It definitely has been slow on here the past few days! I'm in need of some updates from everyone to see how they're doing, haha.
Rachel, it's awesome that you haven't had a bad breakout and seem to be clearing up. You definitely are lucky that you didn't go through a harsh IB. Lucky duck.
I think it's safe to say that I have NO ACTIVES on my face right now. AHHH. EVERYTHING is healing, including the forehead sucker that surfaced last week. I've been putting Neosporin ointment on it at night and I think that may be helping with the redness. Two more months and hopefully things will improve even more. This is starting to get exciting!
Hey beautiful Betsy! And Rachel! And Kaydon when she's on here haha, I miss you all too! Summer is kind of kicking my butt along with Accutane. I've been getting super tired and the heat is not helping AT ALL. Thankfully I only work two days next week so I can relax. I've been in bed napping and sleeping like 10 hours, and I know it's the Accutane.. what a bitch. I wanna chat with ma girlies!
Hey pretty lady!! Summer is doing it's job if its kicking your butt! That is what it is all about, getting out there and getting the fresh air and having fun! Its natural to wear yourself out! I know that after I spend a day outside I am always really tired afterwards. I think its the fresh air and sun! I am sure the accutane has a hand in the tiredness too! I know that I feel like a lot more energy has been taken out of me!
Is it still really hot there today? We finally got a break in the heat today! In the upper 70's here that I can take!!
I have been sleeping a lot too! Like 10 or 11 hours a night. That is so weird for me! Thankfully I have a daughter that loves to sleep in. Shes like me she will stay up all night and sleep all day! If I let her haha

I agree Katie, things are getting exciting!! Now that I am seeing progress I am really starting to see the potential this medication has! I was really starting to doubt it would work for me
Yea it is pretty frustrating, I'll give you that. You are so lucky that you haven't had a large breakout from starting this. You seem to be one of the lucky few! Not to say you haven't had any new zits since starting but you seem to have avoided the nasty kind Katie and I had the pleasure of having! I'm just relieved to say I really believe it is over for me!
Hopefully the soreness just works its way out of your body. I started having knee pain on my left knee last night. Weird pain like under my knee cap. So I've been icing it the whole day haha, hoping tomorrow it is feeling better.
Is been really slow on our group of logs this week! I wonder what is up with that? Must be busier time at work or something, lily has totally disappeared on here too.
I miss chatting with all you guys!
Yeah, I've definitely been lucky. As long as I can get through this month okay, I think I'll be set. I'm just glad it hasn't been anything major since starting. I'm so glad you and Katie are finally clearing up though. I'm sure you two are thrilled! I can't wait till both of you have flawless skin!
I hope your knee is feeling better!
I've barely been on here this week. I guess I've just had so much going on that I don't check the site as often. I miss chatting with everyone! 🙁

I completely agree. It's so hot here and I'm feeling super tired today. It's 97 here today and it was yesterday too. I hate hot weather. 🙁

I'm definitely relieved I haven't had a bad IB. Just to be on the safe side, I figure if I get through this next month without any major breakouts then I should be fine. I wonder why I didn't get a bad IB though. I know everyone is different... But I wonder if it had anything to do with doxycycline making my skin purge right before I started Accutane.
I'm SO glad thing are clearing up. I'm excited for you!!
My knee was feeling better this morning, now it is all achey again. Hmmm I have no idea what I did to it. Unless it was me climbing in and out of my dads boat on fathers day. That is the only thing I can think of that would have caused this.
That was probably it. I hope it feels better soon though!
Hi Rachel! I'm glad to hear you're doing so well. I'm on 40mg also and just finishing my second month. I had a pretty bad breakout at first but it's been all clearing since the first month/six weeks. I still have some bumps left that don't seem to be budging so I'll be asking my derm about it next week. I think maybe you're right about the doxy probably clearing your skin out and maybe that's why you didn't really breakout too bad. I'm hoping I can just stay at 40mg and it will clear everything up for good. My side effects haven't been too bad on this amount, I'm afraid to go up any higher in my dose. Did your derm put you on 40 because of your weight or what she thought of your acne severity? My usually does everyone at 80mg but I was afraid of that amount for my weight so I talked her into 40mg. What's your derm's policy?

