Oh no, Stacey! That sounds like a difficult dilemma with the peeling and tenderness. sad.png

Have you thought about seeing what your dermatologist says about upping the dose, and then following their recommendations to keep as is or up it? Sometimes when I'm not sure and scared about these things, I pretty much just put my faith in the professional. She/he should know what they are doing. You might have more side effects, but you could have more clearing, and who knows if those increased side effects become more manageable after a month? For example, when my dose was increased from 40 to 60, I got some painful rashes, drier skin, and more fatigue, but then the rashes went away and the dry skin got better, almost as if my body adapted. It's just something to think about if you're super unsure of what to do...

HOMEMADE GINGERBREAD YUMMM!!!!!!!!!!

We're going out for organic grass-fed bacon burgers on gluten-free buns because we're so run down and tired. Yay for comfort food!

When I started my course (on 40mg) I had the same issue with quick onset of eczema rashes as well as headaches. But my body seemed to adapt and the rashes went away and now side effects feel fairly minimal at Day 21. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw some more changes when I increase to 60mg, but I think my body will again adapt in time.

Gina, I had some awesome local grass fed meatloaf and eye round roast last night along with a ton of local vegies and fruits. My work put on an all local meal for our Board of Supervisors as reminder about the importance of agriculture in the community. The food was delish!

Hi Katie and everybody! I feel like we're all in some weird transition right now even though we're on different days. Maybe this accutane ebbs and flows depending on the levels in your system. I'm on day 87 and up until last week I thought everything was going in a positive direction. I've been battling these old underskin bumps (old cysts turned to nodules??) hoping each day they would get smaller. There is a cluster of about four to the left of my chin almost on my jawline. Well at the end of last week one of them decided to become inflamed (what????) and even though it's separate bumps the swelling just made it look like one big angry cyst but it doesn't feel like a cyst, more like a nodule. And the area is becoming really dry. I'm trying not to peel it so I don't make it bleed but when I wash my face the dry skin comes off and the new skin is so red and tender. Arrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!! And I have some crazy old bump on the right side of my chin that's really small and has been there forever but won't go away and the skin above it keeps peeling making a nice red raw type mark. What the heck accutane, I thought you were supposed to make things better!!!!!! Tomorrow is my derm appointment and I'm both worried she'll up my dose and that she won't up my dose. I don't want to up my dose because I don't want to breakout and have my side effects get worse and I do want to up my dose to move things along a little quicker.

Katie I'm so sorry about the toe situation! It's bad enough dealing with all the accutane shit and then when you have some other sort of health issue it just makes it all worse. I pulled a muscle in my hip and normally I would just be concentrating on icing it and stretching it to get it better but I'm so preoccupied with my skin that I just blow off trying to heal my muscle because mentally I just can't deal with it. I hope the toes heal up quickly for you so you don't have to worry about them anymore. Definitely take time off work if you need to - everyone deserves time to take care of themselves!! I'm going to make homemade gingerbread tonight and have a piece with whipped cream while I watch So You Think You Can Dance (most awesome show ever) as my stress relief tonight so you should do something nice for yourself too!!! smile.png I'm telling you the kids on this show can DANCE!!

Hey Stacey! Wow, I™m sorry to hear about the stress that your skin has been causing you. You™re at the end of month three, so hopefully the next few months are where the real healing begins. Month three is such a tricky month. It™s definitely not the miracle month, I don™t think. The IB that I got from my dosage increase wasn™t too bad “ but it was annoying. It™s annoying to have setbacks though. I have the dry flakey marks that keep peeling, no matter how much I moisturize. Very annoying.

The toes have been a real inconvenience. I™m hoping that they can finally heal. I™m glad I took the day off yesterday, it was definitely a day where I couldn™t have handled being anywhere else. Hopefully your hip starts to feel better. My mom has been nice to me the past few days since it has been annoying to get up and walk at night, my toe starts throbbing with pain. She made me snacks for the past two nights. 🙂 It™s always good to have a nice form of stress relief!

