Day 53

hey,

so I started to take the 60mg and 40mg every other day, nothing yet..took 60mg only twice yet heh

The dandruff/dry scalp that I had like 20-30 days ago seems to be coming again, I'm seeing the dry skin detach from the scalp but it's not bad yet, could be in a few days though.

I've also got some more rash/ezcema(not sure which) on my forearms and a bit in my shoulder/upper arm area aswell. Should I use hydrocortisone for them or a moisturiser? I've been trying both but it takes a lot of time for them to fade. I've got a rash in my left hand that 's been there for a few weeks but it's not bad, right arm is clear.

Also I think the diet changes have helped a bit,

Have maybe 1 piece of rye bread in a couple days, so 95% wheat free, almost all gluten-free and getting a adequate amount of vitamins. I taking foods items one by one away to see if it would help, takes some time though

I've been slacking with the pictures, but there isn't much going on. I'm now going to go to my friend to watch a soccer game smile.png

Hey breesy, my acne looks like yours, a cluster of actives, but thats mainly all of the raised areas on my face, the rest are marks. Quick question

Have you noticed any at all your red marks seem to dip down in your skin more, looking like they are a scar? Mine is. Im on month 2.5. And all of them look like it, i hope its temporary.

nice progress :)

I'm on month 3 day ......6? dunno exactly but im still breaking out :(

so don't loose hope if you are still breaking out cuz the drug works differently for everyone.

And im doing basically the same thing as you with the no wheat/gluten thing. I dont know if its helping the acne, its so hard to tell when ur on accutane though if its working. I want to cut out coffee but its way too difficult! I very occasionally eat gluten, i work at a restaurant so its hard !

With the rash I developed them on my hands, between my index finger and thumb and on my forearms. I put vaseline on when its really bad and I keep it under control by moisturizing every day after I shower. skin all over my body was ridiculously dry and itchy until i started to moisturize everyday. Hydrocortisol cream really wells as well for it :)

When you get off accutane I think your skin will definitely lighten and some scars will fill out, your skin will be thin at the moment and prone to redness/scars.

Day 57

Yo what's up

Haven't written anything in a while. I've been just chilling and reading and hanging with friends. Crazy that the christmas is only 10 days from now, the time has gone so fast..

So about the skin, I moisturise well morning and evening but it still is always dry and tight, I'm not sure what to do with the dryness..maybe adding some tea tree or jojoba or some oil into the moisturiser? Tell me what has worked for ya

I still got a bit of dry skin on the scalp and the dryness or my eyes has been increasing. They aren't dry if I don't do anything with computer but as most, I sit on it many hours a day and it certainly doesn't help..Eye drops have helped quite a bit and I don't have any dryness for example in morning or at day at school when I haven't worked with computer/tv.

Here's some pictures

Looking great!!! Glad to see you're making good progress! About the dryness - are you using a pretty hefty, super crazy moisturizing, moisturizer?

Day 59

Hey buds,

I'm almost done with second month and today, and a bit yesterday I've experienced my eyes feeling a weird a bit.. Check the thread I made in the accutane posts section :

http://www.acne.org/messageboard/index.php/topic/308380-blurry-eyes-while-on-isotretinoinhelp/

So they feel a bit blurry and like I look on something I can't exactly precisely focus on the thing, and bright lights/ even light computer background is not very pleasant to look at. They don't feel really dry and I've been using gel drops 2 times a day even though they haven't been that dry. Has a lot of people experienced this?

I'm not sure if I should discontinue taking accutane for the weekend because it's friday now and I can't get to the derm until tuesday.

I got 2 new, very inflamed pimples today which both unfortunately erupted/came of after the morning shower and now stil are very red.

vision changes, like blurry vision are a common side effect of accutane and aren't permanent. It's up to you if you want to stop treatment......but you've already gone this far. So all that you've already done to your body will have been for nothing.

my vision was blurry in the beginning of my treatment for the first 3 or so weeks and then normalized. I am still slightly sensitive to light but it doesn't bother me enough that I even notice it much. I think in general a body is more sensitive to external things while on accutane, (I get drunk so much more easily) because it is weakened due to the strong drug. Your body is focusing on the toxicity that is being done to it through these massive amounts of chemical. But that's just my opinion and I have no degree or any experience in the medical field. Just sayin what my course feels like 😛

but good luck!

Day 60

Hey, I've now been on isotretinoin for two months

The vision problem is the same today, I skipped the pill yesterday evening, but took one today morning. I'm gonna leave the two evening pills to the box for this evening aswell and maybe not gonna take at all tomorrow. I booked appointment to the derm for monday morning so I'll know then more.

What I'm curious is if people have had this has it gone away during the course if you've continued? As that's what has happened with hair loss and redness of face..both lasted maybe 2-3 weeks and then subsided and settled down.

As for the skin I've got a new one again on my cheek, which I'm not very happy about, oh well...

Day 65

Hey guys,

haven't updated this for a while, been a bit lazy smile.png

So what's going on? I'm again on the reduced dose, 2 pills a day(20mg x 2)

I actually have not had a pimple in face for, umm I think 3 days now, which is good - there might be some new ones coming out though!

As for the eye problem I updated it on the other thread on the accutane posts section, I'll copy it here:

"I was at my derm's appointment today. She couldn't do much for the eyes except said I'll continue with the reduced dosage, so 40mg a day.

She directed me to a eye doctor who was a very friendly guy. The eye doctor analyzed the eyes and said that the lower eyelid has been irritated, probably because of isotretinoin. He said it's normally smooth but now it was slightly bumpy. I also got cortisone eye drops + one else for helping the inflammation/not quite sure what yet, haven't read the packets much.

