acne. As for vitamin B5; isn't that a hormone regulator? Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.. Thanks.
I really like this thread. This guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about! That said, I must share my story.
I had cystic and nodular acne for 17 years. Very oily skin. Acne runs on both sides of the family. One day I went to the dermatologist. She prescribed me BenzaClin, it's benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin, a topical antibiotic. I just put a little on after I wash my face with Cetaphil, then follow up with moisturizer. I instantly stopped breaking out and now get a tiny one every month or so. Also, I wash my face with a Clarisonic Mia, which got rid of the blackheads before I even went to see the derm. I don't think my results are typical but seriously give it a try. I logged on today just to share this in the hopes that it might help someone else.

do you use it once or twice a day the Benzaclin?
I love this thread. I do believe there is a link between what you put in your body and acne. And even if there isn't, eating well has endless benefits to overall health so there is no harm. I highly recommend a documentary called "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" to everyone. It's related to his whole juice idea and the benefits of it. It's actually a pretty good movie too and I guarantee it will inspire you to change the way you eat
Juicing is so good for you!! I'm gonna save up to buy a juicer. I saw smoothie is as good as juice, so you can make smoothies consist of leafy greens.

½ Beetroot
4 Carrots (Big ones)
3 Celery sticks
1 Apple
1 Lemon (without peel)
5 Lettuce Leaves
Cucumber (5 centimeter) LOL
This recipe produces about 3 glasses and it tastes fucking awesome!! The Juicer is my best investment this year! Be careful with the beetroot. To much of it can ruin the whole juice because the taste is strong and the aftertaste is horrible! [Edited image out] .. The energy you get it amazing. Almost like a drug. Fuck redbull this is the shit! [Edited image out]
Edit: Day 3 = My skin and eyes are glowing.. can't tell if my acne is getting better but I know it will in a week or so! [Edited image out] No matter what I aint stopping this juice thing!
Juicing is the best thing ever. You breakdown fibers, etc which can be digested a lot easier and your body won't work hard breaking down food.
I make smoothies which is good too, but juicing is better. I plan to start saving up and buy a juicer to try this recipe. There are a lot more. I have lots of vegan friends on FB and I hope they can share some with me