Hi Katie, my name is Lisa and i've been following your log and all the other girls logs for couple of months now. Yours is actually the first one i saw, and I've been hooked ever since! Back then I was deciding if I wanted to do accutane or not and after reading everyones logs, it really made my decision easier..i start August 9th , I can't wait! So i see you were prescribed cephalexen..that is actually the antibiotic I am taking for my acne now...and although it didnt stop my cysts coming, it truly has helped with the smaller stuff...it has been my favorite antibiotic i have used.. i dont see it much on acne org, but when i started it i went to reviews and it gets great reviews.. so maybe it will help for the stubborn lil buggers you have...Hope you feel better, and ty for the inspiration you've given!

Hey Lisa! It makes me so happy to hear that I can help people make the decision to take Accutane. I know it™s not an easy decision, with the bad rep that it has. You™re definitely making the right decision if nothing else has worked for you. Are you going to be making a log? This forum has helped me so much, and it™s nice to have others that are going through the same thing as you. It™s great to have support while on this medication. Antibiotics never did anything for my acne. I™ve probably been on every one of them! The last one that I did before Accutane was Solodyn, which did keep my acne at bay but as soon as I went off it my face erupted with acne. 🙁

I™m on Cephalexin for my toe infection. Maybe it will help the few little zits that keep appearing out of nowhere! Have you had any stomach problems while taking Cephalexin? My doc told me to take it with a meal, or milk.

Thanks so much! I™m happy I could help!! 😀

Day 121

Have I really been on this medication for 121 days? Damn.

Chin zit has decreased in size a little bit, but is still there. Under the skin bumps from last week seems like a few area surfacing. There is one on the right side under my lip. I really hope that this thing doesnt turn out to be as big as the one on my chin. That would be horrible. Theres also one on the right side of my face near my nose. This one is very small.

Its so weird how things were going so well, and now Im experiencing this weird flare-up. Its upsetting because Im only supposed to have four weeks left on Accutane. I dont see my derm until the middle of August. I really hope that she allows me to do another month...

Everytime I do a update on here I think oh my god this is flying by. It is pretty crazy because the first month on this medication sure dragged on and on. Any who

These damn zits really need to stop popping up out of nowhere. I feel the same way as you like when everything is calm and looking good, things start to play up again. With no damn reason either. Although I think that it may have been all the sunscreen I was using on my face because I was out in the sun a lot. I don't think that my face and all the chemical SPF agree with each other. Which is a bummer because I have to use it anyways because I don't want sunburn and blisters on my face on top of everything else happening with my body! Im already uncomfortable as is. I wonder if your new bumps are from sunscreen while on your vacation?

Hang in there and be positive. You will be able to do a 6th month of medication hopefully and really knock this all out of your body!

It really flies by once you get past day 90. Craziness.

It bums me out, because last week I have one active. Now it looks like I may have three or more. Im not sure if they developed because I didnt wash my face as much while on vacation, or what. I did actually go without makeup more than once while I was on vacation, so that cant be why. Its a mystery. This drug does crazy things. Im praying for no more nasty buggers. Thats all I ask! Come on, tane!!! Hmm the sunscreen may have played a part in the breakout now that I think about it, though

I will be way over my cumulative dose if I do 6 months, but Im willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of this acne! Hopefully we both actually get to that point.

I'll be over my dose if I do 6 months too. I am going to do it no matter what though. Even if tomorrow morning I woke up and by the grace of god had amazing looking skin I would still do the 6th month just to let acne know I'm not messing around and to stay the hell away from me lol.

Good for you being able to go without makeup a couple of times while on vacation! That is awesome. In the beginning of the course you wouldn't have done that at all! So just think how far you've come :)

Hi Girls! I keep hearing you guys say you think time is flying by but sometimes I feel like it's just dragging by. When I look at number of days (88 for me) it seems like a lot but when I think I won't be finished til October is seems like forever.

