Thanks. I've been thinking about fish oil for a while, just haven't gotten any yet. And I haven't watched my diet too closely before now, but with my triglycerides high last time I want to be a little more careful.

My nose when all the black heads were starting to come out...They weren't too bad to begin with though.

More flakiness... crazy.gif

After I finished the antibiotics (taken yesterday). Still very red, but much smoother than a month ago, and my zits are much smaller too. :)

Other cheek. Looking good!

My cheeks are bad also! Mine are starting to get flaky and I get new breakouts... but my skin doesnt get oily anymore. i love it

It's weird because being a teenager, I hear about the T-zone all the time, but my T-zone looks and feels great. It has the perfect amount of oil too. I really haven't dealt with that much dryness, except for the excessive flaking I had for a little bit there.

BMarieWantsNoAcne, i totally agree, my T-zone is the no acne area as well, my acne is more on my cheeks, which is more like the sides of the T. I would say these kids have no idea what they are talking about....

Day 51. Approximately 129 days to go. :)

More blackheads are coming out. This time on my cheeks. I want to pick at them so badly. :( Not much change other than that. This definitely is a slow moving drug.... I'm still worried about my next blood test, so I'm trying to eat less junk food and desserts and eat more fruits... I'm not a big fan of vegetables (was extremely picky as a kid). Any suggestions on learning to like new foods? Especially salads? I wish I liked salad... :(

I also wish doctors knew more about acne and why we have it. If you look on here, everyone's story is different. Some have it their whole teen years, some get it randomly when they become an adult, some get it when they have kids, etc. Furthermore, some have it only on certain parts of their bodies, and some have it all over. Why do we have it? And why can some people get rid of it a certain way but others can't?

Drum roll please!!! Y'all, I have no actives. It's day 53 and I have no actives. I don't have any cysts. I have about two healing tiny pimples and that is seriously it. I'm so happy right now, even though this is probably temporary.

Unfortunately, some of those pores that I thought were starting to clear out actually became whiteheads. It was short lived, but I enjoyed it while it lasted. :)

Hey BMarie,

Sorry to hear that you are still breaking out. :( Hopefully its not as bad as before though. I think that in my case I'm going to keep breaking out in the same spots with smaller and smaller pimples each time until they totally rid themselves of all the infection. That's what mine has been doing so far, at least (I'm on day 45). Are you still on 80mg/day? I'm thinking about asking to up my dosage next time. Did you see any increased breakout when you went up in dosage or more side effects? I think you said before you didn't have any more cysts? I am hoping I get there soon! It seem that the cysts are the worst and most difficult for me to get any progress with... They just linger and linger and linger and, well, you get the picture! In the mean time keep posting and getting better!!

Thanks :)

Yes, I am still on 80 mg a day. I'm still worried about my triglycerides being high, so I started taking fish oil this morning. We will have to see if it helps or not... My derm put me on an antibiotic when she raised my dose, so I didn't really have another IB. The antibiotics help a lot, but I got a yeast infection and diarrhea, so that wasn't cool. It really helped clear up my face though because I'm not getting cysts now. I'm not getting that many whieheads either... have I hit the point where it just starts getting better? A girl can dream, right?

I go in next Monday for my blood work. Unfortunately, I also have an orthodontist appointment that morning, so I have to get my blood drawn, go home, eat, brush my teeth, and immediately leave for my orthodontist. Craziness...

Oh, you also asked about my side effects. Pretty much all of my sore effects are gone now. They didn't get worse when my dosage was raised either. Kinda weird. The only thing I'm dealing with now is slight dryness, and chapped lips. My lips were fine until Saturday when I went four hours without chapstick, and they got sunburned. :( other than that, everything is fine. :)

Sounds like you are doing pretty good so far though.. What antibiotics did they put you on?

It was Amoxicillin for 10 days I think? I don't remember the exact dosage or anything though.

Day 59!! A little while back I had a rash on the back of my hands. No matter how much lotion or aquaphor I used it didn't improve. Well, it randomly went away (Yay!!). It's back now though. No fun at all :( other than that, no side effects.

Quick grammar question, is it side affects or side effects? Lol.

I think I had the same thing about a week ago on the back of my hands. Not like a raised rash, but kind of scaly and red and also going down on my wrist area. It wasn't painful or anything, just very annoying and rough. I used the cetaphil moisturizing cream in the tub on it and it worked wonders. It took care of it completely in about 2-3 days. This cream is too strong for my face, which isn't that dry yet, but it works well on scaly skin. It worked for my husband too, who had an awful rough patch on his neck. Its kind of expensive, but it helped me out a lot.

It's just strange because Aquaphor has always really helped me with things like this.

Day 63. I go in for my dermatologist appointment on Thursday, so it's a good thing I got behind on my pills. Otherwise I wouldn't have any right now. I really think I'm over the worst of things, and have hit the upwards slope. If I get any new pimples, they start healing really quickly. My only side effects are bloody boogers (that are really hard), slightly dry but manageable skin, and a rash on my hands that comes and goes. And we'll see about my triglycerides soon. I went in for my bloodwork yesterday. :)

Glad to hear you're improving! :) I know I've posted this elsewhere, but don't know if I've mentioned it to you before, but I get the same problem with my nose and applying a little vaseline inside it with a q-tip 2 or 3 times a day provides some relief (though it doesn't go away...). Hope the montly derm visit goes well!

I had actually been doing that for a few days, but then my allergies got really bad and I had a constant runny nose. I didn't need it then, but now that my allergies are gone I need to start it again.

Day 64. I'm a senior in high school, and I'm getting my senior portraits done soon. Sadly, I still have braces and have red marks all over my cheeks :( Not the ideal situation, and it's kind of got me down. I want to wear makeup for my portraits, but never wear it so I don't know how to apply it well. :(

OP, your acne, although severe, looks like there's a good chance it will heal without leaving any permanent scars (dents), so continue to be gentle when you have to touch your face and NEVER, EVER poke, squeeze or pop! Red marks will fade also with time.

Get your makeup professionally done at ulta or a makeup counter! Usually they will give you a makeover as long as you buy a certain amount of product, like 50 bucks or so. I had a trial done for my wedding at ulta and they did a great job. Then just go from there to your portrait :) I'm guessing you get them done on your own? Or that its an option?

Thanks, Dave! That makes me happy. :)Ughhh, I'm homeschooled so it's totally on my own. I have a few friends who are photographers, and I'm going to get one of then to take my pictures. Unfortunately, I live in a small town so there's only one option (Bealls) like that. I was actually thinking about seeing if a friend would do my hair and makeup. I'm a very simple girl, and don't really care about hair or makeup, but for this I would like to look nice. :)
