Day 90!
So, as you can see from my pics, some big improvements lately!! Unfortunately for me, my skin does not look as good today, I have a new active on my right cheek, and I picked at one on my left so its kind of gross... but it's okay. I can be patient. 90 days though, wow. My lips are all chapped and I was absent-mindedly peeling them earlier and now they look bloody and disgusting. Does Aquaphor REALLY help that much? I've been using Carmex and it's good for a while but if it rubs off my lips are peeling and flaking instantly. If Aquaphor is worth it I'll go find it even though it doesn't seem to be in any drugstores near my college.
Thanks for all of your nice comments and support! I hope to get some more time to go read everyone else's logs asap!
I hate the peeling lips! It's so disgusting, all I can think about when I'm talking to somebody is how gross my lips must look. They peel even if I have lip balm on, so the balm just sticks to the peely bits. Ah it all has to be worth it in the end though! I do the same thing with picking at them, too.
Paw paw ointment works really well and doesn't seem to just roll around on the peely bits, the only problem is that sometimes it bleeds a bit as it warms up so you have to be slightly conscious of having it around your mouth. I was getting really bad cracks in the corners of my mouth but paw paw ointment seems to stop them from getting worse. It's pretty cheap too.
Thanks Elle! I'll take a look at the paw paw stuff in the pharmacy, is it a common thing? Idk if it's an Australian thing haha? I'll check though! Anything to calm the peeling a bit. It's the only unbearable side effect so far!
I think it's pretty common. Well, they sell it everywhere here, but I don't think it's just an Australian thing, as far as I know.
I find myself wiping my lips with tissues all the time because I'm so paranoid bits of white goopy skin are on them. The things you have to do for good skin...
If you gently rub your lips with a wet washcloth while you are in the shower, it will remove a good bit of the dead skin and things will look much better. Just remember to put something on your lips as soon as you get out of the shower. If you can't find any of the recommended lip treatments, just get some Vaseline. I also use this stuff called Cure Natural Aqua Gel, a gentle exfoliator from Japan, on my face (1-2 x a week, on my lips every other day) to get rid of the peeling skin. That stuff is expensive and takes awhile to ship because it's coming from Japan (you can get it from Amazon or Beauty Carousel), but it works and it really is gentle. I learned about it from an accutane log on this forum called "I Declare War on Acne!"
My mom just called to tell me when she searched Claravis on google images a ton of my pictures came up, has this happened to anyone else? What do I do about this? HELP. I want them gone. All pics have been deleted from my blog.
What the hell? That is really alarming. Can you contact Google about this by any chance? Tell them you'll raise a media ruckus if they refuse to rectify the situation?
I was actually looking at your log a few days ago and forgot to comment, but I wanted to chime in about the improvement and say that it seemed like you were getting a lot better lately
Hopefully you get the Google Images issues sorted out soon though, ugh.

They are still there. I hope you get it sorted out, too! It's picking them up from the site. Hm...
My pics have been deleted off tinypic so even though the thumbnail is on google, it's slightly better now :\
Definitely depressed from the accutane. I'm honestly a wreck. I can't wait for this to be over, can't believe I'm only halfway done. The back pains are nearly unbearable too. I have no real active acne but the red spots are so bright and horrible that people have told me my skin looks worse lately. I'm sick over this. The irrational mood swings are killing me, I don't cry EVER and I had basically an emotional breakdown in front of my dad a few weeks ago. Cool. Unfortunately I can't tell my derm because she said I'd have to stop taking it if I experience any signs of depression. Stopping this is not an option, although if I don't see some redness fading in the next month I'll consider it. Accutane really is an amazing and horrible medication, I can't decide if I'd really recommend it. I guess if I see results that will change but as of right now I'd say it's not worth it. We'll see. Blah can't wait for this to be over.
Wow... I'm so sorry that you are still experiencing such terrible side effects. Try to focus on the positive things like that fact that you have no actives! That's really awesome, especially considering how terribly you were breaking out before. The redness will fade with time. Just get some good makeup for now to cover it up and wait it out. You could try a night moisturizer with niacinamide in it to help the redness fade faster. I know the CeraVe PM lotion and Clinique's Super Rescue Antioxidant night moisturizers both have that ingredient in them. I've used and like both, but the CeraVe is considerably cheaper. Definitely watch your moods. Depression can become a very serious condition. I know you don't want to stop the accutane, but keep your overall health and safety in mind. I really hope you start to feel better Kasey.
Hey. Merry Christmas!
Im glad you do not have actives anymore. I do not have any actives for a while either and my red marks are fading very very slowly. Bigger scars are still there but smaller ones are fading little. I use concealer for them and with make up on - my skin looks great. Finally.
I am also having really bad back ache, so I am visiting physio and getting treatment. Helps a little but not 100%.
I am thinking of massage therapy. Have you thought about it?
Mel.
First update in AGES.
Idk what day I'm on but I'm bad and forgetful so I'm over 1,000mg behind so I've got an extra like 2 months ugh.
So here's the good stuff - my skin is mostly clear minus one huge gross pimple on the tip of my nose (of course the most obvious place), depression is slightly less now that I'm back at school, I got highlights and went blonde again and my hair is somehow healthy and not very dry and not falling out.
Here's the bad stuff - Up until recently I had no idea that accutane could cause candida overgrowth (or is it the other way around? Candida causes acne? Idk.) Either way I had a nasty case of oral thrush a few months ago and then starting November, a recurring yeast infection that is driving me insane. Anyone else getting this from it? I've read many people saying it doesn't go away after. Faaantastic. I started taking garlic supplements today since it's good for cholesterol and immunity and fighting yeast infections. Here's hoping. I also have terrible terrible rashes covering both hands/arms/shoulders and my face looks sort of sunburned. I'm peely and gross still, and my back is killing me, I'm typically really tired... but I guess it's nothing new.
So I'm going off birth control, my doctor said I can as long as I promise not to get pregnant which is fine because I'm not sexually active... I read that switching from the generic Zenchent to what is supposedly the same generic, Balziva, causes many women to experience depression, weight gain, etc. So I'm thinking I'm just going to stop taking it all together since I've gained about 7lbs since I started taking it.
I'm seriously hoping this is all worth the trouble. I've considered stopping the course early so many times but it always seems to work for other people. I hope it works for me too. I'm getting so tired of waiting!

Don't worry, I'm sure it will work for you too. It takes time. For some people it takes longer than others. Do you know how many milligrams of Accutane you've had so far? I started about a month later than you, and I'm at 4,710. I need about another 2000 before I'm at my minimum cumulative dosage.
Hey everyone, not much time to update anymore but it's ok because my skin is looking good and is nice and soft
I use a ton of cerave moisturiser day and night and my face feels goood.
Just wanted to say if anyone is suffering from the yeast infections try taking garlic supplements, about 1000mg/day for a few days should get rid of it. Worked for me. I also had oral thrush (basically candida in your throat, nasty) but I'm thinking that won't happen again anytime soon either.
Garlic is good for your digestive and immunte system and it lowers cholesterol! Woohoo! So yeah, take garlic, use cerave, don't miss pills (like i did :c ) and you'll be good to go

hey im glad your course is going well How much longer do you have to go?
Just a question, how did you know that you had oral thrush? I'm not sure if I've got it or not, but my sinuses and mouth seem to be displaying signs of bacterial infection. I am taking garlic pills and supplements to help though.