The cortisone drops should help within a week and then I'll contact him again, I hope that they help AND the side effect will fade - wouldn't really want it coming back after using the mini-course of the cortisone eye-drops"

Day 70

Hey what's up guys

I slacked again with an update but it was christmas time:) So, I was actually having no pimples for almost a week, which was nice even though

it didn't made me actually look that much better but it made me feel. Today I got one new one on the right side of my face.

I'm pretty much done with the mini-course of the cortisone eye drops, once more tonight. Hopefully the side effects won't come back right away after stopping their use..

For christmas I didn't get much but money from my relatives and parents plus something small and useful smile.png

But today I went to buy a new phone with my dad and got to say it's very neat! It's the new galaxy nexus and I've never had a good phone before so I'm like a little child in amusement park with it, haha..

post-157291-0-97146400-1325018546_thumb.

Anyway not much else, just trying to decide what I'm going to do when it is new year's eve...to be honest i'm not looking very forward to it...

Meh, here's some pics with my new phone, where you can actually see something!

Day 74

hey guys...

thanks for the supportive words but I think it's the better photo quality that just makes it less prominent..

I thought I while ago I had got rid of the big bumps under the skin but no. I've been trying not to pay too much attention on the skin for a week but today before shower I examined it a bit and found out I had a lot of the bumps, mainly in jawline and under the most red marks... :(

I've also some hair loss again - around 10 strands get to my hands when I slide it through wet hair. I've only washed once a week and keep it even from touching water most of the day because the hair doesn't need it as it's dry already. Do you people know if I should moisturise so can hair fall out because the scalp is so damn dry or is it just some inner problems?

oh well one positive thing to this post. my eyes have been okay the past two days, even though I really haven't done anything else than sat in front of the computer

Day 77

Sup guys!

Face is still okay in terms of pimples! Actually none right now :)!

However the blurriness of sight is a bit coming back now after I finished the course. It healed and went to normal during the course but right now it's around the same as before. Maybe I should book another appoinment - I'll see how it's tomorrow / thursday.

Also I broke my brand new phones screen after two days use, hahaha. Now it's in repair and will take week more to come back. Oh well I guess I learned to keep it more safe now :D

Day 83

Hey

Haven't updated in a while, just been a bit bored and lazy with it..

Face is looking better again, no pimples currently! also I think the red marks are very slowly starting to fade. Will take very long for them to dissapear completely but it's nice that they're at least showing signs of fading.

Most Problematic side effect now is the hair loss. I've always had a pretty thick and lots of hair so it's not so prominent and I don't think anyone could see it when I'm at school, although it has become a lot less thick due to the oil being gone.

But what is worrying is always when I run my hand through the hair I'm getting around 5-10 strands. And that's a quite a bit of in a day... also got relatively much on my pillow sheet after night, maybe 20 or so.

Do you think it's worth it to go to the derm and talk about it? She can't do much more than just lower my dose to maybe 30mg, from the current 40, can she?

Also do you think supplementing biotin would be beneficial?

someone please respond with experience or knowledge about this huh.png

Omg your skin is looking good!! I love it! Keep it up buddy. I am barely on day 34 and I do get my scalp moisturized once a week. I also have thick hair and don't want it to fall out or be nasty dry. I only moisturize the scalp tho. I have my bf part it and apply this lotion by pink. Or you can use olive oil or morrocan oil. But use very little if you decide to. Good luck!!! The redness is fading since I remember first seeing your pics. :)

Day 94

Hey guys, took a little break from the website! but now I'm back smile.png!

What's going on...Almost at my 100th day, got to go pick up the new prescription soon ...

I had today for almost 2 weeks the first pimple, in my chin, no other actives currently, except 1 in chest aswell. I think the eyes have improved a bit.

Hair loss has remained roughly the same.

I visited my derm actually today the see the results from blood test, they were fine, easily within the 'normal' area!

I talked about the hair loss / eye problems and she said if they bother you can go to even only 30mg a day, so 20 and 40 every other day.. She said it's more about the cumulative dose that'll keep the acne away..

Ive also got still a lot bump under the skin... it's concerning me, they've been there from pretty much since the start of the course...wonder if they'll fade in the remaining ~ 4 months or if they're just gonna stay and come out after the coursehuh.pnghuh.pnghuh.png

Especially the second pic looks better than it actually is, think the camera swayed just before taking the picture!

Day 106

Hey guys, haven't been here for quite a while now, but here I'm now!

ARGH wrote an essay and then accidentally pressed the backscape and couldn't get the text back >.<

anyway, I decided to do a summary of the course so far as I've just got over with month 3, and day 100.

Let's start with side effects;

-at the start I had lower back pain, it has subsided now

-blurry vision/red eyes

-some hair loss(around 10come off if I run a wet hand(for extra friction) through the hair, without water around 5..

-dry mouth and a few ulcers because of it, it has got under control with saliva replacements though

-also not because of accutane but more the situation I'm in, I haven't had motivation for the gym/eating a caloric surplus in order to gain weight, I've lost around 10-15 pounds, due to eating to little and more "acne-friendly" foods which results to achieving satiety faster, and with less calories, than more calorie dense foods..

Positive has been that skin has gotten noticeable better after the first months purging I've only had around 10 new actives, in the past 2 months!

Although I think some new ones might be still coming, as I've got these bumps under the skin..heck they've been there around since the start of the course! I don't know if they'll stay till the end of the course and then surface, that's not really what I want :<

Huge improvement! =) how much do you weigh?

btw im on 30 mg a day and today is day 96 hehe and im from sweden tongue.png
