Rachel's Accutane Log

Wow I missed some fun convo last night! smile.png

Rachel and Betsy - I totally take inventory of my face every morning! I don't even realized I'm doing it sometimes. When I was going through the first breakout I dreaded getting up every morning and looking in the mirror. Right now my biggest issue is the leftover cysts that just won't go all the way away. So stubborn, they're pissing me off! I also get my meds at CVS and so far haven't had a problem. I'm glad to hear they typically have it in stock. I usually get my perscriptions at the local grocery store but I know the pharmacists really well - one of them has kids that went to school with my kids and I didn't want them knowing I was taking accutane (I know, very vain and insecure all at the same time) so I had it filled at CVS instead. They've been efficient so far.

Taylor - A strip club instead of Target? Sheesh!! I'm with Betsy, if they want to see naked ladies they should go home to their wives! I'm not ultra conservative or anything but I really hate strip clubs. You picked a winner of a boyfriend! I am raising my son to be like him - one of the few good guys in the world. Someday his wife better thank me!!

I have a cute Saturday morning story for everybody: My baby boy (15!) is on his way to Universal Studios with his friends for the day. It's the first time we've let him go by himself with his friends, he's been with his sister but she's like a second mom- we bought him an annual pass for his birthday and he's so excited. In his group of friends not everyone has a pass so it turned out to be two of the girls and him today - how super duper cute is that?? My husband is driving them down and one of the girls' parents is picking up. I am anxiously awaiting his text to tell me they got into the park okay. smile.png

I am getting to the point that I get excited to check my face in the morning because there is less and less going on with it. My first 3 months on this stuff really was a nightmare with the breakouts. I was doing good side effect wise but I just kept breaking out and breaking out! I remember a time where I could look in the mirror and take count of zits and then 2 hours later there were more! It was sad, seriously it was a huge let down. I remember at one point I counts over 20 zits on my face at one time. I have never had that much going on, on my face at one time. I was seriously starting to consider that my doctor gave me a placebo or something! Like whhyyy aren't you working for me accutane!! Towards the end of month 3 though things started to look better and have just been getting better since then! YIPPIE! eusa_dance.gif

I am not ultra conservative either, really I'm not at all. I have tattoo's and I drink and swear all that jazz. Something about strip clubs rub me the wrong way though. So dirty, and I just feel terrible that the girls that work there are taking off their clothes for money, like there is nothing else they can do to take care of themselves of their families? I suppose it's not like they are forced into the job and they go in there and apply on their own, so whatever. Do what you want. I could just never do that, I have more respect for myself and I just don't let anyone see my goods lol. Anyways...

Universal studios is awesome! I went there with my dad when I was 17 and they have some cool rides and shows and stuff there! So 2 ladies and your son? Lucky boy 🙂 That is super cute!

Ditto! Walmart is just full of crazies. The Walmart here isn't as bad as what's on the People of Walmart website, but the people are still a mess. Plus, going to Walmart here is basically a high school reunion. You're guaranteed to run into someone you know. That's why I go to Rite Aid. Always. I don't care that it's a little more expensive. It's so much easier than Walmart for me. Rite Aid is never busy here. It did get robbed twice while I was there though! Lol. Pretty crazy. Nothing happened though.

I would loooooove to have a Target here. Unfortunately, I have to drive like 45 minutes to go to a Target. sad.png

I moved after high school about 40 minutes away from where I grew up. The target by my house was always a high school reunion and I didn't like that. So I am glad I don't run into many people from school, unless it is on purpose, usually. I started avoiding Target like the plauge though haha. I couldn't never go there without being dressed nice and having make up on and all that jazz because I knew I would run into people and have to catch up. There was no such thing as running to the store quick to pick up something.

So wait a minute.... You got robbed twice? At the same place? And you still go there?

Did you read all the books? My husband and kids read them all and saw all the movies. You'd love Harry Potter world at Universal, it's really cool and you can tast butter beer!

Yep! I've read all the books. I've been a big Harry Potter nerd ever since I was little. smile.png I can't wait to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter one day!

