Your left cheek looks awesome! Overall, such an improvement. I bet you're glad that you've kept a log with pictures - I've found them tremendously helpful when I'm having a tough day.

DAY 92

So I ended up having THREE spots yesterday... adn TWO today... they seem to be coming./going quickly but THEY'RE STILL SPOTS!! 🙁

I ts my own fault...I think maybe its due to missing two doses in a row.... I hope I dont go really downhill and that this is just a blip...

Holy moly! That is amazing progress. Your skin looks amazing :)

So happy for you!

Don't worry about the new spots, if they're going quickly they'll be dead in a day or two.

Ps. I do so love your graphs wub.png

Really great progress! And your red marks are already fading as well. Do you know how long you'll be on it?

Ahh thank you smile.png to me my red marks are still awful.. maybe the camera is a bit kind on that..!

WELL... my derm said I was making good progress, and that she might stop me at my next appointment... That would only be a total of 4 months! 16 weeks doesnt seem to be long enough to me considering how bad my acne was... (may I refer you to the pics on day number one!!). At 4 months I would have only had 5880mg out of the minimum 6804mg for me.. which would be about 86% of the way through the bare minimum sad.png

I'm going to do my best to convince her to put me on for another month at least, especially as I have practically no side effects other than dry lips....

Ohh I would definitely try to convince her! I haven't really read any actual studies about the cumulitive dose, but better safe than sorry right?

My derm luckily keeps to the 120mg/kg rule, but I'll still have some pills left then so I might take some more, just to make sure I'm well over the minimum 😛

I think we are of the same opinion here!...

It worries me my derm doesnt even seem to have heard of the 120mg/kg thing let alone read the research.... her knowledge worries me sometimes... when I started this drug (having been an acne.org stalker for months and planning my regimen to the most minute detail) I asked her what moisturiser she reccomended for the dryness... expecting her to say cetaphil or aveeno or something she says... no you SHOULDN'T MOISTURISE... just let accutane do its thing! Come on...really?!! Yes lovely thanks dermy that will make my accutane experience much more embarrrasing/painful/case more scars yes thanks doc!

I really can't complain, this site has given me all the info I ever need... and she is the one letting me have this most wonderful of drugs after all! I do quite like her though... she is EXACTLY like the woman from the comedy series 'Black Books'... pretty funny!

Wow, she said not to moisturize!? Mine said to make sure and moisturize as much as I need to keep my skin from getting too dry. I'm glad you did your own research or your skin would be a dry, cracked mess!

I'm sure you can talk her into one more month. If not, you could try to change derms.

For me, I'm going a little over my minimum with a cumulative dose of 6000 mgs. My minimum target dose is 5551 mgs, but I'm going for an even 5 months.

I know!! Can you believe it...!!? I would be a scaly peeling red sore blister of a face by now!! I wish it was simple to change derms but I would have to go through my GP again and get another referral which would be a 6 month waiting list in itself probably!? I'm sure I can persuade her to give me a few more pills.. maybe I'll take some printouts of research papers with me!

Dang! I'm on such a high dose. If I finish after 4 months I'll be at 141.2mg/kg and if I finish the recommended 5 month course I'll be at 176.4mg/kg!! Dang - i hope I'm not going to be poisoned.

Hi PM!

Ahhh but look how quickly you cleared up! Positives to negatives eh?!

Plus you arent getting crazy side effects are you apart from the face flushing? And bloodworks ok? If all is well I believe your body would have told you by now if it was being poisoned...

What weight are you.. I think it normal to go up to 1.5mg/kg especially for truncal acne... but I seem to remember your acne was only facial? Or have I got that wrong... actually I think I remember being jealous of your start pics my day one was SO BAAAAD haha

I don't know that show, must be british or something? 😉

But yeah, I think some derms just happen to have a lot of patients with acne and therefore look into it more. Maybe you're one of her first clients who takes accutane 😛

But I'm sure she'll prescribe you some more if you ask, and if not you can always say you lost a box (although that might sound suspicious after you've asked for more pills rolleyes.gif)

Ya, so far my bloodwork is good and just the facial flushing for side effects, and the obvious dry skin and lips of course. I weigh 150 and have been on 80mg/day and my recommended course has been 5 months.

My acne was, for the most part, isolated to my face. I occassionally had body breakouts but I almost always attributed them to using shampoos and conditioners with panthenol in them....those always made me breakout on my back and shoulders. I battled with moderate, with occassionally severe breakouts that was somewhat controlled with antibiotics (i had just finished a round of antibiotics when I started accutane)...but my skin was suuuuper oily! I'm hoping that this high dosage prevents the oil coming back in full force!

I am about 4.5 months into my course and have been having some good weeks and some bad weeks. I have a feeling my moisturizer is breaking me out. Before I put i on my skin feels soft and smooth, and after it feels sticky and gross. I am using cetaphil lotion. I used to use it twice a day and now I havent used it in about 48 hours. I have seen an improvement in my skin and little flaking. I wash with CeRave cleanser which is not very strong so maybe i wont need to use lotion. I am going to try and use lotion only once every 2 - 3 days and report back.

Hiya... I personally love cetaphil wub.png .... (the one in the tube not the one in the bottle) as I know it doesnt break me out...I use sebamed facewash and its soooo gentle and moisturising too so i dont have to use to much moisturiser like you say... we are all so different and our skin reacts in diffeent ways to different things I guess......hence why some of us have acne and some dont.. (grrrrrrrrrrrrr!! ).......but when you find something that works its a great feeling!!.... x x x

I have been using the cetaphil in the big pump bottle. Which is the one in the tube? is it less greasy??

I could be wrong? x x x