End of Month Three Derm Appointment Update: Last month I went in feeling really positive but this month not so much. The three or four underskin bumps I have that aren't going away are really bumming me out and one of them flared up like it was new. Soooooo, my derm has convinced me to double my dose (ack!!). That will only be 80mg but it's freaking me out. It's so weird how all the derms prescribe this medicine differently - makes me wonder a little. My derm puts everyone on 80mg for 6 months no matter what they weigh or what their acne's like. I whined about it being too much so she compromised with me and put me on 40mg to start. She really feels 80mg will do the trick for me - she said in her experience 80 seems to be the best amount. Although I don't have many bumps left she says that my acne is ultra stubborn and I really need to blast it. Sighhhhhhhhhh. I'm gonna go for it though, I didn't start this just to do it half ass so 80mg here I come! I am terrified the side effects will be twice as bad but she said that probably won't be the case since my body is used to the medicine. My cholesterol is still high but not too high in her opinion and luckily my blood sugar went back to normal and everything else is good.

Katie, your mom sounds like a great mom taking care of you. 🙂 My warm gingerbread and So You Think You Can Dance last night made me feel better too. 🙂 I know you're on 80mg and your side effects seem to be the same as mine and you feel they've been pretty manageable right? Thanks for letting me vent - it's good to get the freak out feelings out of my head. 🙂 Maybe your derm will let you go a little longer, do you think?

Betsy, I usually use the physical (mineral) sunscreens on my face and have no problems. I recently tried La Roche Posey and it was nice but expensive. I think some of the Neutrogena is zinc oxide/titanium dioxide and I've used that too in the past and not had problems. Have you ever tried those?

I can't use chemical sunscreens anymore! My skin would tolerate them pretty well before accutane, but they react badly now on the accutane by causing redness and sometimes clogged pores. Now that I've consistently been using zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, I haven't had breakouts. You could always do a trial with mineral sunscreens?

121 is an awesome achievement in itself! Congrats! I have a good feeling that you're going to see improvement in the next few weeks and that your derm will keep you on for an additional month to know that sh*t out! 🙂

80mg here you come! 🙂 You're going to rock it! You may have some initial side effects but I bet they will calm down when your body adjusts. That's how my course on 40mg started and I bet it will be similar when I bump to 60...but I think with a little time, my body will adapt like it has this month.

hi katie..no, no stomach problems with cephalexen...thats why i love it! i was on doxy b4 ceph, and jeez wld upset my stomach sometimes even with food, and besides that doxy didnt do a thing for me lol...also you dont have to worry about the sun using ceph..i hope your flare up clears up fast! my skin has actually been pretty good, havent had a cyst in 3 weeks which is a small miracle for me lol...but i do have an underskin bump on right cheek which has been with me for quite awhile..you cant see it but i surely can feel it, and its annoying..i just wish it wld make up its mind bc i hate worrying abt it surfacing...2 weeks till tane start..i cant wait!!

I was on Doxycline before (almost 10 years ago!) and it always upset me stomach as well. I'm glad Cephalexin hasn't given you any problems. That's always a good thing, especially if it has helped you! I really hate bumps that stay under the skin forever. I have the same thing going on with this bump under my lip. It's definitely grown and when the skin is stretched you can tell it's getting ready to come to the surface. Very annoying!

Woohoo, 2 weeks! I remember when I was at that point in the waiting game to go on tane! It is exciting. 🙂

Katie, your mom sounds like a great mom taking care of you. smile.png My warm gingerbread and So You Think You Can Dance last night made me feel better too. smile.png I know you're on 80mg and your side effects seem to be the same as mine and you feel they've been pretty manageable right? Thanks for letting me vent - it's good to get the freak out feelings out of my head. smile.png Maybe your derm will let you go a little longer, do you think?

Betsy, I usually use the physical (mineral) sunscreens on my face and have no problems. I recently tried La Roche Posey and it was nice but expensive. I think some of the Neutrogena is zinc oxide/titanium dioxide and I've used that too in the past and not had problems. Have you ever tried those?

Hey Stacey! If I do another month, I won™t finish until the end of September! It does seem like a long time. But it will come before we know it!

I think that increasing your dosage to 80mg is a smart decision! Don™t be nervous “ 80mg isn™t too scary! At least I don™t think so. Just carry Aquaphor or whatever you are using with you at all times, and moisturize twice a day. I hate these stubborn under the skin bumps¦I have no idea where mine came from, but I want them to come out and friggin™ go away already.