Hopefully those pesky bumps go away soon! Maybe your derm can inject them??
Yeah, I think if things are going well there isn't any reason to bump your dosage up. I think you'll be fine! I wouldn't want to risk more breakouts or side effects from increasing the dosage.
Well, my derm said from the beginning that he wanted me on low dose. I figured this was because my acne was more mild/moderate. At my appointment to actually get my prescription, he asked how much I weigh (105 lbs) and he said 40mg would be a good dosage for my weight.
Day 38
The three spots along my jawline are definitely gone. I also noticed today that those little bumps that were on my left cheek are completely gone.
It's kind of weird... My lips haven't felt that dry these past two days. I'm not sure why. I'm still exfoliating them with the Cure gel and using Aquaphor though.
I slipped and slid down the stairs at my house this evening. They're finished wood, not carpeted, so they can be slick at times. I managed to skin my wrists, but that's it. My mom laughed despite her concerns for my fragile Accutane self. Earlier in the evening she scared me with a fake snake in my bedroom. Thaaaanks, Mom.
Your mom sounds like a character Rachel!
I am thinking the 40mg is good for me too, I'm about 111 lbs. give or take a pound here and there. I hope you're not too sore today from your slip - that sounds painful!
Lol. Yeah... That's what happens when my four-year-old sister gets a fake snake at the store. Everyone tries to scare each other!
I think 40mg is good for your weight. The way I see it is, we're doing well at this dosage, so why tamper with it? Now I just need to convince my derm to let me take it for six months instead of four...
I'm fine! It wasn't a painful slip. It was just funny. The skinned wrists is kind of weird, but I guess that's because Accutane thins your skin. I swear, all these random little cuts that pop up out of nowhere are so weird!
Omg I manage to fall down the stairs a few times a year, last year I sprained my ankle pretty good and the moment it healed I fell down them again! Sprained it all over again! My moms house has that plastic clear covering over them and those puppies get slick! It's usually when I am carrying a laundry basket down to the laundry room and I can't see. OUCH! I can only imagine how slippery wooden steps would be! Hope your not sore from the fall! Poor you!

Good lord, girl! You are accident-prone! Lol.
Betsy you are accident prone but it is good to have supplies in the house! We only have stairs going to a bonus room (a room that's not big enough to be considered an actual second floor, basically just a big room - ours is like a tv/office type room where the kids can go to play video games, watch tv or do homework) and every time I carry the vacuum up I worry about tripping and maiming myself, haha.
Rachel, I'm glad you're okay, I'm sure that skinned wrist is because of the accutane. I was dripping sweat this morning on my run (ick) and I went to wipe it away and barely nicked my forehead with my fingernail and now I have a scratch there. My body is covered in tiny scratches!!

Yeah, I blame the skinned wrists on thin Accutane skin!
The scratches are so annoying, aren't they? I have a few random spots on my arms and I have no idea how any of them even got there!
Day 39
My thigh rashes are almost completely gone now, but a few days ago I developed a rash on my right wrist. I really need to start moisturizing to prevent this. I assume that would help. My skin doesn't feel dry at all so I haven't been moisturizing. The only moisturizer I use is the Neutrogena moisturizer I use in the morning. That's it. Weird that I'm not really dry though...
I also noticed a bump on my chin yesterday. Hopefully I can get rid of it before a zit surfaces because it feels like it would be a mean one.
Funny you mention not being dry or atleast not feeling dry. I don't feel like I am overly dry either. I do moisturize my entire body like every other day though. I didn't start doing that until last month though so I would think that if I was really dry I would have needed that awhile back. I started because after I got out of the shower and I was drying off I noticed my dry skin balling up on my legs. Since time I have started to use a pair of those exfoliating gloves from bath and body works and I've been good. But my face isn't really dry, not like I was expecting it to be. I was reading these logs where people were flaking makeup all day long and needing to reapply mid day because dry skin and makeup looking crappy. I'm not like that at all, is anyone else?

I've been this dry since starting 80mg. It's crazy. I've moisturize in the morning now (I never had to do that before). Last night my makeup was extremely flaky all around my mouth. Haha, so glad I don't have anywhere to be after work! I look like flake-zilla.

I hope the bump on your chin doesn't turn into a zit! I have a mean one getting ready to grow even bigger on my left cheek. But, I'm not that upset since it's the only active I have.
Day 40
I love how after I mention how my skin doesn't seem dry I then wake up with a flaky patch in between my eyebrows. Lol.
The bump on my chin seems go be gone, so that's good news! With makeup on, my skin looks pretty perfect except for the zit on my left cheek that is still on its way out. I wish it would hurry up. It's still a nice little bump.
I'm about to go out with friends for the night, so I'll catch up with you ladies later!

It's pretty weird! You'd think we'd all be dry. I need to moisturize my body though. Maybe I'm stop getting those damn rashes!
The exfoliating gloves sound like a great idea! I have one of those poofy things to use in the shower, but I might have to try out some gloves!
I also read the same thing where people were getting super flaky during the day and had to reapply makeup. I couldn't imagine. I definitely have been like that at all.
My face feels tight when I wash it, but after that it's fine. It is dry for sure, but not where I have to moisturize every night. Huh....
It's crazy, isn't it?!

I'm so glad the bump went away. I don't want a nasty zit on my chin!
How's your cheek??
Day 41
Holy crap. I have been insanely thirsty today. I'm probably shriveling up... Lol. The funny thing is, my best friend is taking medications for her migraines/polycystic ovarian syndrome and something she's taking dries her skin out, too. So, the two of us were thirsty the whole time we were at the mall today.
And a day at the mall seriously wore me out. It hurt my back to sit in my car driving for an hour to get there and another hour back home. I sat down when I got home and did not want to get up.
On the bright side... Like I said yesterday, the bump on my chin is gone. I also noticed those lingering bumps I've had are finally shrinking. They're all almost completely gone. Still no actives. Hopefully it stays that way...
Anyway. Does tomorrow really have to be Monday?