I don't drink, but I definitely have a potty mouth. I won't cuss around family, but it's a lot of F bombs around my friends! eusa_angel.gif

I love tattoos. Honestly, that's one thing that's killing me about Accutane right now. I was planning to get another tattoo and now it has to wait so long! I read you have to wait six month after finishing Accutane to get a tattoo?! I'll have to ask my derm. I guarantee he'll think I'm nuts. I don't get the impression that he's a fan of tattoos...

Exactly why I avoid Walmart! I still live in my hometown and most people I went to high school with either never left or they came back.

Lmao! I didn't get robbed! Rite Aid did. One time I was there with my best friend and we're wandering the store... At one point we were checking out the magazines by the entrance when we heard someone yell, "Call 911!" We thought someone was hurt. Then this guy ran buy us and out the door. The alarms started going off. I think someone chased after him. He tried to steal a trash bag full of stuff. He ended up dropping the bag outside and took off into the woods across the street.

The second time it happened, I was there with my mom. My mom waited in the car though. I was standing in an aisle and all of a sudden the cashier (a girl around my age) yelled, "HEY. YOU CAN'T STEAL." And I look and there was a guy with a basket full of stuff and he ran out of the store. My mom saw him leave the store and jump into a car and they drove off. She had no idea what was going on! Lol.

Kinda weird because I live in an area where things like that don't happen frequently.

I don't drink a ton or anything, I do go out and have some drinks with friends and stuff, and I've been known to woop it up from time to time. Since becoming a mother though I really don't do that very often, maybe once or twice a year. She is with me 90% of the time so I am usually sitting around watching a disney flick with her for the 30th time lol.

I have 3 tattoos! I like them too! I didn't have any plans of getting another one done anytime soon. Since finding out I couldn't though I have the itch. Funny how once you hear you can't do something all of a sudden you want too. I suppose thats the little kid left in me or something haha. I did hear 6 months to a year to be safe. I read something where a guy got one like 7 months after accutane and all the ink bled and the tattoo is ruined. So I would wait a year just to be safe. Which sucks.

OOOOOO I thought you personally were robbed. I was like girl you have to avoid that riteaid! That is still crazy though, I have never been in anywhere that has been robbed, well robbed when I was there anyways. There was a bar I used to go that has a pull tab booth there and it was robbed 2 times and some guy was held at gun point while standing outside smoking.. I used to smoke ( I quit about 4 years ago now) and I would always bring a group of people outside with me so nothing happened to me standing out there alone. I always figure there is safety in numbers 🙂 At least the people at your riteaid seem to be stealing stuff rather than money.

That's good! Nothing wrong with having a drink from time to time, but quality time with your daughter is way more important.

I only have one tattoo, but I've always planned to get more. I just change my mind on everything I decide to get. I wanted to get a tattoo before the summer started, but Accutane put a hold on that. It sucks having to wait though! I guess that's more time to think about things and make sure you really want it! Lol!

That's scary! I'd make sure I had people with me too! I think this Rite Aid got robbed a number of times. I think it's just because it's not really busy and there's never many employees working. Guess it makes it an easier target. So crazy though!

No tatoos for me - bet you guys are shocked, right? :) I don't mind them on other people but it's not for me. I do like my wine and such but Betsy is right, once you become a mom it's all about the kids and setting a good example, blah, blah, blah. I've watched those Disney flicks a thousand times too! :) It's so much fun when they're older and they can watch big people movies, not that I don't love a good Disney flick. Little Mermaid was my favorite but I haven't seen Tangled or now there is a new one out, Brave, it looks cute and I love the Toy Story movies.

Rachel that is wild that you witnessed two robberies at the same store. I would have been scared to death but like you said at least it was more like shop lifting than holding up the cashier. Crazy!

Day 33

The two little bumps along my jawline are going away. I have a few dry patches on my face, including where the little bumps are on my left cheek.

And that's about it. Another exciting day on Accutane.

Day 34

No changes in my skin. I'm still feeling a bit achy though. I'm just glad it's not bothersome. Hoping it'll pass soon. Besides supplements, does anyone have any suggestions on what would help? Light exercise?

Hope you all had a nice Father's Day!