My mom is awesome! I™m lucky to have a mom like her. I™m glad that your warm Gingerbread and So You Think You Can Dance helped you relax. I definitely feel like the side effects are manageable, they™re just annoying. Lately it™s the sides of my mouth¦they™re flaky, no matter what I do. Ick! I think my derm wants me to do another month. She told me that you can only do three rounds of Accutane in your life. I don™t know if my first 3 month course counts¦but I don™t want to ever have to do this again. She seemed like she wanted to allow me to go for an additional month, and told me we™d discuss it at my next appointment. It™s just scary to have new zits when you™re at the end of your course. I don™t like that at all. I™m most definitely aiming for another month.

121 is an awesome achievement in itself! Congrats! I have a good feeling that you're going to see improvement in the next few weeks and that your derm will keep you on for an additional month to know that sh*t out! smile.png

You're right! That's a lot of days! I'm so happy I got this far. Thanks, I really hope that all I need is another month to completely get rid of this damn acne! I'm so ready to be done with this! 😛

Oh wow, that sounds DELISH!!!! I'm making a yummy salad tonight with local red lettuce, blackberries, garbanzo beans, and other veggies. I love salads using local produce grown in the summer. wub.png

So just think how far you've come smile.png

Day 121

Have I really been on this medication for 121 days? Damn.

Chin zit has decreased in size a little bit, but is still there. Under the skin bumps from last week “ seems like a few area surfacing. There is one on the right side under my lip. I really hope that this thing doesn™t turn out to be as big as the one on my chin. That would be horrible. There™s also one on the right side of my face near my nose. This one is very small.

It™s so weird how things were going so well, and now I™m experiencing this weird flare-up. It™s upsetting because I™m only supposed to have four weeks left on Accutane. I don™t see my derm until the middle of August.

I™m not sure if they developed because I didn™t wash my face as much while on vacation, or what. I did actually go without makeup more than once while I was on vacation, so that can™t be why. It™s a mystery. This drug does crazy things. I™m praying for no more nasty buggers. That™s all I ask! Come on, ˜tane!!! Hmm the sunscreen may have played a part in the breakout now that I think about it, though¦

I will be way over my cumulative dose if I do 6 months, but I™m willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of this acne! Hopefully we both actually get to that point.

Wow, double down, girl!!! You're going to be fine. Just keep taking good care of yourself, and maybe this is just what the doctor ordered to BLAST those suckers away! lol

Thanks Gina! I was okay with it last night but of course today I'm freaking out. I am so not a risk taker- more of a dip your toe in the water do a lot of observing and researching and then maybe go in half way kind of girl, haha. But every time I start freaking out I'm going to try and stop myself and remind myself that my derm knows what she's talking about and I can always go back to 40 if I think it's too much. I'd hate to do all this and then not have it last. ACNE BE GONE FOR ALL OF US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

80mg here you come! smile.png You're going to rock it! You may have some initial side effects but I bet they will calm down when your body adjusts. That's how my course on 40mg started and I bet it will be similar when I bump to 60...but I think with a little time, my body will adapt like it has this month.

Thanks Body and Soul! I was thinking the same thing about the adjustment. My course started like that too and at first I felt a little panicky but it all settled down and became manageable so I'm expecting the same thing to happen. I'm big on eating right and exercising but I haven't always been good at taking care of myself in a "body and soul" kind of way since I became a mom almost 20 years ago but if this medicine is doing anything it is teaching me that I really need to take the time to do that. My kids are older now and they won't fall apart if I don't tend to their every need, haha. And I won't get out of shape if I skip a workout or two because the medicine is making me sore. It's hard to admit sometimes that you're the one who needs taking care of when you've been the one taking care of everyone else. Feels like a weakness when in reality it's what you should be doing for yourself. All you girls on here have definitely taught me that it's not selfish but mportant in order to make it through this medicine and come out on the other side free of acne.

For some reason my last post entered really weird and now it's hard to follow - sorry about that girls! I know I did it right.

