Taken a second ago. No make up. Just moisturizer. My camera on my phone brings out everything. Here ya go. 😉 my forehead and chin aren't problem areas. It's always mainly on my cheeks. This is me pmsing as well. I'd say I'm doing pretty well. A lot of thr red marks on my left cheek are from a very bad break out that occurred over 3 months. It was awful.

Day 13

Wait Wait. Has it been almost two weeks? THAT'S INSANE. The above photos is how my skin looks at the moment. As you can see there is just a lot of hyper-pigmentation, blackheads, minor actives and larger actives. I told you guys my skin is not perfect 😉 It was worse when I actually went to the derm for accutane. I've been dealing with this type of skin since I was 12, though I will admit it is not severe it is definitely bothersome especially because I VERY RARELY wear make up.

Anyways 😉 Side effects are not bad at all. Even the dry skin is not bad, I'm moisturizing a lot 2x a day and I'm still smearing vaseline over it. I figure my face is ultimately right now one large cut so I'm trying to treat it as best as I can. My lips are dry but not to the point of peeling or hurting. I see a lot of people complaining about that, when does that start? I'm a chap-stick addict, I can't stand the look or feel of dry lips. My eyes are a tad dry today. Joint pain gone. Headaches only lasted the first two days. My hair is def drier.

Skin wise 😉 Well the pictures speak for that. I have a few actives but just a lot of red marks left over. I know that accutane delays wound healing but from what I've seen in the past two weeks it actually seems like quite the opposite. Is this me being retarded? Every active I get heals very fast and the red marks have gone down significantly. Even my finger that I cut on a blade, its healing very nicely. Maybe I'm just really patient.

I'm still exfoliating with a q tip and vaseline at night, I swear this is the only way I will exfoliate even after accutane. It's amazing. The vaseline protects the bottom layer of the skin and then the only thing that can come off when you gently rub in a circular motion is loose dead skin. I've tried a lot of ways to exfoliate and I'm seriously in love. The overall texture of my skin seems to be improving every day as well.

i don't see any blackheads at all, and minus the red marks (which are very faint) your skin is probably one of the best skin i have seen on this site.

BTW, you are gorgeous.

Good luck on your course, i will be following it. I might try accutane myself (my original derm is letting me try it), but alas, i am scared

yes i see the red dots, but those are papules, very minor ones to say the least. No big deal (unless those red dots turn into pustules??)

Nonetheless, i will be following your log and hoping for the best for you.

I think my skin is pretty much ruined already, so i am just going to have to live with it.

aww thanks Time I've said this in your thread but YOU ARE A VERY ATTRACTIVE as well 😉 And Time where does fear get you? How does it benefit you? It doesn't. You have nothing to be scared of. Sure there are risks. BUT EVERYTHING WE DO HAS RISKS. Walking outside has risks but if we didn't take that first step we wouldn't see the beauty the world has to offer. If your skin is as big of deal as it is to me, I strongly urge you to consider it. You have nothing to lose really. If you are monitored by your doctor, live a healthy lifestyle and do not really have any serious family health issues, why the heck not go for the strongest drug created to defeat acne. Think about it love 😉

And if you have faith.... you're on an even easier journey

Well spoken, Cassandra. I agree with you 100%. I feel like I could offer a whole slew of encouraging words, Time, but it's useless to say anything more to you. I've been trying to be patient with you, but I feel like you're ignoring everything I say. I will tell you one last time that I think you look great, but I'm afraid that it will have no effect on you.

Mine is too. My last derm was very rough with my skin. I did a total of 7 chemical peels 10% and 20% (1-4 mins) over a period of two years and I was also on a retnoid (tazorac) which completely ruined my skin. I'm afraid that some part of the outer layer of my skin is damaged. I also have some premature wrinkles and lines that I'm really not to fond off but you know what I will work with what I got. And time forget to tell you, in the past two weeks my skin has had LESS FLAKING. I mean the rate at which my skin is turning over is incredibly normal now. It still has a way to go but that was one of my main problems I was always crusty!

tbh Cassandra (do you mind if i call you that?), my aim is not to be this 10/10 handsomest guy on earth. I just want to be comfortable in my own skin.

Thanks for the encouraging words though, you are too kind.

Sure 😉 Cassandra, Cass, Cassie whatever ya feel like. And I know that feeling. I know I will never be the prettiest girl on earth, its unrealistic I too just want to be comfortable in my own skin and I want to be able to go camping and not wash my face. I want my skin to be easily maintained without putting a bunch of unnecessary harsh chemicals on top of other harsh chemicals

Anyways, i guess its all in the eyes of the beholder, i.e. i dont think my skin looks good at all, while others (like you i guess) think its fine.

Day 13

Exfoliating while on Accutane? Does this help?

After cleansing, do you just take a q tip to put vaseline on your face and rub in circular motion with your fingers? Then wash off?

Thanks

Of course it does. Part of the cause if acne is when dead skin sticks inside the cell. That's always been my problem and when I was younger it was that and really oily skin. No I do the opposite. Think about it, If you don't exfoialte before you cleanse then when you cleanse you're just rubbing a bunch of dead skin everywhere and the cleanser can't properly "cleanse" your face. So I put vaseline on twice a day. Once in the morning over my moisturizer (somme people may not agree with this because some feel it makes them break out), but if you want to apply it 30 mins before you cleanse I'm sure that's fine. I then take a q tip in a circular motion and youll be amazed at how effective this is.

Day 14

Wow. 2 week mark, that's insane. Nothing new to report really. Same side effects.

Skin wise till good, I have a few blackheads that have been there since I started treatment on my forehead and all the zits and red marks in the pictures are still there. I went to the gym yesterday and I'm concerned about how my skin will react to that since I apply vaseline over my moisturizer. The good thing is usually when I would work out before my skin would burn from the taz and the bp. Thank god I don't have to use those retarded things anymore.

The green monster has struck again. I find myself comparing myself to my younger sister, which I hate (just physically) her skin is flawless and I feel it just makes her much more attractive than I am. It's hard to have lived with 2 sisters and be the only one who seriously struggles with bad skin. I never wear make up and they both wear it every day. So I feel like an even bigger tool sometimes. And then other days I think to myself "no you know what, I'm gonna rock what I have, I have qualities that they will never have too, and I'm sure at some point in their lives they were envious too, get over it, you're beautiful in your own way." It's hard especially because I'm pmsing so I feel like a piece of poop ;-(
