Try drinking some strong chamomile tea about thirty minutes before bed. It will really help. Try and practice some deep breathing before bed as well, and maybe you could look into some bedtime yoga. I honestly think that, from your posts, it is not the accutane that is keeping you up but your hyperactivity and anxiety. Stay away from caffeine and sugar and give yourself only two times per day that you are allowed to look in the mirror, and set a time limit. I suggest using a gentle face and body wash that wont dry you out anymore. Try doing a honey mask on your face and shoulders for twenty or thirty minutes before showering, it can help moisturize and will make you feel more proactive in what you are doing for your skin. Use a gentle moisturizer on your face and acne affected areas and a lotion on the rest of your body to keep it well moisturized while the accutane works...I highly suggest for your face that you use MyChelle clear skin balancing cream and for your body something natural as well. Instead of worrying about your acne, try visualizing yourself with clear skin while you wait for the honey mask to work. When you begin to worry about it, repeat a mantra to yourself about the other areas of your life that give you worth (depends on who you are: mine is, "I am a great musician and caring person." Focus your time on something important to you, maybe volunteer. If you have extra energy, ask your derm about what exericises would be safe to do with accutane. You might be able to do some pilates and yoga, and maybe some swimming, so you can sleep better at night.
Oh and also, I looked at your pictures, and your acne is NOT THAT BAD. the way you were describing it, I thought it looked like this [Removed]! It's not that bad. My boyfriend has acne about that bad on his back, and I still love him and am attracted to him...do not worry, other people will not be repulsed by you as you seem to think. I too suffer from body acne as well as face acne, and I understand how depressing and anxiety causing it can be. Believe it or not, people do not think you are disgusting. Have you considered therapy? I find that it's really helped me with my body image.
Ack! Also, when I am struggling with sleep issues, I find that juice fasting or going vegetarian for two to four days will really help my sleep schedule get back on track. However, make sure that if you did that you did not eat many fruits and veggies with lots of vitamin A in them.

thank you for this! I really needed some encouragement/motivation.
I have actually tried another mychelle products (mychelle fruit enzyme mist), and did not really like it. Regarding the mychelle clear skin balancing cream, do you feel your acne heals faster when you apply this cream? Are you on accutane as well?
In regards to the honey, I have tried using a honey mask on my face before, and after a while it irritated it (i was using raw unprocessed wild honey though, not manuka honey) and i kept it on for 30-40 minutes. Maybe I should give this another shot?
I have to try to remain positive, it is the only way to defeat obstacles. Posts like these keep me motivated and positive. Also, any methods I can use to remain positive? Should I take a picture of myself from such a distance where it shows me having clear skin, and look at that photo everytime I am down?

Firstly, yes and no. I find that this moisturizer keeps my skin moisturized without clogging the pores or making my face like an oil slick, and this helps the lesions to heal faster because it really helps reduce irritation. I am not on accutane, but a friend of mine was on it up until about a month ago and I recommended this moisturizer and she liked it, saying that it helped the dryness and irritation without making the issue worse. She said it did burn a little on her sensitive skin (because of the medication) at first, but she said it burned less than the other moisturizers she tried. She said that when it was really irritated she would mix the moisturizer with aloe vera gel and it would help (aloe vera on it's one can be a drying agent but it's also nice and cooling). I'm not a big fan of all the MyChelle products myself, but I love the moisturizer.
try reducing the time and using the right honey. Also, it may be that you were scrubbing so hard to get it off (it is quite sticky). To make it easier to come off, mix it half and half with pure aloe vera gel and make sure to use warm water with slow, deliberate movements to remove it. If that doesn't work well, try another mask that may help clear and cool your skin, like an avocado mask. I find that these smell nice and feel nice and are good for relaxing too.
Try photoshopping the acne out and pinning the picture in your bedroom. Any time you want to go examine in the mirror (except when you're washing your face), look at it instead. I find that this really helps me. And don't forget to focus on other great things that you love about yourself. And the chamomile tea at night--when you make it, you can drink 3/4 of a large cup and then use the rest on your face and shoulders to calm the redness, if you want. Since you're on some pretty darn high powered medicine, try to drink lots of water and eat healthy (though again, not too many veggies with super high vit a counts!) to keep your liver and system healthy while it does it's job on your face.
from my understanding, veggies are okay since body can only convert whatever it needs (beta carotene i believe).
I have been using an aloe vera skin gel for my back.
Do you have any reccomendations on what to use on my body (using the mychelle on the body would be pretty expensive).
Which honey do you reccomend me to use
thanks!
Cool. (like I would know)
Anything moisturizing with dimethicone (to protect your really sensitive skin). I like the plain aveeno kind that has dimenthicone in it.
Try using organic honey that's been processed. So in other words, the bees were fed on pesticide-free plants but the honey has been filtered. Unprocessed honey can have tons of pollen in it, which will not make your skin happy.
no wonder... thanks
On a side note, I think I know why my body acne exploded recently.. I have been eating at this restaurant called mr.kebobs every lunch for 3 weeks. Most of their food is healthy (lamb, chicken breast, hummus, rice which has been soaked). Before I began eating at this place, I specifically asked the chef if they use vegetable oil in ANY of their food. He told me only to fry certain food items (thus I avoided those items). 3 weeks later, after a customer has a pretty bad allergic reaction in the restaurant, I find out that they MARINATE their fucking meat with corn and soy oil. They use HALF a cup for 1 lb of meat. I was eating about 3/4 lb of meat.
I could not believe I was deceived by these business owners (and they treated me like a brother in the restaurant). Needless to say, I will never be going back to that place again. Instead I will just make my own food (was on a strict paleo diet for 3-4 months before, didnt really help, but I will try again).
I am pretty sure its the vegetable oil that causes so much acne for so many people.

Hmm, interesting theory. I do think veggie oil is not that great for many people either. I myself was on plaeo for a while too and nada- lost a lot of weight, it was horrible. Thinking about trying again too as i am on month 5 of tane and just broke in 6 inflamed lumps.....sucks bad.
Good Luck man!
Acne is still the same on body.
I was playing some basketball last night and some guys chin caught my shoulder, and this is the area where i have a lot of acne. Hopefully this doesnt prevent the acne from healing perfectly. I think i will be fine.
Anyone here with body acne play contact sports?