Katie, thanks for the support - I'm thinking it will be fine and I just need to settle down and breathe. My orginal side effects did the same thing as yours - came on strong and then settled down and so did Body and Soul's so I'm thinking your body just needs to adjust to the medicine. I'd hate to do this half ass and then not get the results I want. That's what my derm said too, she's so sweet. She reminded me how awful this has been for me and that I deserve to have clear skin and she wants me to do everything I can to have that. She's very supportive. I told her I was worried about the cracking lips and she prescribed me some kind of ointment for the sides just in case they start to crackm - I don't know what it is yet, I'll pick it up today. I think it's scary to keep getting new zits too, it makes you feel like maybe it's not going to work for you but I read somewhere that accutane really does help the great majority of cases no matter what type it is so I know it will work for you too!!

I do need to try the mineral sunscreens on my face, I just don't want to spend 60 bucks on it. I have a hard time finding anything that doesn't break the bank. I spend so much money already on products and new makeups and yada yada I just have a hard time spending 40 bucks on 1 oz of sunscreen. I will take a look at the Neutrogena though that seems to run at about 10 - 12 bucks

Congratulations on getting bumped up to 80 MG I know it is scary but you will handle it just fine. If you feel like it is too much you can always move back down to 40 or you could try 60. I did breakout again when I moved from 40 to 60, it was a pain in the butt. But it was at month 3 when I did that and I was still getting a decent amount of new acne at the 40 MG and I think the 60 just purged the rest of it. I think because you are further in than I was when I got a dosage increase that your skin has probably done all the purging it needed to do.

Dryness did increase too, nothing changed with my joints of back aches though. Everything I was doing before on the 40 MG was still enough on the 60MG. As long as I put lip ointments and stuff and moisturize 2 times a day I am good! You will do great with the 80 and finally be able to say goodbye to those under the skin bumps!

Hey guys.. my skin is doing good! I think that birth control was breaking me out, cause I haven't broken out in 6 days since I stopped

:) I still have scabs and healing, but of course I'll probably have those for a bit because this healing process is like a turtle.

Bad news though.. Miss Positive Taylor is sick, sick, sick. I got it from my mommy

:( Waaaaaa, and of course right when I have to work 5 days in a row now. I feel so tired, and I've been coughing non-stop. It sucks even more because of the Accuane plus my ashtma,

I've been in bed all day preparing for work tonight so hopefully tonight goes fast.

I bought two new candles that smell AMAZING and one of them is wood wick, ever hear of that? well I decided after work I'm going to light a million candles, play some Ron Pope, and take a 30 minute bath and just loosen my muscles. I feel bad cause yesterday I had this cough and I kissed my boyfriend a few times, and whenever I'm sick, he gets sick, and he works way more than me so I hope he doesn't catch this.

I will do a big update tomorrow when I get off work and have time to relax. I haven't been sick in 2 years so it's crazy that I got sick, maybe a weaker immune system from Accutane? Hmm..

Anywho, I hope you all have a wonderful day, I'm trying!

lol wtf is that thing? a bucktoothed LLAMA?

tay-tay, don't get sick! i got sick after i graduated from grad school and i think the accutane made it worse, too.

just rest up and drink tons of fluids, orange juice, etc. it might take a few days, but i hope it's quickly out of your system.

Day 122

This zit under the right side of my lip is surfacing. It's really taking it's time. I don't even know wtf kinda zit this is. If I put my tongue against it inside of my gums I feel throbbing. The chin zit is finally healing and going away. It's crusty right now because my makeup is flaking from being on all day at work. So sexy.

Total of 2 actives: The jawline zit that will never leave, and the new active that is taking it's time surfacing. I hope it doesn't grow into something as large as the one on my chin. That's just what I need, a lovely zit that will make me look like I have herpes underneath my lip. No, no thank you. Gtfo of here! angry.png

Anyway, I will catch up with you guys a little later. I'm going to go pig out now on some yummy cheese fries. teehee.gif

Hey Taylor! Yay for good skin! That stinks you're sick and have to work. :(

I definitely think Accutane makes your immune system weaker. Hope you feel better soon!!

Taking a bath and lighting a ton of candles sounds AMAZING right now! I've never heard of wood wick. I need to get some new candles.

HAHAHAH that llama. The pictures that you find are hilarious. :D

So I figured it's been a while since I posted a picture. Sadly, the last time I posted a picture I feel like my face looked better than it does now. :(

IMG_20120727_205300.jpg?t=1343438838

The good news? A lot of the red marks have faded. Now if only I would stop having random breakouts. *sigh* My only hope might be these next four weeks if another month isn't possible.

