Thank you :) I will get pics uploaded asap.

Day 26: The other day in work some horrible old man decided to give me a "tip" about my skin, he told me to use lemon juice to help clear it but i mean, what the heck?! As if i wasn't already conscious enough about it he has to go and point out the bloody obvious. YES i know its bad and i'm dealing it! Apart from that there is nothing new to report, accutane seems to be taking forever to work but i suppose my acne is persistent so what else can i expect really. One thing i have noticed though is that the skin above my problem areas (forehead and tops of cheeks) has become super smooth so that's quite nice. Got my first check-up with my derm on Thursday so hopefully my blood work is ok so i can continue :)

Hey charlotte, I'm about 6 weeks in and I've noticed the same thing! My problem area is lower cheeks/jawline and my forehead/upper cheeks have been extremely smooth. It's nice to know that soon your whole face will feel like that :)

Well my acne has definitely been the worst it's ever been since bein on accutane, but I can assume it's a good thing as it was pushing everything out. No new acne in spots I wouldn't have it normally, but it would just be much more inflamed and red. I had to get prescribed prednisone for 15 days to lower the flaring and it definitely did, but today was my last day of taking it so I'm PRAYING it doesn't flare out again.

I believe I'm starting to exit the IB phase as I'm not getting the big nasty pimples I used to, but I'm knockin on wood.

As far as side effects go I have the normal dry skin/lips/nose, and I also just got an eye stye which sucks but that'll go down soon! Nothing I can't handle :)

I'm sure things will start clearing up soon! Good luck with your course!

Thank you! Good luck with yours too :)

Day 32: Feel like i haven't been on here in ages but i'm getting so fed up of not seeing any progress. I know its only been a month but i cant help but feel impatient :/ Some days i feel so positive about being on accutane and others, well... not so positive! My skin is a lot better compared to my initial IB phase however i now have loads of red marks left behind from where the spots used to be. They don't look too bad which makeup on though so its ok! As for side effects i'm still having a slight issue with my nose and i went to the gym for the first time since being on accutane and my back hurt so bad! Probably due to the fact i've not been in so long though! Determined that by the end of this process i'm going to have clear skin and be in the best shape possible (2 birds, 1 stone). Also the crease bit of my chin has cracked which is quite sore :(

But on a more positive note, the blackheads on my nose have completely gone :D Got about 8 whiteheads just now so about the same as when i first started. I'm gonna take this as a positive sign though!

Week 7: (I've lost count of days)

Feel like i haven't been on here in ages!! My acne sort of cleared up for a bit and i totally forgot it was ever a problem! Don't know if you guys have heard of a thing called 'snap chat' but its fun app where you can send pictures to friends, normally i'd take photo's of random objects but now i've started sending silly ones of me pulling faces. I've had so much more confidence! Even went to the gym without any make-up on, woohoo :D I probably had about a week of clear skin and now have a couple of annoying pimples but it is that time of the month so suppose its to be expected! My lips on the other hand.. not so good! I spent a week in the library working on one of my final uni assignments and forgot to drink 2l of water a day so i think the dryness/soreness is due to dehydration but hopefully it clears up soon. Over all i'm pretty happy with the progress so far, there's still a long way to go but compared to the IB things are so so soooo much better! I've kind of forgotten i'm taking Accutane, it just seems like a part of my life now! At the start i was a little worried about side effects but i've had the bare minimum! Only thing i would say is MOISTURISE!! I've developed eczema on both my hands, again probably due to being dehydrated! But apart from that only positive feelings towards accutane :D

why do you get one/two good weeks of clear skin and then BAM acne is back?! my derm said i should notice huge improvements in my skin come the second month but i'll be starting my 3rd month next friday and i'm only supposed to be on accutane for 4 months...

Don't worry Charlotte I'm the same, I'm done in mid-June and I'm still breaking out. I think it basically happens until the last couple of weeks, maybe someone else can confirm that? You'll really start to see your actual underneath skin by about 14 weeks and then you'll know that even though you get the odd pimple, it's really working...

Week 11: Haven't been on here in ages due to exams but I can't believe how quickly the time has gone! Only 1 more month left, eeeek!!

Electricbetty, my skin is looking really good just now!! Still have the odd spot and a LOT of red marks where I've picked but i'm sure those will fade over time! How are you getting on? Are you almost finished?

Still suffering from horrible dry/cracked lips so my derm gave me a steroid to help heal the corners of my lips. The corners have healed now but I still need to apply lip balm like 20+ times a day which may seem excessive but its needed! My skin is still really dry so just need to keep applying lots of moisturiser which I always forget to do :/

Apart from that everything is going to plan, my skin is clearing up nicely and I haven't had any bad side effects :D It's taken its time but accutane seems to be doing its job!! Definitely worth suffering through the IB and any other bad breakouts!

Week 13: My skin is looking SOOOOO good!! My spots have cleared up nicely and my skin is super smooth. Only downside is i've experienced quite a bit of scaring from constant picking but hopefully that will clear over time. Going to speak to my derm about it on Friday. Can't believe i've been on Accutane for just over 3 months! For new starters would i would say is that beware of reading too many blogs... It is so much easier to sit on here and write about all the negatives when you're feeling rubbish than to come on here at the stage when you're skin is looking great!! The past month has honestly been one of the best months of my llife, confidence wise anyway. I've found that i'm so much more outgoing and genuinely more happy. Sounds so cheesy but its true!

The weather just now has been amazing and i've found that i am SUPER sensitive to the sun. It makes my skin even drier and i'm prone to burning. I have quite an olive complexion so tend to tan very well and not burn... Ohwell, being pale is a small price to pay! As for all the other side effects associated with Accutane (bar dry skin) I haven't experienced any. I think some of the side effects are more mind over matter though. I've also been a bit naughty the past month and have been out drinking (end of exam time so who can blame me). If i had a night out planned i wouldn't take my tablets that day and it seemed to work. I haven't experienced any problems whilst drinking and it doesn't seem to have slowed my progress. Only thing i'm going to do is take the tablets i missed once my treatment has finished, just so i have the correct amount of Accutane in my system.

Wish i'd started this treatment sooner!!!