I'm achy too Rachel and I hate it! I usually exercise 4-5 days a week either running or strength training but I've been so sore. I gave up running for a few weeks but didn't notice any difference and last week I skipped everything. It helped a little but not exercising is making me cranky, haha! I'm going to go back at it this week and see what happens. I'm also thinking maybe stretching everyday would help. Glad to hear your skin is doing so well! :)

I am wondering if some light exercise might help the aches. I am going to start going on walks every night and see if that helps loosen things up a bit.

Day 35

Two nights ago I had one of those dreaded dreams about getting a bunch of new breakouts. This morning when I woke up I had a little whitehead on my nose, but it's already almost gone.

Last night I dreamt it was Friday. Imagine my disappointment when I woke up...

Now that the rash on my left thigh is pretty much gone, I have a new one on my right thigh. This is ridiculous. rolleyes.gif

Poor you! I thought it was Saturday today for awhile too hahaha.. Accutane always has to be causing some sort of problem doesn't it! Hopefully you get that rash to clear up quickly..

Its a slow day on here isn't it?

Not much has been going on in the logs the past 2 days actually. I've had 3 notifactions all day. That is really odd it's usually like 50 - 70

Day 36

I. Am. Exhausted. I ended up going to Kings Dominion in Virginia today. I haven't been there in a few years. Walking around in the sun all day was certainly tiring. The miracle? I barely got any sunburn. It's insane to me. I had my Neutrogena Healthy Defense Daily Moisturizer SPF 50 Purescreen on my face, which I love. And I put the Neutrogena baby sunblock on my arms. No sunburn on my arms, though my shoulders are a teeny bit pink. So is my forehead along my hairline. My back, however, did not get any sunblock. I know, I know. I did get sunburn there, but it's not bad at all. I'm surprised.

Anywho. There's nothing going on with my face. I didn't realize it until the other day when I washed my face, but my skin feels SO smooth. I'm amazed. I still have a few of those teeny tiny bumps on my left cheek. And I do have have five very small and unnoticeable bumps from old zits. It'll be nice when they finally go away!

Awesome! My skin is finally starting to get smoother too, but like you read on my board, I am scared about those large pores haha.

Sunburn...yuck. I am using the Neutrogena SPF 100 spray and I don't know if I like it.

I am very tired too....slept 14 hours last night. Crazy I know! Get some rest and keep us updated :)

Don't you just love the feeling of smooth skin? It feels great! 😀 I hope your pore shrink soon though! I don't think they'll stay big for long.

I haven't tried that spray or any sprays for that matter. But they just seem so much easy than slathering on sunblock!

Day 37

When I woke up this morning I noticed three small, red bumps along my jawline on the right side of my face. I put salicylic acid on them and by lunchtime they were smaller. The bumps are still there, but they are tiny and barely detectable.

Other than that there's nothing new to report.

Yeah, I'm glad they seem to be going away. I don't think I could deal with any zits after I've been pretty clear this whole time. That would be frustrating...

I don't feel sore when I walk right now. Now I usually feel sore when I get up after I've been sitting kind of curled up for a while.

Yea it is pretty frustrating, I'll give you that. You are so lucky that you haven't had a large breakout from starting this. You seem to be one of the lucky few! Not to say you haven't had any new zits since starting but you seem to have avoided the nasty kind Katie and I had the pleasure of having! I'm just relieved to say I really believe it is over for me!

Hopefully the soreness just works its way out of your body. I started having knee pain on my left knee last night. Weird pain like under my knee cap. So I've been icing it the whole day haha, hoping tomorrow it is feeling better.

Is been really slow on our group of logs this week! I wonder what is up with that? Must be busier time at work or something, lily has totally disappeared on here too. 🙁 I miss chatting with all you guys!

Hey beautiful Betsy! And Rachel! And Kaydon when she's on here haha, I miss you all too! Summer is kind of kicking my butt along with Accutane. I've been getting super tired and the heat is not helping AT ALL. Thankfully I only work two days next week so I can relax. I've been in bed napping and sleeping like 10 hours, and I know it's the Accutane.. what a bitch. I wanna chat with ma girlies!