Katie!!!

Overall your face looks so clear! I think it looks better this time compared to last. That lip zit needs to gtfo, I agree cause I HATE them. They are evil fake herpes monsters. bs.gif

Are you putting neosporin on it? Sometimes I wonder if all the aquaphor around my lips is going to break me out around my mouth, but it hasn't yet. I would just try to keep it clean and not put makeup over it, unfortunately.

Maybe it will clear up in the next 4 weeks and you won't have to do another month. :)

Thanks Betsy! I have two 20mg pills left so today and tomorrow I am doing 60mg (40 in the am 20 in the pm) in hopes of easing myself into it a little. On Monday it will be the full 80. I'm telling you taking that 40mg pill this morning was almost like starting over. I had to pep talk myself and everything before swallowing it, hahahaha! And of course this morning I thought my face looked really good and convinced myself the bumps were smaller but I shook myself out of that and went into positive thinking mode and before I took that pill I said out loud to myself "Ok acne you think you're winning but you're not - I'm bringing in the big guns so pack your bags!" Crazy right?? 🙂 I don't know what I'd do without all you guys and your support. Normally I would vent to my husband but he just got a new job which is a really great opportunity for him and he's super excited but it means he'll be commuting to Chicago for weeks at a time for a few months. I'm trying to not burden him with small things because I know he's stressed about leaving us. But the company he was with before was wearing him down and it's so nice to see him re-energized about his work life - it's a big burden to be responsible for all the expenses of a family of four with one in braces and one in college so it's much better when he's enjoying himself.

I know what you mean about those sunscreens being so expensive! Products in general are so expensive too!! And all the products we've had to try to get rid of acne have cost me a fortune I'm sure, most of it wasted money!! The La Roche Posey I bought to try was like $40!! Good luck with the Neutrogena if you decide to try it.

Thanks, Gina! I'm so damn hard on myself. tongue.png I guess I'm just aiming for perfection after all these months of being on Accutane. That, and the fact that I'm getting zits at what is supposed to be the end of my course makes me really nervous about what will happen after I'm done. I'm trying to stay positive.

Lip zits do really suck. I put Neosporin on it once this week, but I haven't since. That's funny that you mention breaking out from Aquaphor, because I was just thinking last night "What if this is a clogged pore from Aquaphor?" That's definitely a possibility. This thing started out as a little white under the skin bump that I knew was going to turn into a zit. There's another one on the left side of my lip, which is still under the skin. I don't get it.

Maybe the next 4 weeks will do me good! I'm really keeping my fingers crossed now! smile.png

I don't think it is crazy talking yourself into it Stacey. I understand it is a scary thing. Like what is going to happen now? Am I going to get another IB? Are my side effects going to change? It is a lot of stuff to think about. You will handle it good though!

Great news about your husband getting a new job! It sounds like over all it will be better in the long run! Once you get through all the traveling. It sounds like he traveled a lot with his other job though too. Sounds like it is a good move on his part though if it makes him happier!

$40 bucks for a SPF is insane. I don't know how the hell these companies get away with charging so much money for these products. I understand all the research and testing that goes into them but come on. 40 dollars?

So I figured it's been a while since I posted a picture. Sadly, the last time I posted a picture I feel like my face looked better than it does now. sad.png

The good news? A lot of the red marks have faded. Now if only I would stop having random breakouts. *sigh* My only hope might be these next four weeks if another month isn't possible.

You are looking good Katie!! I think you will have great results! Lip zits are nasty little buggers aren't they. No one likes walking around looking like they have a cold sore. Plus lip zits always hurt!

OKAY! Time for Taylor to do an actual update, eh?

So, I believe today is 102! WOOOOOO! I didn't even realize that. I'm two weeks into my fourth month, woooww. I have 10 weeks left too I just realized, wowza.

Forehead - clear and has been clear for a long time

:)

Left cheek - CLEAR, with 4 tiny scabs healing up

Right cheek - CLEAR, with one big scab that is taking FOREVER

The areas around my mouth, chin, and jawline are clear, with about.. 5 scabs healing!

