Well I guess this is my official log. I have been on accutane for about 3 days now and I opted to try the low dose route (i.e. 20mg every 2 days, than 20 mg every other day, than 20 mg every day). I have moderate to pretty bad shoulder acne (with LOTS of discoloration all over my back and shoulders). Pray that this will work for me

Good luck to you! I am planning to start next month and also have body acne. Look forward to hearing about your progress!

I'll be following your progress as well. Do you have oily skin and blackheads in addition to your acne?

Ah man, so I have bad news. I was at my aunts house and she made some banana cakes. I completely forgot she puts flaxseed in these and i ate about 2-3 of them... I pray it does not break me out.

Regarding the accutane, I have not experienced any dryness yet

Also, I have been taking zinc supplement (30mg chelate) and vitamin d3 (2500) as well as the accutane.

My moisturizer of choice atm is GNC aloe vera gel. Any reccomendations for a better moisturizer? Should I try using goldbond on my body?

WOW.. I have spawned some nasty pimples on my shoulders. They are like reddish/blackish in color. I also have one on my face, and it looks really bad. Is it safe to use polysporin whilst on accutane?

On a side note, I have not been getting much sleep these past few weeks.. like 3-4 hours a day..

I've read about people spot treating with polysporin. I tried it, but don't think it did anything so I stopped. But you can try it.

Thanks for the suggestions bmarie.

So I have been thinking a lot about my acne lately (almost nonstop everyday it comes into my mind). No idea how I can stop this.

The pimple on my left cheek looks pretty bad.

Body acne is flaring up like crazy (but it always did prior to tane).

Update. back still looks like a mess. I have about 3-4 pimples on face. I have redness and discoloration which will probably need some sort of treatments down the line.

BTW, I read that taking hyulronic acid supplements helps the skin to heal better? Anyone try it before?

Mentally prepare yourself to breakout constabtly until month 3-4. I am in month 4 and still breaking out (though i don't think thats the norm - most people see better results around that time) and try not to look at your progress on a daily basis as it will drive you nuts.

I find that weekly pictures help and force me to only look at my acne only about once a week

Good Luck

It's a long and frustrating process so....

Don't see why not, just listen to your body & take it easy when necessary.

Here are the photos of my shoulder/body acne. It is really bad, so if you guys do not want to look, I understand.

Also notice how my body has a lot of greasy looking patches. That is all seborrheic dermatitis that I have had prior to accutane. Accutane supposedly gets rid of it... I hope it does

Chin up friend. Your pics were not bad to my eyes. Give accutane time to do its thing and buckle up for the journey. You definitely have lots of support here

Umm, my cheeks and face and body is EXTREMELY dry and flaky. Like Ridiculously flaky, as if someone put chalk on my face that is peeling off. Is this normal?

I am naturally a hyper person (and over-anxious), so today I was walking to my room (running actually) and bumped my shoulder hard on the door. I had some acne in the spot where I bumped it. Hopefully it heals fine.