I'm very happy right now

:) I just can't wait for the scabs to flake off or go away or whatever they plan on doing. All I know is my skin has become crazy dry and flaking, which is kind of cool..

I definitely think I set my skin backwards with the birth control, but now that I know, it's time for my skin to heal away for 10 weeks! I haven't had a new pimple in 7 days, so I'm extremely thankful. I know I may breakout, but I'm prepared to know it's Accutane and not my birth control.

I'm still sick, but I have some energy back AND I got a friend of mine to work my shift tomorrow, so I get the whole day to rest and be a lazy poop!

I was washing my face with hot water cause I was freezing, and then when I was using a towel, I used these new ones my mom got and they're very gritty so my skin was BURNING. The ones I normally use are so soft I can rub my face with them, but I didn't realize these were so gritty! I think it wiped off a layer of skin! Eh, exfoliation I guess

:D? Although it did not feel good!

I can feel Accutane working, and I feel like I know for sure that in 6 weeks (when school starts), my skin will look great (hopefully!)

BUT, in two months I get my senior pictures taken. I will still be on Accutane, and my skin is very dry, so I'll properly moisturize, but I would like a tinted moisturizer/ BB Cream/ Foundation, that will even my complexion if I need it.

I know my fellow girlies wear it! I have a tube of Continous Coverage by Clinique that is amazing, but I honestly don't need that much coverage, so I'd like something that's medium coverage, and if I could have help with what's good for sensitive skin that would be great!

I'm so sorry about my absences, I've actually been working about 25-30 hours a week now, which I don't mind since I'm saving money for clothes and college, but it's been draining. I also have AP Lit homework, ick! Tomorrow I will be browsing the forums though and relaxing

:) I wonder if anyone is on?

Well I love you all!

Thank you, Betsy! My chin zit has gone away, so hopefully the under the lip sucker will follow. So done with these freaking things!! I just feel like this stupid thing is so noticeable because it's so damn close to my mouth. I covered it up nicely when I went out last night, but I'm sure it was still noticeable because it grew into this large zit. And I still have another under the skin bump that I'm scared is going to do the same thing as this one. 🙁

Dang Taylor, day 102 already? We're all almost done! 😛

Happy to hear your skin is clearing up. Birth control is tricky. My skin didn't go nuts until I started birth control after my first time taking Accutane. I don't think that I'll ever go back on it again.

That's so awesome that you get to start your senior year with beautifully clear skin! 🙂 I'm happy for you. I remember my senior year, my acne was at it's worst. The dermatologist I saw really didn't want me to go on Accutane.

30 hours a week is a lot! I work 40 hours now, but not for long! I hand in my resignation letter tomorrow, and in two weeks I will be free from my full-time job. I'll have two weeks off and then I start college full-time. Ahhhh man! I'm just glad that I can start college and meet new people with a clear face. 😀 Yay.

Day 125?

I™ve been out of pills for two days now. I fill my prescription for month five today. I™m counting today as day 125 because technically the medication is still in my system.

So, chin zit is gone and under the lip zit is doing its thing. It™s smaller but still there, it seems to be healing pretty fast. Once this thing heals I™ll be very satisfied with my face, overall.

The rest of my face is doing great. Forehead is clear. Cheeks are clear. Jawline is clear with the exception of the little bugger that has been there for months (although it has decreased in size). I™m pretty happy with the way things are going. I™m still open to the option of doing an additional month for a total of six months, however, by the end of this month I will actually be over my cumulative dose.

Oh, and I forgot to mention...my hair...I can run my fingers through it and pull out so many strands. I've always had hair that shed easily, but lately it's ridiculous. I am constantly losing strands of hair. :(

My derm has also suggested 5-6 months, both of which would put me over my cumulative dose (which is 120mg/kg of body weight, correct??) So I'm not sure if going over is even helping? I'm confused about that.

I am dealing with the hair loss too!! When I'm in the shower, I'm losing so many strands. I'm actually going to have my iron levels checked because I'm suspicious that could be a contributing factor (I have a history of low iron and when I take a supplement I see that I lose less hair).

Congrats on making it to month FIVE! 🙂 I have a good feeling this is going to be a great month for you!
